up and awake this morning on good monday morning, so much to get to, let's get started with a look at the forecast. a lot of people be outside today. >> starting to warm up out there as the heat comes back to the bay area, and through the next few days, we will see our inland temperatures into the 90s, even over 100 we are bracing for that. at the same time we have increased fire danger and monitoring for the chance of dry lightning. that is something we not seen in a while. let's get a look at today's high temperatures reaching 92 in livermore, 85 fremont and oakland headed for 82, and 89 novato will continue to watch that and talk more about the rest of the week, good morning mike, how is it looking for early morning commuters? >> looking great, let's take a look at the roadways and see the colors. the little yellow out of the altamont pass. chp says it not a problem,

we are at the base of market, you see parts of the road are shut down in anticipation of the parade that will take place later this morning. the last time they had a victory celebration and the market was 2014 and that is when the giants won the last world series the warriors celebrated their championships in 2016 and 17 and 18 in oakland when they were playing the oakland arena. this is the first championship out of the chase arena. the market street parade begins at 11:20 this morning. organizers spent the weekend setting up for today's salvation. the city is expecting more than 100,000 people from all over the bay area to be here. they will hear to see steph curry, draymond green and the rest of the team and the championship trophy throughout downtown. >> the trophy, i wanted to see what it looks like.

planning to go to the parade today you are being encouraged to take public transit. several bay area transit agencies have tranced up get you there. >> tough enough to park in the city on a regular day. add 12 trains to the regular weekday service, and the red and yellow line entrance from the east bay into the city will not stop at the montgomery street station before the parade. and so you have to get off at embarcadero, powell street or the civic center. >> no trains well, actually they are running extra trains for us this morning for extra capacity. they will run on the regular weekend schedule and muni rerouting buses and cable cars, several dozen lines impacted and a link is posted on our website, and mike will have a full update throughout the morning. now getting to what the route will be, we have posted everything you need to know on our website and we have been reporting for and on days go to

happy juneteenth to you, also we are celebrating the warriors today. the parade starts out at 11:20, it will be about 72 in san francisco. it will be warming up as we go through late morning. but a breezy wind. i look at all of the microclimates as temperatures continue to rise coming up in the forecast in a few minutes. south bound there was a crash further south of this shot, it did clear up.

this is a live look at san francisco right now. very quiet, but we know about 11:00 this morning that the city will be rocking, celebrating her 2022 nba champs, the golden state warriors. so nice to say that. >> always nice to say that, we are the champions. a lot of people will be out there along that route, kari, how will the weather shape up ? >> it will start to warm up, even for san francisco and we will see the warmer temperatures around the bay area, but at the same time a

little more pollution in the air, hotter temperatures and higher ozone. we see it come up today to the moderate category, especially the east bay and also the santa clara valley. if you are sensitive to all of the pollution, you may want to limit your time outside. look at walnut creek and holiday ships up with temperatures in the mid 60s, partly cloudy, and hot this afternoon. unfortunately nothing compared to what you are seeing at the bottom of the screen. temperatures will peak tomorrow even hotter. we are headed to 82 today, 73 in san francisco, mid-70s around the parade route, 85 today in fremont, reaching 90 in morgan hill. it will once again reach over 100 tomorrow. that is the peak of the heat but look at their field, up to 104, concord and livermore reaching 103. still pretty hot on wednesday. it is coming down a few degrees in some spots as we get more clouds moving in. as clouds move in with the

increase in humidity. so we start to see that surge of monsoonal moisture across the desert southwest. sometimes it makes it here to the bay area. with that we see possibility of spotty showers and thunderstorms popping up around the southern sierra. that will also create the potential of dry lightning. that basically means you get lightning without the rain, and that could raise our fire risk. we saw this happen in 2020. i don't think it will be on that magnitude, but we will watch out for that potential of isolated lightning strikes on wednesday into thursday. temperatures once again, the first day of summer and it will make its presence known. it will reach into the upper 90s, over 100 areas, only slightly cooler for the end of the week it really a pretty warm week ahead. even going into the weekend.

there is so much going on this week with the first day of summer, we have the pride parades and all the festivities going on this weekend. san francisco was really nice for saturday and sunday with highs reaching into the low 70s. were watching all of that for you, mike what are you watching for the commute. >> i'm distracting everyone from the high temperatures and focusing on the pride weekend, focusing on the now, starting at 11 a.m., or exceeds me 11:00 p.m. for this closure here because of the work they are doing on the six bridges project, it is continuing. it has been marked. it will be cleared by the morning commute on the east shore freeway, just a smooth drive. more traffic getting into the city today for the 11:00 parade, and crowds will start coming in as early as 9:00 a.m. and crowds will start coming in as early as 9:00 a.m. we'll talk about transit as well, no crowd for transit or the roadways into the south bay, preparing for the first

one to leave the area and then hit san jose about 5:40. >> thank you mike. one south bay cities getting a big boost in funds to help young residents make it. santa clara county got a $14 million grant to turn the san jose hotel for housing for struggling young adults. this is on north phillips street and it will be renovated in the coming year. there will be 43 units turned into apartments for homeless parents looking to hear back on their feet. and also adults between 18 and 25 transitioning out of foster care and other adverse situations. >> with hundreds and hundreds of youth on the streets needing permanent housing. and so this targets a very fragile and vulnerable group of people that should get assistance. this is an exciting and wonderful partnership.

>> the grant is through project home key and people should be able to move in next summer. this past week the federal reserve announced the largest interest rate hike 30 years, you know this because we have been talking about it, but more rate hikes are likely on the horizon. that means the cost of loans, especially home mortgages, are going up. we explain how this could impact potential homebuyers, and breaks down the age-old debate, should we rent or buy? >> reporter: from wall street to main street, all eyes are on the federal reserve. >> just about every thing we buy on credit will get more expensive. >> has promised the federal reserve is raising interest rates to contain inflation, but only inflaming the hearts of would-be homebuyers. average 30 year mortgage interest rates tops 5%, up from less than 3% when you're ago. meanwhile the median home price is nearly 430,000 dollars last
