some drizzle into the early morning hours. that is what we are expecting to see for the majority of the day around the coastline. it will be slow to clear. a live look at san francisco. take a look at the satellite radar. we have limited visibility around the coastline. but it is going to be cool and comfortable. current temperatures heading out the door, 58, san jose. 50s to the north bay. and note the changes in the temperatures compared to the last 24 hours. about a degree cooler in oakland. take a look at the headlines. i will take you through all of these coming up in the full forecast. it will be windy at times and increasing into the evening. i will guide you through the timing of that in a few minutes. itof july holiday weekend. there is a plea from bay area firefighters and police for people to celebrate safely. fireworks are ready to light up the night sky again. law enforcement said these fireworks should only be done

website on nbcbayarea.com. in the south pay, morgan hill activated its community response team to patrol for illegal fireworks there. the team will be on alert through monday. people who are caught could face a fine of up to $5000. since january, morgan hill has received more than 600 calls related to illegal fireworks. there are a slew of legal and safe fireworks shows happening across the bay area this weekend. we created this list that has nearly all the bay area celebrations. just go to nbcbayarea.com and click on the list at the top and the trending bar. apparently, neither record gas prices or warnings from airlines are keeping people from traveling this fourth of july holiday weekend. airlines have warned passengers to prepare for the worst in terms of delays and cancellations.

further because of staffing shortages. turning out to an armed robbery at an east way grocery store. danville police are on the lookout this morning for the people who robbed the trader joe's on railroad avenue at gunpoint yesterday. fortunately, nobody was injured. in the south bay, san jose police need your help recognizing these three men on your screen. san jose police say it was back on march 3rd that these three were turned away from buying beer at a convenience store on south winchester boulevard. so one of the men came back and stole a case. the clerk chased him into the parking lot where one of the other two shot at the clerk barely missing his head. if you recognize any of these men, you are asked to call san jose police. loitering for the purposes of engaging in prostitution will be decriminalized in california. yesterday, governor gavin newsom signed a bill

sponsored by the state senator of san francisco. scott weiner said lawyering laws are used by police to discriminate against people of color and the lgbtq community. in a statement, governor gavin newsom said, "to be clear, this bill does not legalize prostitution. it simply revokes provisions of the law that have led to the disproportionate harassment of women and transgender adults. while i agree with the intent and i'm signing the legislation, we must be cautious about the implementation." california republican's are pushing back against the new law saying that it will jeopardize the fight against human trafficking. senate republican leader scott wilkes said, "california as a hub for this crisis. our government should be doing everything it can to combat it, not enable perpetrators." there is growing speculation as governor gavin newsom run for reelection in california about some adds he will be running in florida

power boat out of control in the middle of the bay. there was no one driving it because the boat collided with another boat launching the driver overboard. people from the sailboat pulled him from the water but he later died. we learned the man was 65-year- old michael wells from contra costa county. there is no word on whether he was wearing a life vest or who caused the crash. people and one south bay community are grateful for a neighbor who may have prevented a wildfire steps from their home and it was all caught on camera. >> you can't light fires there. >> that was the san jose homeowner confronting a man who he believes was trying to start a fire in a dry creek bed behind his home near independence high school. that area surrounded by dry brush and homes. thankfully, no fire but we saw the kindling still there yesterday. >> there are kids here and it is scary. >> i definitely think it is

scary. every now and then, i see people here. >> san jose firefighters are sharing the video with police for further investigation. >> b.a.r.t. has an ongoing issue. pigeons at one of their stations. they found a solution, and even scarier bird. meet pac-man, the new hawk that nbcbayarea is using to help with these notorious pigeons. pac-man is known for being more social than other raptors. they also tend to work people. the hawk and his handler have a simple goal. shrink the number of pigeons hanging out at the station. last month, pac-man spent three days a week at the station and the anwas dramatic. >> we started noticing a difference right away. and it has been getting lower and lower.

i know people are wondering what the fireworks. right now, the marine layer is on the coast. if you are in san francisco around the peninsula or even the interior valleys, and san jose we do have the cloud cover. it will be slow to clear for the valley but it will pretty much hang out around san francisco all day long. we will get the peaks of sunshine and limited visibility. take a look at the radar. we are going to be cool again today. cooler weather is expected. we have all the cloud cover. morning clouds and drizzle. and then some clearing inland and some clouds early sunday. look how nice it looks sunday afternoon. so today will be cloudy. heading toward monday, things will change it will take you to that in a second. currently temperatures out the door, in the 50s. pretty comfortable. not too cold. 53, san francisco. we also have an onshore flow.

trending bar. we have breaking news to tell you about before we go. one driver is in the hospital after crashing into a poll and being ejected from the car. officials warned that there are closures in the area near moore park avenue in san jose. the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. this morning at moore park aaron it avenue and sheraton drive. you can see the car here. fire crewsdriver is suffering serious injuries. we will shift gears and tell you about this happening today. hundreds of people are lacing up their running shoes. this live look at discovery meadow park in san jose is for the stars and strides community run. there is a 5k and a 10k and a kid's run. all proceeds benefit the valley medical center foundation. the event starts at 8:00 a.m. as i mentioned and that is any moment now.
