good morning one. i'm scott mcgrew. marcus washington has the day off. >> i'm laura garcia. halfway through the work week! wednesday morning. we'll check the morning commute for you in a bit. let's check in with the warming temperatures first? >> yeah. slightly warmer for most of the in and areas today. a look at the live view in san jose, starting out with a cooling cloud with the temperatures driving up quickly in the morning. right now, 59 degrees. we'll see those temperatures holding steady for the next couple of hours. that's before it starts to warm up around 7:00 273 at 11:00. essentially, making it up to 80 degrees, 95 in the livermore and 96 in concord. that's compared to the 64 we'll see, once again, in san francisco. mike, you have been checking in on the crash? yeah, we've been looking at a major part of the commute very, very light right now. the commute is starting out a password we do have a crash. west 580 and just learned that

everybody should be off to the shoulder. overnight construction. where you would expect a little bit of slowing, that crew has cleared. fire, also clear from 580. yesterday, you might have heard, for a short time on 580, blocked for fire activity. it's also clear, into livermore with things slowing down. back to you. >> well, mike, more people can get the monkeypox vaccine in santa clara county. this comes as cases across the bay area alrighty. up until now, the county could only offer the monkeypox vaccine to people exposed, because there was a short supply. now, with nearly 800 new doses coming, the county will offer them to anybody considered high risk, especially a community. santa clara county has come from 23 cases. now, still ♪ word on any walk- up the next. happening today, san francisco general will reopen its drop-in monkeypox clinic that runs from 8:00 until noon

this morning. last week, there were long lines. again, the drop-in clinic with appointments strongly recommended. that's because limited vaccines. following the 2020 murder of george floyd in the nationwide racial justice protests that followed, many cities were forced to address historical injustices. two years later, south heights sent san francisco lost what they call, ordinary people. these residents are addressing problems like the housing crisis and the city's response to mental health emergencies. i spoke with south san francisco mayor marc mango is about how the commission will move this community forward. >> it's been two years in the making, in terms of this commission. we just had our second meeting yesterday, and it's been a fantastic group of residents who really care about providing equity in our city, making sure that our city is just, and the conversations have been nothing but eye-opening and important. i think probably one of the

most important things i have learned about this whole process is that we have to have uncomfortable conversations, but we have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. >> exactly. >> sometimes, talk about public safety. >> so, a couple of meetings under your belt so far. you're discussing a lot of issues. do you hope to have action on some of these things, and really, what's coming out of it so far? >> yeah. i think the whole idea is an opportunity for our residents to have an open and frank and direct conversation to go to this commission and talk about their experiences, in terms of public safety, and to have this commission come back and come up with policy ideas for the city council to make sure that we are a more equitable city. one of the things that we have learned about in this whole process is that we want to make sure that we provide mental health services to those who are having mental health crisis he's, and that we have been able to tackle that issue in

grass and geese. some say, the birds is what they leave behind, a major problem of the last three years . >> a little one, he's almost going to be 2 years old, and he picks up their sometimes and almost put it in his mouth. i had to stop him. >> you can walk around without stepping in a her >> reporter: the city says, it's a public health risk with the daunting sidewalks and waterfronts with an increase in the level of e. coli in the city's what a waste. the city says, the keys population has doubled in the past two years, and humane methods to get rid of them haven't worked. so, monday, the city council voted to move forward with a plan to get permits so, if they need to, they can kill up to 1/3 of the keys population, or about 100 birds. >> if there was another way to do it, that would be great, but it doesn't seem like -- the other solutions haven't been working so far. >> reporter: residence in the city say, this is part of the problem. there are keys taking over part of the park with everywhere.

advocates say, if you get rid of them, more will still come back. the issue has been met with protests from animal advocates. they propose other options, like installing fences to move waterways and grassy areas, even in plummeting laser systems to shoo the birds away. >> the methods they test, they do them right or well. >> i was devastated to hear the news. >> reporter: geese lovers around the country are keeping an eye on the issue. the animal protection league of new jersey announced its offering to pay for a non- lethal boost removal program for foster city. anything to stop the killing. >> 15,000 people send in letters to the foster city council and encouraged them to try nonlethal means. this is what they're doing, going against public opinion. >> reporter: we reached out to the city to find out when the geese might be removed and are still waiting to hear back.

from cnbc, set to open higher with wall street with the gains from yesterday's big rally. the dow, jumping more than 750 points, or 2.4 her son, while the s&p 500 gained 2.75%, and the nasdaq rose more than 3%. this was sparked in part by investors finding a bottom that will be driven by strong corporate earnings. focus today, more on earnings for tesla and united airlines. netflix, planning to launch a cheaper option next year, as it looks to stem the losses of customers to competition. executives say, it won't include the content you can currently watch on the service. netflix says, it's still in talks with several studios to relight content for the ad- supported tier. google glass's are back. the company was test a prototype

heading for the coast, find some cooler weather. a heads up, we still have the beach affect with sneaker waves that come up higher on the beach and watch everything away. also, strong rip currents for people who do get out in the water and go swimming. now, take a look at walnut creek.we start out at 8:00 with partly cloudy skies, lo low 90s seven-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen with more days like this. ranging from the mid 60s ono, w reaching 73 degrees. 90 in martinez and 95 degrees in livermore today. also, tomorrow, basically much more of the same. anywhere from low 60s to mid 90s for much of the bay area, as you work your way from west to east. cooler inland temperatures by friday. but it's still going to be hot across the region. we've been talking about all of

the records, with phoenix reaching 110 degrees today. look at boise and 98 for a high today. some low 90s for sioux city. as we look at our 10-day forecast for antioch, it's going to continue to reach the 90s. are temperatures only go up and down slightly above normal with temperatures continuing for us in the next seven days with inland valleys reaching into the mid 90s today. it does come down to the upper 80s by early next week. that's not much of a change, but at least we do have some cool weather near the coastline, and the fog rolls in each morning. now, you are tracking an alert, mike? yeah, carrie. around the bay, the alert is a steady crash in the north bay. so, no major injuries. blocking one of two lanes, probably why we have issues in the first place. 50% of the lanes for eastbound 780 are blocked with this car mostly off the road. we have a crew about to get there. not a major commute route, but

ago, the state weather agency here in the united kingdom put out this addiction forecast, where they said, in 2050, temperatures were going to hit 40 degrees celsius, which is 104 degrees, and that prediction came true less than three decades later. >> experts are now warning that those heat waves are going to become more frequent, longer- lasting, and it's going to get a lot hotter. this morning, we're getting an excessive look at how one airline is hoping to solve the pilot shortage. we already know this already, if you fly on a regional jet, the plane may be painted with an airline's colors but is actually operated with a separate company, oftentimes called republic airways. united says, the pilot academy is so good, the grants can fly sooner than other pilots. nbc news' time the seller was in the indianapolis

this is the flynn fire that broke out late last night near the altima pass with 80% containment and 120 acres. the fire caused part of 580 in livermore to be closed at 1 won. traffic has since reopened. our scavenger overcast with a car on fire in the area, where the fire started, and officials aren't yet talking about it as far as the cause. let's check with carrie and mike with a look at weather and traffic. it's going to be another hot day if you're fighting fires or running errands. yeah. but at least we have the morning hours with unity high. we have lighter winds, and also, the temperatures are a lot cooler. so, we're now seeing some of those lift around the area of livermore at about 11 miles per hour. still a little bit of a breeze there. can kick up some of those flames. hopefully, that containment continues to grow, because it will be another windy day. you can see the winds coming in from the west at about 25 miles per hour. that's 4:00 this afternoon. then, starting to calm down once again togh
