about heat advisory that starts at 10:00 this morning. make sure you have the water bottle and plan your day around some of the hottest hours of the day. do your outdoor activity early and there is are risk of heat related illnesses. if you feel dizzy or something isn't right, take care of yourself and get to air conditioning. this is the reason why. we are heading to over 100 for a lot of spots and will break records even for the first day of summer . san francisco will be 80s which will be hot without air conditioning. oakland will exceed the record of 91 that was said in 1954. we will see long term records fall and record heat. how is the traffic? >> a crash involving a motorcycle. the southbound side of madison.

musk has reiterated his plans to cut about 10% of his tesla workforce. he said so during an interview with bloomberg. he says he has a super bad feeling about the economy. now, this guy is not as famous as elon musk that has a different feeling. he expects the economy to expand this quarter. the classic definition of recession is two quarters of negative growth. if he is right, we will not be in a recession and we shall see . in considering a gas tax holiday to bring down prices. he has been tried with varying results. it would decrease work on roads and other things paid for by the gas tax. we could break it down here. the federal gas tax accounts for for about $.18 per gallon at

in. especially with temperatures in the 90s over the next few days, it will be dangerous heat even as the temperatures come down. mostly 70s the rest of the week and then outside for the pride festivities this weekend, low 70s and nicer weather in the city. and do you have a traffic alert? >> we do at the south bay and it has been changing over the last few seconds. all lanes were blocked and it turns out north 101 around the matilda exit where this exists. the reports are that all lanes are blocked. again, route 101 approaching 247 . that's important for the south bay and san jose is a little further south. we will see slowing with the first burst of traffic.

we will get to the story today. >> first let's go to meteorologist kari hall , you have been tracking how hot is going to be. >> we see high levels of ozone as the air has not cleared up too much. if that is mainly east bay. as you had to work, plan the day around the heat. get in though zach cavities before 10:00 and then temperatures go from the upper 50s to the upper 80s and eventually hit 93. 101 in martinez and santa rosa today will reach 102 degrees. we are dealing with extreme heat here. and bob is out looking at where some of those temperatures reach

over 100. bob. >> and it is the air-quality management that issued the alert to spare your car today. walk, bike, carpool or take public transit if you head to the office today to reduce the levels of smog and pollution expected. the smog created by the cars and hot temperatures will make the air unhealthy today, especially for people with underlying health conditions. it can trigger asthma and inflame the lining of the lungs and make things work worse like asthma. we are in the tri-valley with temperatures expected to approach 100 in the afternoon. also check with your local county to see if there are

around you. mike, you have been tracking alerts. >> this is south bay and this is the timing with no injuries reported and that is important. northbound 101, we have an overturned dump truck leaving one lane open. three are blocked. the large truck is on its side. this is traveling north . and for folks traveling through the south bay, we are looking at travel northbound on 101 and it is just fine. central expressway is an option to avoid northbound 101. those are two good options for you. this just came in in the last 30 seconds.

extremely hot today. tomorrow, temperatures come down for the coastal areas. for the valleys, it's going to be hot and humid which is going to make it feel just as hot as today. into thursday, highs in the mid 90s for the tri-valley and fairfield . san francisco in the low 70s. as temperatures come down a few degrees, humidity will be increasing. looking at the bottom of the screen, you will see a lightning icon. some of the storms into the sierra with monsoon moisture from the desert southwest could increase the chance of thunderstorms. what we saw in 2020 was thunderstorms moving in during the summer and then the rain dried up. hopefully we don't have a situation like that because it can start fires. we have moisture moving in thursday and we see the water
