actions leaders are considering to help you make it in the bay. this is today in the bank, streaming on apple tv and online. thank you for joining with us. gary, you are looking at a big story out of the east bay. >> that is happening this morning as we are seeing the marsh fire still causing a problem for each car county. smoke from this six week old fire is still smoldering in expected to impact pittsburgh, antioch, oakley and brentwood. some of the air-quality sensors are very unhealthy, you are advised to keep the windows closed as well as run air conditioning and air purifiers,

if you have them. we are in the low 60s and we will see temperature starting to warm up as we had there late morning. it will be a fairly warm day but it comes up a few degrees compared to what we have had a recently. the drought monitor was updated recently, let's compare to the new update this morning. we can see all the dark red which is the highest level of exceptional drought category. this morning, we are seeing an increase about 1%. that is where we do grill a lot of agriculture, so unfortunately, that will have a big impact there. there was no change, we are still in a severe drought and it becomes extreme as you had to the sacramento valley, that is a reminder we do need to conserve water. it will be slightly warmer in land but the coastal areas stay mild. oakland, 75 and 83 today in

overcapacity messages. our team is not seeing any issues, twitters own status page also not saying if their problems had. monkeypox continues to spread across the state. this is testing and vaccinations are ramping up. chris sanchez joins us live, good morning. >> reporter: we have all gotten a little used to all the swabbing and pcr test and now we know that qwest diagnostics is going to expand their testing to make more monkeypox testing available. they expect they will be able to process about 60,000 tests a week by the end of this month, lab workers will swap patients and send samples down to the lab in l.a. as of this week, there were 186 probable cases of monkeypox and while it's not as transmissible as covid-19, and spread through

good thursday morning, it's our morning start in dublin. that looks very hazy right now and it does not have that typical cloud cover we have seen in the past few days. as far as temperatures, slightly warmer but right now, it's a nice 58 degrees. we will check out all our microclimates coming up. we see the low clouds there but no problem for visibility, these drivers are good volume on the right. we will watch that, it's starting to slow in starting to build. wall street set to open lower, as investors look at earnings today from bag banks. the market slipping yesterday, the dell falling more than 100 points after consumer prices rose in june at the hottest annual pace since 1981, of more than 9%. you can see the concern, the

dow is set to open 500 points lower, the federal reserve will have to act more aggressively to bring down inflation. netflix choosing microscope to help deliver ads for a cheaper version, of a streaming service later this year. netflix has been commercial free for 15 years, they announced they would create an ad performance option. netflix has not announced the pricing. we know flying has been a pain this summer for a lot of folks and some travelers are hitting the road instead. is americans get in their cars for summer plans, google is sending tips on finding the fastest and cheapest route around. this comes as gas prices are still high, down 20% in the last few weeks. >> it helps you be more sustainable but it also helps you save money doing our fuel-

or two, and that will be the trend on saturday with fairfield hitting 99 degrees. compare that to half moon bay where we will see a high of 66. if you driving around the bay area, be prepared for all kinds of weather, jacket, shorts, sunscreen, all that stuff. the heat across the west continues as a strong dome of high pressure is causing the air to sink and as it descends, it also warms up. we will see more of that is heat continues to expand with record high temperatures. we have enough of an ocean breeze to keep temperatures more moderated. and spots like santa rosa, we are headed for 92 degrees on saturday but as we get a stronger breeze, the shift brings ties into the low 80s by tuesday into wednesday and our inland temperatures going up and down a few degrees

is up even more than the 9.1%. >> unfortunately, you are correct, as you mentioned, the department of labor reports that overall inflation is up 9.1% over the past year but the food you buy at the grocery store up 12.2% over the past 12 months, that's the biggest jump since 1979. take a look at your screen, butter and margarine up over 26% over the past year, cereals and bakery products up 14%, fruits and veggies. the bureau of labor statistics putting out those numbers, also found that meats, poultry and fish are still up year over year but that category did see a slight drop over the past month, down less than a percent over the past 30 days. prices continue to rise, the research service has predicted

that grocery store food prices will go up 8.5 to 9.5% this year, that will be more than double last year's 3 1/2 increase. the sta blames congestion at the ports and higher shipping costs, the war in ukraine has made things like wheat and corn more expensive. live in dublin, "today in the bay". they failed to flag any of the at risk primary lines that sparked 16 different fires. they prioritize keeping the power on in more urban areas at the expense of fortifying powerlines in rural areas where wildfires are at higher risk. one result is that executives and bonuses for reducing the number of homes that lost power. >> they knew wildfires killed people are and they chose not to protect people but instead to keep the power on for customers in urban and suburban counties, areas. so that those people would not complain that their power was shut off and the popsicles and their freezers were mounting. >> pg&e did not respond directly but said it has made prudent improvements like public

destinations around the bay like napa, keep in mind it will be hot there on saturday with upper 80s expected on sunday. san francisco, we keep the natural conditioning, so we make it to about 70 degrees on saturday. it will be in the mid 80s as well as the end of the weekend, that is a look at south lake tahoe, just want to give a heads up there will be coming in from the washburn fire and if you see and smell a lot of smoke, you may want to head in doors. our temperatures will reach upper 80s throughout the weekend and santa cruz will see highs in the upper 70s tomorrow. 75 degrees on saturday and a little cooler on sunday. it's going to be hot, paso robles reaching near 100 degrees, a lot of sunshine but low temperatures drop down to about 60 degrees. mike, you were looking forward to a ballgame today.

whenever they open a new location, people count out. >> is there sauce like chick- fil-a is? it's not as sweet but it's pretty good. heading into the weekend with our usual july weather pattern but i wanted to show you something we are also getting used to in july, extremely dry conditions with the drought monitor update. take a look at the comparison where we show the dark red, the exceptional drought and south of the bay area. but then this morning, they added one more percent of california into the exceptional drought but you can see it basically makes a circle in critical farmland and a lot of where we have agriculture in california. as we take a closer look, no change here. it typically does not change during the summer because we typically don't get rain during this month. as we go into the fall, as we continue, we say may may see

more changes. keep these at the top of mind is your thinking about going about your way this weekend and landscaping uses half of your waters usage. so a drip irrigation and a smart timer, it's good to make a weekend project, just put in grass that doesn't have to be watered at all. also, check faucets around the house, make sure there are no drips or leaks and check into the rebates because you may also get those to replace your landscaping. it will be a warm weekend, here's a look at high temperatures, upper 80s and low 90s but as you go toward parts of the interbay and the coast, this pattern continues but saturday will be warmer for pretty much all of the bay area, 90s in fairfield, but compare that to half moon bay.

chris sanchez joins us from one of the testing options out there. >> reporter: quest diagnostics says they will ramp up their testing for monkeypox, they expect to process 60,000 tests per week by the end of this month, lab workers will swab patients and send samples down to the lab in l.a. here's where things stand, 186 probable cases of monkeypox and well it's not as transmissible as covid-19, it is spread through intimate contact, like sex or taking care of someone with active lesions. a lot of people shut up for a free vaccine clinic, hosted by steve marx baths. tempers got a little hot because the private bathhouse got 500 doses, which they were supposed to distribute to members and nonmembers alike
