we are waking up to another foggy morning. taking a live look at san francisco, it is not bad. look at this fog. it is definitely impressive this morning. we will look at what we can expect today . meteorologist rob mayeda is here with a look at what we can expect. >> we see the clouds in san jose and it is 59 degrees. the wildfire smoke advisory has been extended into your thursday . especially around the north and east bay hills. we have numbers close to the upper 70s in san jose in the mid-80s in the tri-valley. temperature-wise , not much changes into the weekend with the valley temperatures in the mid-80s. numbers do not change much and wholly the gas prices continue to go down, mike. >> we are tracking some lower options and today we found all

loans do not vary with interest rates. the good news is when we look at the household sector today, the household debt burden as a percentage of take-home pay is sitting at a 20 year low , according to the federal reserve and the service payment burden is basically very close to an all time low. this is been tracked by the federal reserve since 1980. the current reading on that number the consumers are obligated to pay is at its fourth lowest rate in history. generally speaking, consumers are in good shape, despite inflation. wages are rising. just generally speaking, average consumers have more flexibility than they have had going into

>> reporter: it was two weeks ago we were talking about the mask mandate on b.a.r.t. expiry . if the b.a.r.t. board of directors brings them back , it will be several more months. this would go into effect starting tomorrow. it would last until october 1. this would apply to all trains and stations and any other paid areas as well. when they meant it expired, masks were still recommended and many kept them on. this is what some commuters told us. >> i am all for it. i travel a lot. it is important for me to keep a mask on. >> i think we need it back. it is definitely needed. especially when i see it kind of spiking a little bit.

francisco jazz club is faulting the city police department and fire department for making a bad situation even worse this week. surveillance video shows thieves break-in in tuesday morning. he said police and fire responded but only taped a plastic shade over a broken window and left and then more thieves broken in. we reached out to the city for comment but have not heard back . supporters plan to rally for a bay area refugee facing deportation. phoeun you is being detained by i.c.e. agents. when he was 20 years old come he killed someone but while incarcerated he rehabilitated himself and supporters are asking governor newsom to issue a pardon. they plan to rally

for caltrain are in the bay area and a fleet has to do a lot of testing. many tests are needed before they are ready for service. i spoke one-on-one with dan lieberman from caltrain to find out even more about the project . >> it was outfitted with foam rubber padding to ensure the maximum clearance area was arranged. it will continue throughout august. after this the next test would be where the train is operating connect into the overhead system that will be running all of these through the accelerated braking and communications protocols until we are certain they are ready for service.
