morning's second quarter gdp report, while others are forecasting another decline. if it is the latter, it would mean back to back quarters of negative growth, which has historically signaled a recession. but the strong labor market could prevent an official declaration. on monday, president biden told reporters flat out we're not going to be in a recession but a senior administration official told nbc news that the concern is the fear of one would be a self-fulfilling prophecy causing consumers to pull back the biggest issue is the stubborn inflation the fed hiked rates another 75 basis points >> we're not trying to have a recession, and we don't think we have to. we think that there's a path for us to be able to bring inflation down while sustaining a strong labor market as i mentioned, along with in all likely hood some softening in labor market conditions
