dangerous heat in parts of the bay area. we have a new warning from pg&e. first, let's get over to kari hall. how hot are we talking about? >> we could reach over 100 degrees. that is why we have the heat advisory. it is away from the immediate coastline. temperatures will be dangerous later today. drink lots of water and pay attention to your body for signs of heat related illness. it will be hotter in solano county. we have the spare the air alert daywear unhealthy air quality could be an issue for the inland east bay and santa clara valley. we will have the potential for some of the hazy and hot

weather to really move into the bay area. pittsburg is already 75 degrees. we have a breezy wind. that is why when the temperatures heat up, we have a concern of the fire danger. the hot temperatures could be what we need for a fire to spread. very quickly think it's going. we do not want that to happen. take a look at the trend today. it is 93 degrees. you are heading close to 100 degrees in pittsburg. livermore reaching 99 degrees. that is where we find her in livermore. it is only 63 degrees right now but it is going to heat up. firefighters on high alert. the brush fire broke out yesterday near highway 4 in brentwood. it was contained. today even hotter conditions expected in the triple digits.

right now on there, head over to the section that we have a fullest on our front page. millions of americans sat down in front of televisions last night to watch the first of six public hearings investigating the attack on the capitol. >> the covers last night with the presentation included more gut wrenching video. >> i think it shocks people each time just how violent the attack was. the attackers were chanting, hang mike pence. calling police officers traitors as the officers struggled to drag injured colleagues to safety. a radio call, we have lost the line. we have lost the line. the nation watched four long minutes of this. some of it never before seen footage from a documentary filmmaker who is filming the so- called proud boys who the committee said helped coordinate the attack. we heard from the filmmaker but the standout witness was

officer caroline edwards of the capitol police who was grievously hurt as trump supporters rushed the first barricade. knocked out and then she recovered to continue the hand- to-hand fight. >> i was an american standing face-to-face with other americans ask myself how many times how many times, we how we had gotten here. i had been called names before, but ne duty been called into question. i, who got up every day, and about how early the hour or how late i got in the night before, to put on a uniform, and to protect america's symbol of democracy. >> reporter: officer edwards talked about her grandfather, a marine who was wounded, she said she thought her grandfather would be proud of her. >> reporter: there will be six different hearings. each with a different issue.

that is near concordia park. a 16-year-old was shot and killed. police say as second victim was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition. suspect used a high-powered rifle. it's unclear what led to the shooting. let's take a live look in san jose. you can see the sun starting to come up. the temperatures are low for now. we are tracking that. san jose will not get as hot as what we are expected to see in some areas. it is still pretty hot, especially with this being the first time in quite a while. we've had temperatures reach into the mid to upper 90s. let me show you the trend. we are at 65 degrees. this is when we to open up the windows but there is not much of a breeze so it does not help out that much. as we go to the late morning

into noon, it is already too hot to enjoy the lunch outside. we are reaching up to 93 today. 100 in sam martin and gilroy. 100 in concord. upper 90s in santa rosa. as you make plans for the weekend, it will be cooler near the coast. a lot of the inland areas are going to have some really hot temperatures with some gusty wind. the wind mean a high fire danger with the dry conditions. the hot weather with the low humidity. we are watching for all of that going into the next couple of days. heading out on the roads this morning, any issues popping up for the commute? >> a word of caution. we look at the map. the keywords are calling out both of those. 580 eastbound. the build comes out of the altamont pass. westbound 580.

francisco with novato headed toward 95 degrees today. it is hot and only coming down a few degrees. it will be hot, but very comfortable near the coast line. that will be a popular place to be. going into sunday, we are going to have a cooldown with more clouds moving in and possibly some showers and parts of the north bay. take a look at the temperatures today. where we are headed, versus the expected high. do not think we will set a new record but will be close to some of those records, especially in santa rosa. livermore might be a couple of degrees below a record. we talked about the cooler air on sunday. that comes with the possibility of scattered showers nearby. i just think we will see a lot of that in the bay area but to the north bay will have the highest chance as well as the coast line. if you go to the beach on sunday versus saturday, it is going to be so much different. as we go to next week. we will see warm temperatures returning.

the seven day forecast shows the hot weather today and still pretty warm tomorrow. sunday is going to be really nice with highs near 80 degrees. we will warm up for early next week and for wednesday, back in the mid-90s. san francisco will be uncomfortable today, especially without air conditioning but i think that the breeze helps out a little bit. we are headed for 80 degrees. mid 60s by the end of the weekend. gusty winds heading back our way for early next week. heading out for the commute, how's it looking right now? the commute is really good right now. i do not want to jinx things. green sensors all along the bay. that is a great dry right there. sioux lookout on the altamont pass and maybe through highway 84th. little bit of slowing. highway 4 all the way in the upper right over to concord. the walnut street interchange. highway 37 out of the leo. no problems. some good stuff. look at here toward the live

it is 5:23 right now. new cases of the monkeypox here in the bay area. they have identified three more cases. that brings the city total to four. the case involves a patient that had contact with the one recently testing positive as well. doctors say they might expect to see more cases locally but they say that monkeypox is not as severe or contagious as covid. >> close skin to skin contact,

weather for tomorrow into sunday. we are watching all of this. big changes ahead. are you seeing any changes for the morning commute? we see the forecast. friday we sent tend to see the pattern. also, right about now we see the burst of the traffic. there will be more, but they're predicting temperatures driving folks to the coast. if you're driving to the coast, highway 17 will be jammed up leading toward highway santa cruz. getting over to half moon bay over to the right. that will be a big factor today and likely all weekend. a lot of cheering is going on. in oracle park, the giants play a new opponent at 7:15.
