san francisco in the 60s. if we go to 3:00, we are still in the 80s in livermore but tracy is at 93. san francisco in the low 70s. and as i fast-forward the timeline to give you a sneak peek of the weekend as high pressure builds, i talked about it getting hotter. look at 5:00. tracy nearing the triple digits. mid to upper 80s in san jose. morgan hill in the 90s and 90s the inland areas. i'll take you through the timing and what to expect in a few minutes. this morning there is slight relief for those trying to make it in the bay. the average price of gas in california dropping below six dollars a gallon. bob redell joins us from dublin. prices are continuing to fall. >> reporter: and one analyst believes they will continue to fall. as you can see behind me, we are finally allowed six dollars

for a gallon of gas for the lowest octane. barely, but still there. look at the overnight numbers from aaa. san jose and oakland are both averaging around $5.96 for a gallon. san francisco is right at six dollars. look at the second number to the right. that is the price from a month ago and you can see in the past 30 days gas has dropped $0.50 to $0.60 per gallon. a petroleum analyst with gasbuddy.com predicts gas could fall another $0.55 to $0.85 in the weeks ahead. these high prices are one reason why inflation has skyrocketed in the united states , 9.1% compared to a year ago. that's the highest in 40 years. >> on this next inflation report in august we will see that reflection. as far as gas prices, what are

they saying is behind the drop? >> reporter: part of the reason for the drop in prices is the price of oil is down over fears of the global economic slowdown. so if there is a slowdown, fewer people are buying and selling. fewer goods need to be transported and you will have lower demand for oil which will lead to lower prices. also oil production has improved worldwide which has led to a greater supply and pushed down the price of a barrel. >> tough economic times ahead but at least we have lower gas prices. coming up en today in the bay, we will track cheap gas prices at 5:38. president biden is in the middle east but that's not the only focus as gas.

let's see if i can take you through saturday and sunday as we look ahead toward this high pressure that's been dominating the past couple of days. it will only get stronger into saturday. current temperatures in the 50s and we do have those king tides. we all week. expect to see this coastal flood advisory for highlighted areas and effect starting at 11:00 tonight until 4:00 in the morning. the greatest potential is in the evening and overnight hours for the immediate coast and bayfront. beckoning impacts to coastal trails, rhodes, and localized flooding. we have been monitoring the air quality concerns because we have several active fires burning nearby. according to bay area air quality management district there is an air-quality advisement because of wildfire smoke drifting into the area in contra costa. right now the air quality is good from the north be to the south bay. but when we see a change in wind direction, be on the lookout.

no spare the air alert for today. forecasted highs this afternoon are in the mid to upper 80s. morgan hill, 89. there san jose, 83. some of the warmest spots are in the interior. antioch, 91 if you're in san francisco it will be breezy again. we do have an early morning fog that will clear out in the afternoon making way for lots of sunshine. especially through the northbay pick santa rosa, 89. now let's talk about that fire danger. this high pressure continues to dominate the next couple of days. it's going to keep us really dry and it will warm us up. that combination can easily start or spread of fire. anytime we look at this humidity , it falls below 40% and that's when concern rises. if you look at concord,

fairfield or livermore, we are pretty dry. we tend to see recovery overnight come up but even then there so much dry brush because we haven't seen significant main and all of that works as fuel. in san francisco on saturday and sunday we bump into the 70s. we will continue to see sunshine into monday through wednesday and then look at inland temperatures. today in the upper 80s. tomorrow in the mid to upper 90s. maybe even triple digits in tracy and the 90s linger by the next sunday and monday and then we pull off into the upper 80s by tuesday. definitely a hot weekend. now let's get a check of the roads. we are looking at the roads. the speed limit all over the bay. great flow of traffic. the only thing below the speed limit is the ultimate. vasco road is great under 20 minutes from marsh creek to 580.

votes in washington intended to restore and protect abortion access nationwide. >> kris sanchez joins us live with why this could be entirely symbolic. >> you've talked about this for some time. symbolic because the bills are there but the votes are not come particularly in the senate which is now 50/50 democrats versus republicans. let's talk about the bills on the table. the first bill to protect abortion access would prohibit punishing anyone who travels out of their own state to seek an abortion and windshield doctors who provide reproductive care outside their state if their state for bids abortion. the other bill would codify or put into federal law the right to abortion access that was originally protected by roe v. wade and for bid bands on abortions before 24 weeks which is when it's believed adidas can survive outside the mother. a lot of the debate centered on the case of a 10-year-old girl who was pregnant only because she was raped by a 27-year-old

>> all lanes of traffic on highway 9 are back open after a man was killed after driving over a cliff around 10:00 last night near heather heights road. chp said a man was heading eastbound near saratoga when he lost control of the car on the turn. the car went over the side of the road some 80 feet down an embankment and he died at the scene. chp is expected to release more information later today. police in san francisco are cracking down on retail theft. officers took part in one of the largest seizures of stolen goods found in a home following a months long investigation. police arrested sergio manuel puga-tenorio pippa lee say he stole and sold stolen items like over-the-counter medication and personal care products online equaling nearly $200,000. >> our investigators believe these stolen items were being sold in a different market and this arrest confirms that the online marketplaces were or are

being used to sell stolen goods. >> investigators estimate that his operation was yielding over half $1 million annually for at least the last three years. foster city will be rocking out tonight. >> the annual summer concert series is back. tonight the band pop fiction will play as classic hits spanning several decades. this is the first of six concert held at the o'ryan park amphitheater. the concert started 6:00 and will be held every friday until august 19th we spoke with the director of parks and rec about the return of the events following the pandemic pause. >> it's nice to see people back and smiling and having a great time, connecting with one another. so i'm hoping for good things and good things for the community. >> last summer foster city offered a modified version of the annual tradition.

any outdoor activity, you want to do it early. like a hike or anything like that. watch out for your pets into the afternoon because we bump up into the 80s by 1:00. take them out early or later in the evening when it cools off. by sunday we get a little relief but even then we stay in the 90s. this will set us up for a week of hot temperatures and dry conditions. we will take a look at how this will impact our fire conditions into the weekend coming up. now let's check in with mike and gas prices. >> we are trying to find the cheapest gas prices. we have found gas under five dollars. that's number one in richmond. check out the united oil on 23rd street. $4.99 a gallon. backup above five dollars in most points like $5.29 at national on washington avenue on san leandro and on brenham

refugees from the eastern part, they come here and they need help. so we decided to help and be a partner in this big project. so, it will be finished in october. >> this is something people can go into our call into and get the help that they need. i know the situation is very traumatizing there. >> yeah. of course. that will be open for everybody but mostly come of course come up with these soldiers, our troops, that were injured, and of course families, relatives that lost their friends or families. so, it will be open for everyone and we hope that we can help people with therapy with therapy sessions pick and we hope that even this year. we will have more than 20,000 therapy sessions there. and in the next year it will be more than 40,000 recessions. >> just answer making a

contribution to make this happen. are the things people can do in the bay area to help those in ukraine being impacted? >> of course there is also many options to help ukraine right now. we need donations. we need kind words. we need spreading information around on social media because there is so much fake news right now. even today when we have this terrible missile attack. so many children and women are dead. and of course more than 40 people right now are not found even so it's a terrible day today. so all the spreading of the truth about what's going on in ukraine will be a big help from the bay area people. >> and it's got to be difficult for you to absorb. i can imagine you thought you would live through a war in

headaches that plague summer travel. flights are being delayed or canceled during some of the busiest times. this week tim delta flew a plane from london to detroit without passengers. instead the plane was full of stranded bags. they were reunited with travelers who had to rebook their flights earlier that day. aaron mclaughlin is at lax with ways you can avoid some of these trust trading situations. >> reporter: demand for summer air travel showing no signs of slowing down despite thousands of cancellations and delays. airlines say they are struggling with staffing issues while some airlines have managed to get their staffing up to pre-pandemic levels. there still in the process of training and the staffing issues experts say are at the route of a lot of these issues. there are some things you can do to help the situation. for example, try flying early in the morning or mid week to

closer to saturday afternoon. that is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend. and over all, after the fog clears out of the bay and the coastline come expect similar conditions. out the door this morning with temperatures are comfortable. you don't need a heavy jacket and you won't need one into the afternoon. look at these daytime highs. concord, 89. morgan hill, 89. oakland in the 70s. san francisco, upper 60s. and we are monitoring wind gusts and humidity. anytime we see high temperatures, there is a fire concerns. we will be breezy around san francisco. 23 miles per hour. we look at the fire danger index. many think about the humidity come anything above 40% is okay but when it starts to fall below that come in which we see this afternoon when we get those dry conditions, there is an elevated fire concern and with the active wildfires burning nearby, for example the

washburn fire in yosemite and still very act of, the conditions over the next couple of days are looking even warmer into the 90s the wind is calm but with that dry brush, we can only hope for better containment. we are looking at green sensors for the most part. highway 37, early slowing there and typically starts around merritt island. holding steady just below the limit on westbound 580 but by northland everything is fine into livermore. a smooth drive around the rest of the bay. a little bit of san jose slowing . we do have a note from chp saying high wind overnight on the san mateo bridge but it's calm right now. oakland city councilmembers allocating $20 million to its department of violence prevention. the money aimed at helping curb violent crime in the city which

welcome back to today in the bay the supermarket in buffalo, you're, for 10 people were killed in the racist mass shooting and maple reopen this morning. store officials say they will reopen quietly and respectfully and it will hold a moment of silence and prayer for victims and employees. they were all impacted by that shooting. since the shooting the store has been closed and was fully remodeled. investigators say at the shooter targeted the supermarket specifically because it is in a predominantly black neighborhood. former president trump said he has made up his mind about running for reelection but won't reveal what the decision

is that the washington post quotes unnamed advisers to save the decision is yes. the bigger question is whether he will announce before the midterm elections in november. the adviser say president trump is eyeing september to get a jump on potential rivals like florida governor ron desantis. governor gavin newsom is sparking more talk about a potential run in 2024. he wrapped up a national blitz against republicans including a stop at the white house to accept an award. it follows this at the governor ran last week in florida in it newsom specifically pits california's policies against florida's and calls out florida's governor ron desantis. so is it newsom getting ready for a presidential run? we spoke to a washington post reporter at the white house. >> people i talked to did not think he would challenge president biden and biden said he plans to run for reelection and it newsom while in d.c.
