here we go on monday morning, taking a live look, it is dark and early in san francisco. hey, your appreciation day was last week. >> we appreciate carl every day. he did say that summer is all mine. we noticed carl and summer in san francisco is hand-in-hand. we do have the weather to get to but i have a bit of breaking news but this is actually in mexico but a couple of miles off of san diego. we are getting preliminary reports of a 4.5 earthquake, about 20 kilometers west of
4:49 am
ensenada mexico. again this is a preliminary for .5. i've been looking on twitter and it looks like full are reporting what appears like a jolt near san diego. so far right now we have not seen any tsunami threats or any warnings for possible tsunamis near the coast of san diego. just to give you an idea as far as location goes, if you look at the perspective, san diego, tijuana and 20 kilometers of ensenada south, upper limit of 4.5. as of now i have been checking on twitter and it looks like folks of felt a jolt, but we will give you a heads up about any potential damage or anything like that. now, we will keep a close eye on that, but first we have been talking about the fog in our air quality which will be today's main event as we take a look at current temperatures out the door with temperatures in the 50s to start, san jose is 56, and we do have a couple of low 60s.
4:50 am
let's talk about the air- quality advisory. we have the fire burning in yosemite and i want to give you a perspective of what you might see today into the afternoon. what you are seeing here is the visible smoke and haze aloft, which means high above. notice we do start to see this moving, especially into the bay area. and that will give the sky the orange glow and hazy appearance. down below is the near surface smoke him and this is the smoke that you will breathe and you will smell. thankfully, a lot of that smoke is staying primarily aloft, so high above. the impact of that smoke may come down and linger into ukiah, and into parts of south lake tahoe, so if you traveling to south lake tahoe, the impact that the surface will be much greater than hear the bay area. the oak fire in mariposa county upper air smoke will continue to move west, with a return of hazy skies is to be mindful of
4:51 am
that. let's check how the roads are doing with mike. >> very calm on the roadways, no major issues or slowing, and the closure for niles canyon cleared up about one day earlier than we expected but no worries about that. over here we do still have this long-term closure for the right lane, eastbound 80, getting away from the bay bridge over the gilman crossing, and the damage last week on wednesday evening i believe, that will result in the right lane still being closed until they can fix that and possibly maybe closer to the end of september says caltrans would allow a lot of time because the bridges to open and they have to work on it when they can during working hours. we will possibly see slowing as we have seen the last few days, early afternoon and late morning on eastbound 80, but right now no slowing for the issuer freeway. back to you. thank you, not what you want to see in the summer, a new set of shark sightings could not come for worst time for people to try to escape it along the east coast did this
