good morning, it is sunday, june 12th. a live look toward san francisco at the bay bridge. a little hazy to start out this morning. thank you for joining us. her meteorologist joints with a look at the microclimate forecast. >> it is a muggy start to sunday, the standard is 67 degrees in san jose, but 84%, dew points in the 60s, we don't often see around the bay area unless you've got an atmosphere

involved, we haven't moving in later this morning, 57 with the drizzle and the mist around san francisco, that's not difficult what's happening on the radar. we have rain showers on the north coast, lights bagels and we see this moving through the bay area from midmorning to early afternoon with clouds increasing on the south bay right after lunchtime and mid afternoon clearing to the north bay and clearing skies into the south bay. our tower, we got drizzle to start today, 60 to start, lunchtime temperatures upper 70s around san jose and any chance of showers moves out as we get to the late afternoon, we will talk more about how much rain we expected any warm- up around the corner in the forecast coming up in about 10 minutes. the change in the wake of the shootings, thousands joined the march for our lives yesterday, demonstrators called on congress to pass meaningful

changes to gun laws. one of the bigger marches happen in the south bay. we were there. >> from teenagers to grandmas, the multigenerational march and rallying cry against gun violence. >> thoughts and prayers don't stop a bullet from piercing the skin of a child. >> reporter: the organizer came along with the raging grannies. after watching the horrific shooting, she said she realized that young people need to do more. >> it seems scary and it once again reminds us how us going to school should be considered a death sentence. >> she is advocate for implement universal background checks on people purchasing guns while mountain view city councilmember sally lieber encourage people to start pushing local governments to implement new restrictions. >> i would like to see every city use zoning powers to restrict the areas where gun purchasing can take place. i would like to see every city

require insurance and gun owners. >> the city of san jose already requires gunowners to have liability insurance and it was the first in the nation to pass the law. >> these horrible mass shootings lost so many lives. >> people march in san francisco in the kindergarten teacher said her school had an active shooter threat shortly before the tragic mass shooting in texas. since then, she says she feared for her students. >> it's at the forefront of my mind every moment with students, their safety, but also how we can advocate for change for them because they deserve better. >> also admit the path to change may not be clear, the call for change was loud and clear. joe biden wrapped up his trip in la yesterday before boarding air force one, he spoke to reporters about the march for our lives movement. >> it's important. this has to

become an election issue the way people listen to what people say, i will protect my vote anyway, the answer is march. >> it was just your home, marches happen all around the country, you're looking at video from los angeles and atlanta, parkland, florida, and new york city. one of the biggest rallies was in parkland where in 2018, a teenager open fire at marjory stoneman douglas high school killing 17 people. students who survived the parkland massacre organized march for our lives. >> this money, deadly triple shooting in the south bay happened just before 1 a.m. on crescent village circle in san jose. police say two men and one woman died at the scene. this is an active investigation. police say evidence suggests this was a murder suicide. this is the 15th and 16th homicide of 2022 in the city and we will continue to update

the story on air and online when more information is available. and police are trying to figure out how a man crashed his car into the south bay home depot. it happened just before 2:00 saturday afternoon on monterey road in san jose. police say the man crashed into the store and died at the scene. no one else was hurt. and if you weeks ago, we learned about a baby formula shortage. it is now feminine hygiene products. they are apparently getting harder to find on shelves across the country and it's happening amidst rising prices. today in the bay's stephanie young looked at the situation in the bay area. >> i bet you five different sources and sent fiscal including cvs and target and they've all been running low on a certain feminine product, tampons. >> i feel like it's crazy that it's happening. >> the brand missing the most on shelves is tampax. and the maker procter & gamble has confirmed that some consumers may currently be unable to find what they need.

in fact, cvs has confirmed in recent weeks there's been times where suppliers have not been able to fulfill the entire orders of feminine care products and the situation as people feeling like this. >> it is really important to have product like that available. >> i think it's very frustrating and kind of a good representation of where we are at in the country. >> the necessity i feel like it's toilet paper. so it's kind of scary, not sure why it's happening. >> procter & gamble says it's happening because of an increase in demand but the company is working with retailers and producing tampons 24/7 to make sure these shelves aren't empty. >> i would be a little nervous and panicking. >> as of the situation wasn't bad enough to take a look at the prices. >> i've noticed prices have gone up for sure according to data cited by bloomberg, the average price of tampons has gone up nearly 10% in the past year and experts blame the rising price of raw materials like cotton. >> overall, public distress in being able to access just basic

resources is not looking so great. >> shoppers are now wondering what is next. >> moving you forward this morning, here is a live look at sfo were starting today, another covid-19 requirement is going away. the cdc is dropping mandatory covid tests for incoming travelers. the move comes after months of pushback from airlines and the travel industry. several other countries have already dropped covid testing requirements for incoming travelers. the cdc says it will review this decision in three months and make changes if a new variant causes concern. the fda says moderna's covid vaccine appears to be safe and effective for kids ages six months to 17 years old. next we, a committee will meet to vote on recommending the vaccine to be authorized also happening next we, pfizer's

vaccine for ages six months to 5 years old could get the green light for use. moderna's vaccine plan is to doses that are one quarter of an adult those of pfizer recommends three shots each one 10th of an adult those. and the prices at the pump are just getting worse for those trying to make it here in the bay. we told you yesterday morning that the nationwide average price for a gallon of gas hit five dollars for the first time in one day it is gone up by one cent. according to aaa, the prices will continue to grow and here, the average in california is much higher at $6.43 and in san francisco and all other bay area counties, the average is all over six dollars. there are several reasons for the surging gas prices, travel demand is up and global oil prices are rising compounded by sanctions against russia. following up on the fire

reported earlier this week, this is video out of napa county showing a chevron gas station up in flames. it happened wednesday in the town of england east of calistoga. firefighters got it under control just 15 minutes. luckily no one was hurt. fire says they checked on a 22- year-old man for starting the fire. he was arrested friday in, and is set to be charged with felony arson. where palm open news out of southern california where a fire spark in the angeles national forest. the so-called sheep fire is burning near wrightwood. so far at least 30 acres have burned but conditions are windy . firefighters tackled the flames from both the ground and the air. the highway is closed in the area. much more ahead on today in the bay. coming up, we take you live to washington dc for the weekly interview with chuck todd for a preview of this week is meet the press.

couldn't think of another witness that had spent that much time. this is who is likely helping to connect the dots and fill in the gaps of what was donald trump doing for 187 minutes while the place was being stormed. so i think what we are finally seeing here is four federal investigations of donald trump, this the first one that has been the most thorough investigation where actually the allegation is made and here is the evidence to back it up. we didn't have that with the molar report because the trump folks actually obstructed it. they didn't have it in the first impeachment because there was a lot of obstruction of evidence over there. the second impeachment, he was rushed. now we are finally getting that arrow thing, you're asking most pertinent question to me, what does it look like? there is a legal account ability, will things be thrown into the lap of mayor garland? yes the decide whether to indict a former president of the united states, but second one is the court of public opinion, and i think the best way to judge this is simply this, will donald trump have the ability to win a republican

nomination ever again? does he have the ability to win the presidency? if this committee is successful, the answer to both questions should be no. >> a lot to review and are several more hearings to come. as the debate on gun restrictions continues, are we getting any closer with changes to prevent another mass shooting like you've all the or buffalo? and is there a way to accomplish that with bipartisan support? it's a debate and perpetual political limbo. >> look, on the show this morning, my colleague liam caldwell who is a member of the panel have reported with washington post essentially able to break the news that a deal appears to be imminent and could get announced later today and sort of the two big advancements. and because these were the stickiest parts of this, , we a those reforms, but what they have apparently agreed to is something that is similar to a red flag order but to incentivize states for some

oakland. we see guns traveling from outside california, nevada, arizona, all finding their way to the bay area. >> they collected over 130 firearms and handed out over $10,000 in gift cards. and east bay bakery is in hot water with the community over the name of one of its items, the owner of third culture bakery in berkeley says it is dropping the trademark name of mulching muffin after intense backlash. one of the owners created a popular emoji muffin back in 2018 and soon after, they trademark the name and they've been sending cease-and-desist letters to any other bakery who uses the name. that is when the negative reviews came pouring in and employees started building angry phone calls. they say it was a huge oversight and they won't pursue any other trademarks in the future.

>> here is a live look over san francisco where a special memorial has been set up at golden gate park this weekend, nearly 3000 handstitched panels of the iconic ades memorial quilt are on display in robin williams meadow, that's the largest display in san francisco that they've ever seen and it's all to mark the 35th anniversary of the quilt. each block tells a story of a person who died from ades. as you can see, the panels take up a very large area and anyone who would like to see the display can stop by between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. today. again, it is in robin williams meadow. people celebrated 10 years of pride on the peninsula. hundreds of lgbtq members and supporters met at central park in downtown san mateo yesterday afternoon. there was a dj on the turntables alongside food trucks and other vendors and you can see rainbow flags draped everywhere since organizers weren't able to create an in person event for

valley. this looks a bit more like june and they've got the fog and misty skies in san francisco, 67 degrees and up towards san rafael, 60 currently in keeping an eye on sonoma raceway, prepare to save on 350 around the start of the race at 1:00, we could have a few light sprinkles or light showers, but noticed the sky conditions by midafternoon into the early evening, we begin to see clearing breezy conditions around sonoma with highs in the 70s. so fog and drizzle right now around the coast, closer to san francisco in late morning to mid day comes the chance of seeing a few showers out there and the afternoon temperature stay in the 70s with clouds clearing out of the south bay as you notice, rain at the mendocino county and it slowly going to drop to the south and it will we can on approach. look at the atmosphere river connection, that's the reason for the humidity we have outside this morning and we will supply the chance of a few mid-day showers before the skies start to clear from midafternoon in the north bay

we are waking up to muggy conditions by bay area standards, 67 degrees in san jose and that comes with 84% relative humidity as we begin to see increasing tropical moisture moving into the area. we see clouds thicken up later on this morning. we are seeing some areas of low clouds around dublin at 64 degrees and there is a look that you can see in san francisco, parts of billings into the low clouds, 57 degrees in san francisco. not much wind this morning, but later on today as the clouds

clear, that's when the wind speeds will pick up and we have a look at that coming up in just a moment, as temperature start off in the 60s to a mild and muggy start, most of the shower chances through midmorning will be in the north bay and then by lunchtime, begin to see the clouds increase across the central bay and south bank and temperatures in the upper 70s around san jose, 60s on bayside and should be staying the 60s to the day today through about 4:00 this afternoon, mid-60s san francisco, upper 60s in oakland, mid to upper 70s in san jose and the tri-valley. so 80s and 90s should be off the map for most places today as we see wesley increasing clouds through midday and then clearing right around mid to late afternoon. first a look at the windspeed, not much right now, but by 4:00 and 5:00 later on today, the sky start to clear and we will see when speeds from 15 to 30 miles per hour. a little bit of a breezy finish to your sunday afternoon and evening. check out the radar up around mendocino county seeing some light rain showers and these

will continue to progress to the south by about midmorning to early afternoon around the bay area so the timing here on the futurecast will launch with this atmospheric river connection giving us the extra humidity. a free trip to hawaii courtesy of our atmospheric river which will bring in the cloud cover during the afternoon. you can see it there, if you areas of drizzle and light showers in the mid afternoon clearing in the north bank by midafternoon and central bay and south bay, sky start to clear out as we go towards the evening. rain expectations here are pretty low, most of it will fall in will be rain that is forced to kind of fall out of the clouds as it's forced the climb over the coastal hilltops and will be the hills of sonoma county and half moon bay sees a chance of light rain showers midday. skies start to clear as we get into monday and tuesday us will lead us to warm temperatures and humidity comes down and temperatures rebound back up and by tuesday, back to the upper 80s to wednesday right now trending to be the warmest day of the week,

idaho pride event yesterday, police were tipped off about a u-haul then the men in white masks, officers pulled over the truck and arrested 31 people for conspiracy to riot during pride at the park. as you can see, they were all dressed alike and their faces covered by masks and sunglasses. the sheriff's office says they have been getting tips about groups planning to disrupt pride for days. the men allegedly had a smoker and shields and shin guards. >> it is clear to us based on the gear that the individuals had all with them, that they had in the possession and a u- haul with them along with paperwork received from them that they came to riot downtown . >> the men appear to be affiliated with the group patriot front, the individuals are reportedly from at least five different states. and the public hearings on the january sixth insurrection have begun. political analyst larry gersten is here to help make sense of what we are learning.

good morning. so remind how the committee got here. >> let's take a look backward for sex. let's go back to the january sixth 2021 assault and that is a good word, assault on the capital. it is not another protest. it was carefully planned in advance, we knew this before the hearings, but we knew they can with weapons and they planned well in advance, they had knowledge of the inside of the capital and we knew that the insurrectionist bristol prepared that even constructed gallows intended for mike pence in advance, this was not something that happened on a moment. it was something that was planned well in advance and that is what led to the committee, the january sixth committee and the hearings that they started last thursday night. >> it is still such startling images. the committee had the first televised session last thursday with seven more to come. what we learned that we didn't

know before? >> they have a tremendous amount of information from 1000 interviews, one 40,000 nts if y that, and thursday, we heard from the principals, and my say the principles, i mean people who were very close to president trump, bill barcomb the former attorney general mark short, the vice president's chief of staff, even his daughter, trump's daughter ivanka trump all of them said the same thing in that the president knew, he knew that he lost the election. not that he believed it and it was stolen, he knew that he lost the election. that is critical. that is critical knowledge and from there, they go far for the next few weeks. it's important to say one more thing before we go on to the next question that is, remember, the committee can only investigate, they can't charge, but what they get out of the investigation, who knows where it will go, perhaps the attorney general. >> this is just the beginning.

there are several more hearings in the coming weeks, what can we expect to come out of this? >> six more hearings beginning tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. our time, they will look into the connections if they existed and legally they did. >> connections between trump often advance and they can participate in helping anyway, look at it election between trump and those folks who tried to change the election outcome in several states. we know that happen, what kind of connection was there and also perhaps the most important thing, what was the president doing during those 187 minutes when this whole mess, this will threat to the nation was going on? and we are learning this now and we will learn much more again from the principals, those who were close to it the next 2 to 3 weeks. it should be riveting. >> i know you will help us continue to break it all down.
