for fireworks. good morning on this fourth of july. day off. let's look at the forecast for you. . a lot of people want to watch fireworks tonight, hopefully clear skies. >> clouds are rolling by. just enough that we can see fireworks in the sky. as you are heading out traveling through the tri- valley, it looks, all clear out there. can hang out with us a little longer, temperatures in the 50s. mostly cloudy morning but it will clear out quickly. east bay the temperatures in the mid-70s early in the afternoon. also have the san jose rose, white, blue parade. it temperatures in the low 60s. bring the jacket. a later

throughout the morning. temperatures low to mid-70s today. heading up toward 77 degrees for a high this afternoon. too cool for swimming but perfect for grilling and spending time outside. we will talk to you about the fireworks forecast in a few minutes. check the area firefighters are blaming several fires over the weekend because of illegal fireworks. crews are hoping that tonight will not be more. >> how firefighters are preparing for tonight. >> reporter: they are not just hoping for the best but preparing for the best. conditions are dry in the bay area. still folks are setting off illegal fireworks. in one night, contra costa battles four wildfires that were started by illegal fireworks. this is where the

contra costa county fire district is. the fire marshal said they have responded to the grass fires and they also have helped with three house fires that burned, as well. we have cooler weather today. law enforcement is being proactive about talking about enforcement early. still residents are breaking the law. >> this can happen in a second. it's scary. >> you are taking your life in your hands. the city put on a spectacular show as an alternative to fireworks in the sky. 500 synchronized drones flying around.

fireworks are illegal in many bay area communities. the city has hired this and in some places you could be responsible even if you don't set off the fireworks. >> those are good warnings. crews say to lose the fireworks and leave it to the professionals. a fireworks display tonight. cameras are there and they are setting up near fisherman's wolf wharf. that's where they plan to set off fireworks at 9:30. across the bay in oakland, the city is gearing up, as well. some popular spots are shut down because of fire danger. it's too dry and officials don't want to take a chance

with illegal fireworks. lake shore avenue and lake merritt is close. also police will set up presence across the city. >> fourth of july fireworks send it to many americans to the emergency room. 15,000 people were injured and had to be lifted to the emergency room. some with many types of burns. some our kids. >> the consequences, every year we see individuals who have loan up fingers or part of their hand. individuals with severe eye injuries. sparklers got poked into someone's i. and people with devastating injuries that have long-term consequences from a cosmetic standpoint with scarring. also injuries to the hand. >> this dr. is the head of the

regional burn unit at santa clara county regional medical. in her experience, and no such thing as safe fireworks. sparklers even, can be 2000 degrees. we are expecting big crowds heading into the city for fireworks. also adding two south down trains at the end of the south down show. the last to leave the city is 12:05 a.m. buses and light rail will operate on their sunday schedule. real-time monitoring will take place from 6:00 p.m. to midnight. parking meters and nightly monitoring will go on as normal. a live look here at sfo. holiday travel is in full swing.

50s. temperatures in the upper 60s also around the bay area. this is cooler than normal as we head to the upper 70s in the east bay. a couple of spots in the low 80s like livermore. i'm checking out where you may find lower gas prices. if you are traveling on the fourth to some of the destination. some regions are under six dollars per gallon. in some places 5:97 per gallon. prices are $5.89 a gallon in this area. we're keeping an eye download t app to get the latest on gas prices. a new video showing a fireworks spectacular down in san diego.

you haven't seen fireworks tonight, that's the big question. throughout the day, temperatures near 70 degrees. look at the forecast for the evening as the sun set and fog rolls in. sometimes you can see the fireworks and other times you can hear it but don't see anything. that's a possibility in san francisco. for the inland area, it will be nice and clear. 77 in dublin. 81 in concord. 73 in san mateo. going into tomorrow, more of the same. we will start out with clouds and then it will clear out for inland areas. headed for the low 80s. cooler on wednesday with some breeze. we also don't see this in early july, rain to the north of us. cold front keeping temperatures cooler. and gilroy, it will warm up by

welcome back, 6:23. a person behind bars accused of stabbing a man at a bar station. it happened last night at union city. that victim was walking with his wife and child in someone stabbed him in the neck without provocation. he was rushed to the hospital and expected to survive. now this person faces attempted murder charges. we will work on the story to find out what the possible motive is. it takes a lot to make it in the bay.

bringing traffic to a halt. this is in vallejo. it brought out a huge response from police. all of this happening near the silver kingdom. this is where the ground meets highway 37. you can also see fireworks going off. those are illegal in vallejo. someone was pointing lasers at police helicopters overhead. police are not commenting, so far. in san jose, police are trying to track down illegal sideshows. saturday night, they handed out hundreds of tickets. this snapchat video of the latest sideshow. this is it 10th and east elma avenue and around the block . they arrested seven people. and ended up with 700 citations.

as you mentioned, the fireworks are being loaded onto the barge. we've got a couple things to keep in mind if you are planning to head out and watch tonight. the fourth of july fireworks show will be on the northern waterfront. the best place to watch is on the hyde street harbor and fisherman's wharf. also. 39 and 43 walkways. you may watch it all the way out here where we are in the marina. also the port of san francisco, pretty straightforward. make your reservations and your viewing spot early. take public transit and dress in layers. the fireworks show was banned here in 2021. but they are hoping this year we will see the pre-pandemic numbers. >> being able to come again and

week. developing out of sacramento county. as many as three people have believed to have drowned. people are called to the area near the delta. an 8-year-old child started struggling in the water. three men were there, part of a soccer team camping trip, went in the water to try to save the child. one man tried to make it to the shore safely but there have been no signs of the other men. >> they just disappeared. >> still searching for the men. they are issuing a warning that the current in the water is very strong. an investigation in the north bay after a plane crashed in a hangar in the airport. just before 7:00 last night.

6:43. in pittsburgh low 60s. mostly sunny skies. we had to the mid-70s. it's nice to have cooler temperatures. it's also going to be windy. i'm tracking the rest of the forecast coming up. as you head out on the road drivetime from contra costa county to alameda county, no major issues and hopefully it continues to be that way as we stay safe on this holiday. more coming up in a few minutes. struck just coming into the newsroom. one person dead and five others injured in a shooting outside of the sacramento club. it happened around closing time outside of another nightclub. near the state capital. so far, no arrests have been made to the police are not saying this is a random shooting. protest over the deadly police shooting of this person

in akron, ohio. people took to the streets to demand justice overnight. at one point, police fired tear gas canisters outside the justice center. also, a dumpster was set on fire. this came after police released disturbing body cam videos. it said that walker received 16 gunshot wounds and was killed by police. he was unarmed at the time of the shooting. something was found in his car. one month prior, walker lost his fiancee. the 25-year-old had no criminal record. he wasn't a criminal. he obviously was in pain. he didn't deserve to die.

>> eight officers involved have not been identified but they have been placed on leave. developing in denmark. three people are dead and three others critically wounded following a shooting at a shopping mall. gunmen opened fire in copenhagen. they arrested a 22-year-old suspect with a rifle and ammunition. he does not have a criminal record. police are not revealing a motive in the attack. he will be in court today. we are getting our first look at an ad that governor gavin newsom is running today in florida. >> we urge you all to join the fight and join us in california where we believe freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and the freedom to let. >> freedoms are under attack in

also in marin county and san rafael. little more comfortable middle of the day. this is going on throughout the day. at 9:30 it will be 64 degrees. no matter where you are, make sure you have a jacket because the temperatures will drop after we hit the mid-to high 70s . there will be a strong ocean breeze picking up and carried the cooler temperatures to the inland valley. we also see rain to the north. also along some of our coastline. we are seeing that continue to keep temperatures nice and cool first santa rosa. take a look at 10 day temperature trend. up a few more. degrees heading to the low 80s. still not seeing major spikes in temperatures. as we go throughout the next several days, go back to work or get out for the weekend.
