and the question is will it be sunny, rob has the forecast. thank you for joining us i am chris gomorrah, sitting in for kira klapper. let's get right over to rob mayeda, what is it looking like in san francisco and will the fog burn off ? spent low clouds sticking around, july 30th to be one of the driest days of the year but still more drizzle in san francisco and low clouds in san jose. this part of the forecast we've seen throughout the week, not a big surprise as we have more drizzle to start up the weekend. what is different is the chance of showers. if you're in lynn this morning out of the fog you notice the mid-level clouds coming through. check out radar view. most is aloft for now but notice of the airflow pattern. this is the reason for the mega conditions around the bay area. this is monsoon moisture coming from the east, and that will bring us a chance of isolated showers today. 70s and 80s inland and cooler with a 60 san francisco, a

while thieves tried to steal his watch. yeah you heard them demanding the man's watch before taking off in a red car with tinted windows. daly city police said the 69-year-old man was robbed and pistol whipped on thursday on skyline drive around four 130 in the afternoon. law enforcement all over the bay area have seen this kind of thing and warning of similar robberies with criminals looking for gaer in sacramento to pay tribute to firefighters who have died over the past three years. this year's memorial is the first to be held in person in three years. 82 men and women are being honored today, including 11 bay area firefighters. like san francisco fires jason cortez, you will see them in a minute on the left side of the screen. he died in an accident during a training accident in 2020, and

says the city has filed a lawsuit to force the owner to either clean it up, or tear it down. >> neighbors say this home in the san jose historic rose garden neighborhood has been an eyesore for two decades. but over the past several years, they say it is gotten even worse as it falls deeper into disrepair, is a home that has been vacant for at least 10 years since fire started at the home it to a five wabash street in june last year, neighbors say someone was squatting in the home. the fire officials never determine the cause. and neighbors with kids have become increasingly concerned. >> it is definitely scary to hear there are people who might be squatting there and is starting fires, you are doing things that could make the street unsafe for our daughter. >> another parent who lives across the street cannot forget when the nearby schools will put into lockdown after the say law enforcement confronted a person squatting in the home.

hospital . they are chanting, maia, maya. that is 10-year-old maia zamora and she is walking out of the hospital, this was yesterday. she was critically injured in the robb elementary school shooting one month ago and her family said it is a miracle she survived. she is the final patient to be discharged. she passed out roses to people who cared for her. the doctors and the nurses are calling her their hero. u.s. house meanwhile passed a bill that would ban assault weapons for the first time since 2004. a large cheer erupted on the floor when speaker pelosi announced the bills passage and it passed largely along partisan lines. two republicans voted for the bill, while five democrats opposed it. the law would criminalize the sale, manufacture, sale and possession of many types of semi automatic weapons. however, it is unlikely to pass in the u.s. senate.

to set daily rainfall records. keep in mind, don't have to get a trace to about that much rain to do that at this time of year. the drizzle is adding up. for the morning along the coast, the drizzle continues at times and eventually the low clouds lifting. look at temperatures during the day, staying cool in san francisco, low to mid 60s and upper 60s cultured oakland, san jose looking nice at 77. low 80s inland, but let's not bury the headline. right there, isolated showers forecast and look at the monsoon moisture, this area and green coming back from the east and over the bay area. that is enough that there radar is picking up at least higher in the atmosphere a few showers out towards the hills of napa county. initially what the radar will see is mostly rain aloft. as more moisture increases into sunday we will see better odds of it reaching the ground but notice how the clouds are coming in out of the east and southeast and into monday. right there for the monday morning commute. you may see a better chance of

showers out of the weekend. today partly cloudy skies, and if you look closely more clouds coming in on sunday morning and the chance of isolated showers on the inland hilltops good things look better for shower chances, it might be a slight chance of thunder as well, you have to watch it early monday morning. at 7:00 a.m. ecl it passes through the bay area and perhaps a few more showers going into monday afternoon. all of this adding up to measurable rainfall potential, especially sunday into monday here in what is typically the driest time of the year and unusual seven-day forecast. today you will notice the more muggy conditions at times, temperatures in the 60s around san francisco. or the valleys temperatures will stay mild but it will be muggy at times come all the way through monday, skies will clear and temperatures climb up as we pass the middle part of the week. interesting weather, you don't often watch the radar from july into august around here, but we have that going in the forecast this weekend.

late afternoon and low 80s into the tri-valley's, the sea breeze keeping temperatures comfortable, mid-80s around morgan hill and a 70s toward the north bay. look at the afternoon forecast good chance of isolated showers, we talked mid-level clouds from the east. this is a monsoon moeast but jo by monday with remnant moisture from a tropical storm up the coast of baja california. so the two are converging over the bay area bringing that humidity boost, and a chance of seeing a few showers. we see precisely that this morning around areas of the north bay hilltops the amount of this is higher in the atmosphere, evaporating before it has a chance to reach the ground and is that mr. moistens up into sunday, more of what we are seeing on radar will likely reach the ground but notice the direction where it is coming from and we're used to the wedding system going west to east, that will come up out of the south as we go into sunday. this afternoon partly cloudy skies and more clouds into sunday, a better chance of seeing a few showers around the

diablo mountain range and thinks up into monday morning, notice how the futurecast shows the potential for stronger showers, which may include slight chance of thunder so we will be in and out of the clouds, a slight chance of a few scattered showers, and watch what happens monday. on the coast, we will watch these areas from about 7 a.m. until midafternoon, as you get heating of the day and we moisture which increases instability and then by 5:00 we look at climatology, what we should expect to see this time of year, it's one of the drier times of year. instead the seven-day forecast looks to get showers going all the way through monday, possibly early tuesday, depends on how quickly those tropical clouds move out temperature- wise staying comfortable around san francisco. and in locations temperature- wise looking good. you notice this weekend the increase in unity and a sunday
