right now at 5:30 pm, a developing disaster in philadelphia. firefighters trap after a building crumbles with them inside. wanted not survive. juneteenth is a celebration of freedom but, in buffalo, it comes in the wake of tragedy. the promise made to the lot community of the city. and the clash caught on camera in castro valley involving vendors and security guards. how this all started in what is being done next. the news at 5:30 pm starts right now. thank you, for joining us. i am terry mcsweeney. >> and diane audrey asistio.

a clash between the vendors and security guards has gone viral. it happened in castro valley last weekend. >> reporter: video is servicing showing security guards teper spring and knocking over the stands of people selling hotdogs in a parking lot. it happened last week. teresa martinez was one of the vendors there. >> we were just trying to make a living. truck she says they have been coming here for years to sell hotdogs. >> we are just selling hot dogs in front of the intersection. we don't have permits to do that. we are just trying to get money to survive. >> reporter: the park district says it was rented out by a private party and they are required to hire their own

security. >> we are concerned and we are currently reviewing the events and investigating. >> reporter: the promoter is named farrollon. the vendors were told to leave and when they did not , things escalated. >> there are ways to talk with people and deal with them. >> reporter: sheriff's deputy showed up and they say that security guards can use the pepper spray to protect themselves or other people to stop a fight or gain compliance. the promoter says he is looking into it as well and talking with the security company. we have an update on the killing of a 15-year-old boy in east palo alto. two arrests have been made.

two under age boys were arrested for murder related to the deadly shooting hundred 13. several agencies were involved in serving arrest warrants. the seizure of an semi automatic gun with an extended magazine took place. police are investigating a daily drive-by shooting in fremont that happened late last night at maori avenue and fremont boulevard. police received a call about shots between two cars. when they arrived at the scene they found the car crossed over the center median with the driver dead. they do not have any suspects yet. hundreds are expect did to gather to mourn the deaths of two officers that were shot and killed last week. they were dispatch to a hotel for a domestic violence call. one officer was a 22 year victim

veteran and the other was a rookie. there will be a candlelight vigil at the police department. a firefighter lost his life after a building collapsed on him in philadelphia. flames were out when the building collapsed. firefighters sent an inspector were trapped inside of the building. one firefighter identified as a 27 year veteran died. the others were rescued and taken to a hospital. >> unfortunately, this collapse happened quickly and in a way that made it difficult for us to rescue everybody. despite the best efforts of every member. our folks never give up. >> the firefighters taken to the hospital are expected to be okay. the city of buffalo, new york is observing juneteenth. this is the 47th consecutive year for the juneteenth

festival. it is one of the largest in the united states. this year, the shadow of the shooting at an area grocery store looms over it. the festival continues into tomorrow. the new york governor announced a large aid package for the community of buffalo to help people rebound. about $53 million will go towards addressing food, housing, and transportation needs, among other things. a commission is being formed to memorialize the lives that were lost that day. >> this is a long-standing personal commitment from the governor of new york state to this community and together we will start to make a difference a look this community know that we matter and to give them hope that better days lie ahead. >> the governor says that the goal is to manage disparities that have been present for

decades. let's take a look at sfo. it was another day of cancellations and delays. there were nine cancellations. flights across the country were impacted by severe weather and labor shortages. according to flight aware about 2700 flights were delayed and 750 were canceled. many people who put off trips during the pandemic are taking vacations and that is putting more strain on an industry struggling to keep up. recently, airline leaders met about problems and then that included buttigieg. his flight was canceled the very next day. they want to make sure that they live up to consumer protection standards and they want to protect against

emancipation proclamation but many enslaved people in alliston, texas did not learn they were free until two years later. >> it is something that commemorates the freedom struggle. is somebody that has descendents from slave people this is important . >> reporter: they have performances and workshops. they have a list of books and resources to teach children about the celebration. it includes delicious food. the cafi will have a juneteenth menu including coleslaw, potato salad, and a whole hog. they are also teaching virtual cooking classes so you can learn how to prepare these things yourself. >> i think the legacy of food and fellowship is important. >> reporter: last year, it became a federal holiday. >> everyone can enjoy and respectfully think about the

they are running and walking for a very important event for huntington's disease. it causes the breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. volunteers are participating in the run and walk. if you cannot run a 10k, volunteers also have the option to walk a 5k.

surgery or become the first patient at the hospital to undergo radiofrequency ablation. >> i said, let's do it. and, we did. >> it is estimated that about 50% of people who reach the age of 60 we will have will have a thyroid nodule. >> most people won't notice it but in 10-15% of people it will grow and cause a feeling of choking. the doctor says the ablation option can shrink the nodule while keeping the fiber it intact. >> it is basically going in and burning the nodule from the inside so that it shrivels up and shrinks. if she had gotten surgery she would have about a 15-30% chance of needing thyroid hormone therapy afterwards. >> reporter: beatrice had little downtime and it is now 50% smaller. she said she is happy that

surgery was not the only option but she is also happy to have her quality of life back. >> i have a lot of life left and they want to have a good quality of life. i have a lot of years ahead of me. >> that is a hopeful story. all right. rob mayeda is joining us now. that is just a gorgeous picture back there. >> yes. we have beautiful conditions outside. mosley 60s and 70s today. you can see the seabreeze, with southwest at 12 miles per hour. oakland is also in the 70s. and here is probably the most interesting number. dublin is just 70 degrees below average. keep in mind that by tuesday, that number will be closer to 100 degrees as temperatures

start to climb. we have 60s and 70s and also, part of the cooler weather pattern that brought the -- the heating helped boost the clouds. and showers into solano county as well. now, showers and even snow at times across the sierra. going into sunday morning, mostly clear skies and chances of showers are long gone. we will see warmer temperatures as we go through the weekend. clear skies and 50s. tomorrow about 80 degrees in fairfield and 60s and 70s from san francisco down to oakland. notice the east bay. into the 80s on sunday and same story towards santa rosa.

we are seeing some 90s and linda and comfortable weather for the warriors championship parade. 82 in oakland but things get more uncomfortable on tuesday. the ocean near condition essentially stops. we have 80s and 90s at bayside and over 100 degree temperatures east of 680 and even downtown san jose we could see upper 90s. staying hot inland and then 90 or 100 degree temperatures. temperatures cooling going into thursday and friday. there is a wildcard in the forecast. southern sierra and southern california are going to be seeing clouds coming up out of the south. in our case, it is moisture coming away from the weakening storm. this could end up out towards the sierra and southern california.

a few days of heat and we will have to watch for lightning across the sierra and southern california. that is something we have to watch for. you will want to find the air conditioning on tuesday. downtown temperatures in the 80s. valleys, we have it right there. we could be looking at five days of 90s and upper 90s and even 100 degree temperatures tuesday and wednesday. the best weather we are seeing, and a big reversal on the big warm-up monday through wednesday.
