nearly 30,000 californians reported positive test in the past day, and unfortunately hospitalizations are also climbing. 2400 californians are in the hospital for this virus. this current surge could level out soon the emergence of a new covid variant could cause another surge before this one is completely over. apple is giving its worldwide virtual conference this week. >> very well may be the future of a lot of these high-tech companies. >> apple really lead the way on this. obviously, the downside is you don't get to meet in person with fellow developers. but, the good news is anyone can participate. it all kicks up at 10 a.m.. this is not one of those big iphone announcements. this one is much more technical. this one is for software

berkeley lab. this not only broke some daily rainfall records, but also monthly rainfall records for the month of june. now, we go back to some dry weather. we are expecting it to heat up by the end of the week. we are enjoying milder conditions right now as we head out to napa with temperatures in the mid-50s. going out to the rest of the morning we will see sunshine headed for the upper 70s, and low 80s in napa. oakland will see a high of 75. mountain view will reach a high of 77. it gets even hotter tomorrow as well through the rest of the week. while we are keeping a wide range of temperatures in the ocean breeze, and cool ocean water. in the mid 60s for the next several days. upper 60s as we get a slight shift in the wind, but it will be gusty. of course with those high winds over the weekend we are heading

back to we will see an intense area of high pressure building just off to our east. it'll shift the wind direction, and a lot of that moisture will be absorbed into the vegetation, because it already died, or has gone dormant for the season. we will see the temperatures reaching up to 104 degrees by the end of the week in brentwood. so, we are going from one extreme to the other. at least we don't see the extreme temperatures lasting long. they do come back down on saturday to get some real relief. again, early next week. but, for this week we are starting out mild. we have the next few days to get ready for that high heat. make sure the pool is cleaned out if you have one. san francisco is not going to be that hard. upper 60s to upper 70s. this is pretty warm for san

concert ticket fight. yeah, consumer investigator chris camara. >> reporter: good morning. kristi said she paid ticket sash center.com for tickets to the red hot chili peppers. as soon as she got her confirmation she said she discovered the seats were in 126 behind the stage. not backstage. behind the stage. kristi said ticket center did not advertise them that way. adding more confusion. the stadium told her that section wasn't going to be occupied for the chili pepper show. she said she tried to take care of this all by herself, and get her money back. she disputed the charge of the credit card, but that created a loop between the bank and the ticket selling. she asked us to intervene. we did reach out to the ticket center. they didn't explain what happened, but they said we have

there was a deadly conversation in the safeway. a worker is shot, and killed outside his door where he worked. we are live with what the victim's coworker said may have started it. plus, pain at the pump. gas prices are reaching a record high here at the bay area. how much a gallon of regular gas is going for. a very good monday morning to you. thanks for joining us. >> i marcus washington. videos of previous buyers in santa rosa over the past couple of years. the fire department urging that you make changes now. that includes dry vegetation around the homes.

all bay area county has been on alert for quite some time now. this week's rain didn't help in terms of reducing our fire danger, but there was more than just a little bit of rainfall for parts of the north bay where we had more than double with our monthly average for the month of june with santa rosa measuring over a half inch of rain. it was an inch, and a quarter in mill valley. it's a good day to clear the defensible around the home, but a lot of the vegetation wasn't able to soak it up, because it was dried out too much. it was already dead, or it was dormant for the summer months. were getting ready to head from one extreme to the other. from qual, and went to hot, and dry over the next couple of days. it's pretty nice today as we head for the upper 70s, and lower 80s. we will talk about the temperatures coming our way.

6:32 right now. developing this morning still more questions, and answers in the deadly shooting outside of the south bay safeway grocery store. police are still investigating, but police say the young men who worked there was a shot. he was trying to stop a theft. this is a tough one. so many of us shop at that store. >> we are creatures of y ores, relationships with people we see there all the time. our hearts go out to the employees there at that safeway store in hamilton and meridian. we know the victim was a 24- year-old man who colleagues say was cheerful, and helpful. he was only 24 years old. he was identified as a manuel huizar cornejo. he was trying to stop someone from stealing liquor from the safeway store there when he was

shot. police tell us it was about 3:30 in the morning that the altercation turned deadly. >> i think it's absolutely horrendous, and awful. he was a lovely young man. i think needless to say gun violence is everywhere, and it hit close to home. >> reporter: cornejo is san jose's 14th homicide victim of this year so far. police are still searching for the gunmen. they ask if you saw anything, or know anything you call in that tip. you can anonymously by going to 408947 stop. >> it'll be interesting to see if they have any video about anything too. thanks so much. 6:34 right now. we are learning about a deadly mass shooting in philadelphia.

>> the people were killed, and at least 11 others were hurt. three shooters were involved in this one on saturday night. one who fired the initial shot, and several people fired back. this comes as many the future of the control. to schedule this week. >> reporter: marcus, and laura good morning. this is the scene of utter chaos here on saturday night. hundreds of people were packed. this is a popular nightlife area where people typically come. it was just shattered. three people killed. 11 people wounded, and authorities are now searching for suspects. several gunmen according to police at this point, but just hours after this there was another mass shooting in chattanooga, tennessee. 12 people wounded at a nightclub there. also throughout the country multiple mass shootings

including in arizona, and south carolina. at least 13 mass shootings according to the gang violence archive. any shooting incident with at least four people killed, or wounded. not including the gunmen. this all comes as there is an increase push in congress this week for some gun legislation. of course this follows the mass shootings in tulsa, and buffalo . just on wednesday victim's families, and survivors of the shooting in buffalo are set to testify. but, here in philadelphia again a massive investigation is underway. the victims range from 17 to 69 years old so far no arrests. >> thank you. a man acquitted of murder in the 2015 shooting of a woman

on a san francisco pier. he will be sentenced after he pled guilty to federal firearms charges. it became a national flashpoint over immigration. he has been deported five times, and was wanted for six importation proceedings. a jury acquitted him of various charges including murder shortly after federal prosecutors charged him with two counts of illegal gun possession. he faces up to 10 years in prison. also, today the man accused of molesting former family member is due back in court. harry grew a lot. he is set for a prehearing for felony charges. he's been out on bail since february, and isn't allowed within 100 my after investigators say he got into a

high-speed chase. velasquez ended up shooting his stepfather who survived. have you seen this little dog? riley is an eight month old chihuahua stolen out of a van during a smash and grab in san francisco. it happened on may 24th when a couple from arkansas parch their van on bay street. these are pictures of the van. the couple was visiting just for a day before they had to return home. now, their friend who lives in san francisco is trying to help find that pup who is in microchipped. she said the couple is left with a horrible impression of san francisco. she's begging for help. this morning, gas prices across the bay area. would you pay $7.50 for gas? i guess if it was your only option you would. at this point that's what a lot of people are doing. so, a gallon of regular $7.49.

the supreme is nearly eight dollars. but, the average across the bay area isn't much lower. >> i never saw i would see $7.50 a gallon for gas. i remember when i bought my first car it was $1.85. >> i got myself set stuck, because i'm low on gas. i'm kind of in a pinch. here i am counting $100 filling up my tank. >> every bay area county a gallon is more than six dollars. the highest is at 60 a gallon. the lowest, toronto at $6.35. while the national average is $4.84. 6:30 round 39 right now.

today, but still really nice after a cool weekend. with some scattered showers. as our temperatures ramp up in the forecast in a few minutes. thank you very much, carrie. 6:44 right now. that could remove him from power. this comes after dozen of lawmakers wrote letters calling for his ouster. after the revelation of a string of covid lockdown busting parties that he held over the past two years. the prime minister, and dozens of others have been signed by the police for dozens of parties. now, there will be a secret ballot to vote after today. he will need to get more than 50% support to stay in office. today marking 78 years. it's the anniversary of d-day.

weekend in america. philadelphia, grand rapids, michigan. just a few of the mass shootings in the past two days. in washington there is talk of progress between washington, and democrat, and republican. background checks already off the table. there might be some room for expansion of background checks. assault weapons was not even on the table. that was a solid no. a push to encourage states to pass red flag laws. but, they can't force states to pass them. looking ahead, the first public hearing will come on thursday. set for prime time. the committee says it will show trump new laws, but push

forward new plan to overthrow the popularly elected president anyway. we will be looking at that on twitter, and facebook. you, and i can exceed some interesting messages. another independence day celebration will be without the big firework show. organizers of the for the july show over north lake tahoe the north shore. they are replacing fireworks this year with drones. the sky show will feature 200 drones that will act ominously fly in a brief program formation. >> we are just moving into a modern age. i encourage those folks to come out to the show, and witness it, and see how it works before

recordbreaker. now, we are back to our dry weather. you can put down the umbrellas. starting in the upper 50s. grab the sunglasses, so those temperatures are headed in the 40s. nevada reaching, 79. slightly warmer tomorrow. that is what we will see in windy areas while the coast stays nice, and mild. heyward will see a high of 73. then you can go up to about 75 on wednesday while fairfield is at 91 degrees on the highway. whatever moisture we've got over the weekend that's going to be drying up very quickly as an intense area of pressure builds up to create some heat for the valleys. headed for the mid-to-upper 90s. let me show you the temperatures. i want you to get ready for this, because we are already fairly warm reaching up into the 80s. take a look at friday.
