"early today" starts right now i'm phillip mena >> i'm frances rivera. the january 6 committee wrapped up up its hearing with prime time bombshells the committee gave a minute by minute account of the attack on the capitol and the actions taken and not taken by the former president chris pollone joins us, good morning. what did we learn in these latest hearings? >> reporter: some of the most chilling testimony came from a white house security official whose identity was obscured. this person described calls from the secret service detail protecting former vice president mike pence the agents feared for their

lives. >> members were starting to fear for their own lives. there were calls to say good-bye to family members, so on and so forth. for whatever the reason was on the ground, they thought this was about to get very ugly >> reporter: the primary focus of the hearing was a minute by minute account of former president trump's conduct as the violence escalated at the capitol. they used testimony from former white house officials to describe the president doing nothing, watching the attack unfold for 187 minutes >> he's the commander in chief you got an assault going on, on the capitol of the united states of america nothing. no call? nothing? zero >> i think i was clear, there needed to be an immediate and forceful response, statement, public statement, that people need to leave the capitol now.

new this morning, sports legend bo jackson says he felt compelled to help the families of the shooting victims in uvalde, texas. jackson says he was one of the previously anonymous donors who helped pay for the funerals for those killed at robb elementary school he and a close friend flew to uvalde after the shooting and donated $170,000 for funeral expenses he said it's just not right for parents to have to bury their kids police are investigating a blast that rocked a neighborhood in a dallas neighborhood a ring camera captured the explosion. you can see debris flying everywhere the damage was mostly contained near the garage. no one was at home at the time and no injuries reported investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of that explosion. the house has passed legislation to protect access to
