here, let's talk about the forecast. vianey, those doctors have been cooler for us? >> they have been. if you will be looking at the wash party, it will be breezy at times. the temperatures today, going to get gusty. also, around the peninsula, a a live look now in san francisco. you talked about it being cooler. it will be cooler today. so, if you notice that it's not as hot as the interior, that's because the upper system just went to our north with a couple of high clouds here and there with 74 degrees as a good high for today. 66 in san francisco. then, we get some changes into the weekend. i'll get to that in a second. vianey, mild alerts here with 45 minutes out of brentwood , jamming upside dyer road with a crash on one lane. no major injuries down towards 580, but the rest of the bay, a

light, easy drive right now with anywhere approaching the bay bridge. also, san jose with the traffic building once again in sam martin. we will check the traffic coming up. once again, all eyes on wall street. here's a look at the futures ahead of the opening bell in about 20 minutes. wall street is set to open up after games yesterday, this, following the historic and aggressive move to fight inflation. the federal reserve has expected -- is hiking interest rates by 3/4 of a point, biggest increase in more than 30 years. "today in the bay's" jackson is live this is the third highest rate hike this year, and still more to come? >> reporter: yeah. good morning, mark. pledging to do whatever it takes to ease inflation, while seeking to avoid a recession.

the federal reserve, going big, raising interest rates by 3/4 of a percent, biggest hike since 1994. >> we're strongly committed to bringing inflation back down, and moving expeditiously to do so. >> reporter: the move will make payments more excessive on everything from mortgages and car loans to big business loans. homebuyers in the market now remain cautious. >> i feel pressured to buy now, as opposed to waiting a few months, because who knows what the prices are going to be then. >> reporter: this, as american families are already struggling with high food and fuel prices. resident biting, slamming u.s. royal giants for record profits and putting pressure on them to do more. >> is calling for an increase in production, both producing and extracting oil, but also refining it her >> reporter: the oil industry says, the u.s. refineries today are running at or near capacity. but still, demand is outpacing

supplies. meanwhile, people are doing what they can to stay afloat. some, even selling their plasma to make ends meet >> in order to make sure that there is enough food to go around, and the lights are on, and i've got gas, gas tank. >> reporter: others, reconsidering summer vacation demand due to higher prices in gas, as more americans feel the financial stress. the biden administration says, driving down costs remains a top priority. chairman powell says, additional rate hikes are likely. the fed is expected to raise interest rates by at least another half a percent later this month or next month. marcus? >> not feeling this pinch right now. not the interest rates or the hikes. thank you, jackson. also, on capitol hill

today, the general six riot, once again with a hearing underway later this morning. vice president mike pence and the pressure that he was under before and during that season of the capitol is the focus today. "today in the bay" is in washington with what we can expect. >> reporter: hey, kris. good morning. today's committee is all about the pressure campaign on mike pence. heard it in december, and feels it every day with more and more leaders with president trump getting thrown out with all eyes leaning on pants, doing something that has never been done before. set aside the state electoral votes, and to declare trump the winner. the committee intends to show today, exclusively from a member of the committee and some of the testimony we are going to see today, his pens consistently stood up to trump with legal advice telling him he couldn't do it, and he leaned extensively where he

said, he needed to follow the line follow the constitution. we're also going to hear about exactly how close a mob came to the vice president, who, as a committee member described to me in our interview, one windowpane away from the writers during the worst of the attack. we'll have more on that coming up this morning on "today." kris? >> thank you very much. the hearing started at 10:00 this morning. you can watch them here on nbc bay area in a special report. our team will bring you updates on what's coming out of those hearings later on tonight on nbc bay area news and at nbcbayarea.com. developing now, the biden administration says, it should be 44,000 pounds of specialty baby formula from switzerland to the u.s. today. this is amid the ongoing shortage. they say, the michigan plant that recently resumed production of baby formula shut down once again. avid says, the severe thunderstorms and heavy rain flooded part of the factory. they are forced to close the plant at this time. they have to work with a third- party to make sure the plant is safe to resume production.

avid says, this is the second setback and will halt production for a few more weeks. getting a grams of how the climate crisis is impacting farmers in the north bay. marin county crop report is out, and the lingering drought is definitely taking a toll. the data shows a loss of 5% of agriculture and commodities last year compared with 2020. dry conditions are impacting field crops and livestock, along with fruits and vegetables. according to reports, organic milk was once again the leading agricultural commodity in marin county. the production was down 80% last year. we just got a new drought update. meteorologist vianey arana is here. small showers are not going to make head of this, but what you make of it? >> absolutely. when it comes to shower activity on the radar, we get excited. this drought does get released and updated every single thursday. last week, small showers up to the north bay and parts of the

nap area, not registering it on this drought monitor, but maybe next week. compared to last week, this drought monitor saw no improvement. that means that 59.81% of the state of california remains under an extreme drought.if you look at the trend here, normally dry with the yellow, looking into the category with the red, extreme one. we also have a couple of areas still in the exceptional category. this goes through parts of our region. 100% of the state of california is under some sort of drought. we've got a long ways to go. right now, a lot the dry valley and interior is in that extreme category. the remainder, from the moderate to severe. that's for most spots. hopefully, we'll get more rain in the future, but not the near one. all right, mike. i will toss it over to you. talking about climate crisis, and heating, we have gas prices.

"today in the bay" is in boston with a preview of today's game. >> reporter: the morning. outside of td garden's, there's a nervous energy throughout boston, because the celtics are on the brink of elimination, and the dubs, one win away from winning the nba championship. on the eve of the biggest game of the season, the warriors and celtics held practices inside the garden. both teams seemed very relaxed during shootaround. closing out opponents has not been easy for the warriors. postseason, they failed to close out the previous three series in their first attempt. they expect game six to be the toughest test of the season. >> it's just not easy. you know, to close anybody out in the playoffs. there is no common thread. we're going to have to play really well today. >> reporter: klay thompson, the history of rising to the challenge offensively in the biggest moments. 12 career playoff game six is,

6:14 right now. as we grew into the weekend, one monday to friday, temperatures will be cool and comfortable with lots of sunshine this afternoon. it will be windy around the coast, though. more detail, coming up. right on the coast here out of oakland, the bay bridge those have a little backup with a clearing of lanes here. a good news with a big crash now cleared without any big injuries. we'll show you the slowdown coming up. all right. down the road from there, this is the tesla factory live this morning. the company is raising prices for all cars in the u.s. tesla's website shows the price

of the long-range model y increased by $3000. the company has delayed deliveries of some long-range models in the u.s. by up to a month, as well. the price hike comes as cost of the raw materials surge, including aluminum used in the car. learning new details about amazon's annual pandey shopping event. this year, it will kick off at 3:00 a.m. on july 12. runs through the 13th. a few weeks later than last year, but it's the usual summer timing. amazon is offering early deals on june 21st. the company hasn't given exact details on what will be on sale, but says, it will feature the lowest prices ever on select products, with sony, irobot and other brands. returning this morning, come on, barbie, let's go party. a first look at ryan gosling as ken in the upcoming barbie

i think people have warriors anxiety already for the beyonce party if she does release a visual album. the weather today is going to be fantastic. enjoying the warriors' game. in the city, though? at the chase center, i know they have the watch party. it will be windy at times. gusty, even, especially around the time when the game starts. so, right now, beautiful start to the thursday. look at those temperatures. we've got 50s right now. the temperatures are already changing and noticeable in some spots by up to five degrees now in livermore. it will been more noticeable into the afternoon, though. look at the daytime highs. notable, in the 70s, fantastic weather. san jose, a high of 74 today. looking at 70 it with a couple of areas in the inland spots towards the 80s, like concord, even to livermore in the upper 70s. oakland, 69. upper 60s with a couple of 70s in san francisco. then, upper 60s, winds from the

west at about 22 plus miles per hour into the afternoon. then, to the north, look at santa rosa. 70 degrees. seven-day forecast, pretty interesting to see the changes in the temperatures. it's not unnoticeable around the coast, but you might get a little bit of drizzle early on with that system passing to our north. you will notice, though, looking ahead to next week, wrapping back up into the 70s. so, good temperatures heading in towards friday and saturday, likely one of the coolest days. today is the start of a cooldown. sunday and monday, look what happens. we bumped up by as much as 10, 15 degrees for the interior valley. overnight lows, in the 60s. so, beautiful weekend with cooler temperatures. let's go ahead and check in with mike. good news, vianey, lanes are clearing with only about half of the time it took a short time ago. down into the 20s now to 580.

later this evening. full forecast, straight ahead. >> thank you, vianey. 6:31 right now. this morning, trying to make it in the bay, dealing with rising gas prices, surging inflation, and increasing debt. this week, the federal reserve has steps to try to calm down inflation. how long before the average american can feel it? the steps you can take to save money. at least, we hope we can save you money. today, "today in the bay" is live with more on that with sierra johnson. >> reporter: yes, good morning, kris. this has been hitting us all quite hard at the gas station . this chevron station right now, you can expect to pay $6.99 for a gallon of unleaded gas, with a rising cost of just everyday items like food. it is getting a little hard to manage, but with the federal rate hike, that may help cool things down a little bit. so, the central bank announced

the rate increase of an amount that makes it obvious they are trying to help fight rising costs. it allows banks to borrow money from each other and has consumers spend less with a heightened demand for goods, one of the driving forces for inflation, slowing down. experts say, it will likely be a relief in the short-term. finance experts say, now is the time to get essentials to make ends meet. ways to save money when it comes to fuel, use less fuel by grouping trips together, driving the speed limit and avoid idling. grocery shopping, make a list of the items you want to buy and look for items that are on sale. in terms of medication, but websites like good rx, link health and compare prices. now, take a look at an expert's money-saving tips to further explain how inflation is impacting us all. >> one study says, about $133

live in the bay, sierra johnson. helpful information there. thank you, cierra. one of the slowest to bounce back from the pandemic? this can benefit you if you are a renter. a list of findings from a department of san francisco, saying, the only metro area in the u.s. where people are paying less for apartments now compared to before the pandemic. currently, a one-bedroom apartment in san francisco averages about $1900. that's about 3% more than the outset of the pandemic. about 5% of apartments, however, are vacant right now. bad news for the city, good news for renters. in san jose, you can see there, it is the slowest rate of recovery market in the country. the average cost for a 1 bedroom, nearly $2200 per month. >> san francisco apartment,

missing while fighting in ukraine. she says, her son, alexander, hasn't been heard from for days. he and other veterans, another one there, traveling from alabama to ukraine to fight against russian forces. they say, local media reports say, her son may have been captured, but can't confirm those details. alexander joined the army after 9/11 and served to dig towards and iraq. an all-new interview on "the today show" this morning, she opens up about his decision to go to ukraine and five. >> he said, mom, i have to go and help train those soldiers, so that people cannot get the confidence that he can just roll over in ukraine and other countries, because eventually, they will tackle us. >> out nbc news team reached out to the state department on the ground overnight and says, it's aware of reports of the missing soldiers, but still working for more. we can watch the full it interview this morning on "the today show," coming up ready

after us on "today in the bay." moving closer to combating the, crisis. san jose, set the finalize the removal of mandatory parking minimums. later this year, the city requires developers to build on- site parking alongside new commercial and residential development right now, 51% of all carbon emissions come from help types of cars. the city's goal is to go carbon neutral by 2030 in order to get there with people reducing their travel by car by at least 20%. the city is hoping this will mean you will take more of the transit. this morning, excitement is brewing in the south bay, because later today, we find out if levi cut for the 2026 fifa world cup. how about a trophy like this from across the bay area? large, the biggest event in the world.there's people from all over the world that like to travel to the event to watch the games. soccer is called the world's game for a reason. it's almost like 100,000 or 1 million, or hundred billion people who play soccer in amateur leagues around the world. so for the san francisco bartenders and everyone in the bay area, this can be great to make it happen. it will be great for the area, just because football teams have money and people who come to visit and things like that. >> we haven't had men's in the bay area since '94 or '99. you are a former professional soccer player. you are very similar earlier in the sport, and you are familiar with it. is it as popular in the united states? if not, why? >> think about, compared to the nfl. you see the numbers for the
