the rest of the day is nice and sunny. high temperatures oakland will reach up to 82 degrees today. drive to martinez and 94. over toward fairfield 99. see how the temperatures change making the way across the bay area. half moon bay reaches the low 70s. less fog this afternoon but the valleys will be hotter. we'll talk about the changes ahead. mike? >> hunting for anything not there on the chp report but saw flashing lights. another set south to the 286/80 interchange. i believe just past the view of the camera cut off. that's where you see brake tapping southbound 101 just past 680 to story road. might be on the shoulder but a distraction. over here this is the other slower drive in the tri-valley.

the earlier crash cleared coming counter to the commute. i think still crews on the shoulders with lights. meanwhile this crash on highway 13 no problem. no injuries. both directions on the warren freeway itself. back to you. >> thank you. developing this morning what appears to be a sad ending in the search for a teenage girl missing. divers pulled a car from the water of a lake steps from where kiely rodni last seen alive. authorities plan to hold a news conference this morning but friends and family are preparing for the worst. >> kris sanchez is live in the studio with where the investigation stand. >> divers found the small suv like the one that rodni drove

and the sheriff's department is trying to confirm whether it belonged to her. this is what volunteer divers posted on facebook over the weekend, they found a silver honda crv with the license plate that matched rod ni. adventures with purpose say that divers using sonar imaging technology finding vehicle in 14 feet of water 300 yards from the campground where she was last seen at a party with 100 teenagers on august 6. volunteer search was separate from the one launched by authorities that searched an 80-mile radius. after ten days that search was scaled back. >> for them to not be able to find her it is pretty, i don't know. it bothers me a little. >> we should learn more when the investigators hold a press

conference at 11:00 this morning. we'll follow that for you. laura? >> thank you. we have been following the story closely and have more information for you. for two weeks posting things at nbcbayarea.com. it is the top story on the home page and will also live stream the update scheduled to happen at 11:00 this morning. oakland police are investigating the deadly shooting of an elderly woman in little saigon. police so far are saying very little other than no arrests have been made. oakland council member issued a statement saying in part i am outraged and sickened over the senseless, brutal slaying of an elderly aapi woman in broad daylight this afternoon. she goes on to say we can and must do better. no one should presume they can come into oakland at any time and commit a violent crime without rewe cushions. uc berkeley police are investigating two violent attacks.

at people's park as a hate crime. it happened sunday morning. officers arrested a suspect. the other two are still at large. police say a second unconnected assault happened in that same area yesterday morning and that case the attacker used a baseball bat and all comes as parents bring the children back to campus. >> she stays here. goes to the classes from here. i want her to be safe. >> these are the latest of several recent incidents in the area of the park since halting construction of a new student housing facility. moving you forward on the fight against monkeypox, the white house rolling out a massive new vaccine distribution plan. brie jackson joins us from

washington with a timeline. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, laura. the white house monkeypox response team is rolling out a series of new actions to better address the outbreak beginning today. 1.8 million more vaccines will be available. the white house plans a pilot program to allocate 50,000 doses for cities hosting large events with gay and bisexual men. that group is especially hit hard by the outbreak. although it is important to highlight health leaders say anyone can be infected and the white house is making available 50,000 of tpoxx, used to treat monkeypox infections. on thursday cdc director dr. walensky said that officials are learning the effectiveness of the vaccine as the agency works to mitigate the spread and said there's certain steps to take to

boost the protection. >> although we anticipate vaccine wills provide protection reducing or avoiding behaviors that increase the risk is important. especially between your first and second doses of vaccine. >> reporter: the cdc said avoiding skin to skin contact with people, a rash that looks like monkeypox, avoiding objects used by people infected and washing hands often are ways to help keep you safe. this is a look at the current number of infections since the outbreak started confirmed in the bay area. san francisco currently tracking 668 cases. second largest anywhere in california and 2600 confirmed across the state. on friday california health officials confirmed they avoid using the term monkeypox and will refer to as impox.

moon bay to 82 in mountain view. 91 in morgan hill. and 99 in fair field. north bay mostly see low to mid-90s today but a hot start to the week. but then tomorrow we start to see progress. the cool ocean air making the way inland and dublin headed to 84 degrees and then the middle of the week a much more significant cool down especially taking a look at fairfield after starting the week at 99. how about 88 degrees? better but definitely cooler near the coastline with more fog. throughout the week we are not looking at much of a weather pattern. just an ocean breeze and not looking at any changes in the pressure systems that's going to cause a significant change. as we take a look at morgan hill, the forecast making plans

for the weekend looks like an amazing weekend ahead. a lot of inland temperatures into the 80s as we continue on with sunshine and that's about what we usually see the end of the august. san francisco with low to mid-70s for today and then 60s for the rest of the week. mike, you have been watching a couple issues. >> continued delays for the tri-valley. approaching the transition where the lanes go to north or southbound. that's where this disabled vehicle blocks one of two lanes. you may want to continue coming out of the pass and continue to the dublin interchange with mild slowing and i think 4 or 5 miles extra for that route but 84 had a couple issues by the paint

to approve a controversial plan to allow drug injection sites in san francisco and oakland. >> users could inject drugs at safe sites. ginger explains how that program would work. ginger? >> reporter: good morning. san francisco is one of the cities paying close attention to the governor's signature on this. the city and oakland are the two bay area cities part of the suggested pilot programs. a week and a half ago local leaders made a push for the governor to sign it into law but now it is the last day and waiting for his signature. the measure would allow for pilot programs in oakland, san francisco, and los angeles to allow for intravenous drug users to consume drugs under

supervision. similar programs are in other parts of the world. new york city has an unsanctioned version. in 2018 we traveled to vancouver. take a look at the video showing what it looks like from inside. back here at home supporters say these sites are a way to help keep people safe while they use drugs. last thursday we spoke with the mayor and here's what she had to say. >> i am still hopeful that he will sign it. it is consistent with his bold moral leadership to do things that are right in the face of criticism and controversy an ento try new things. we all agree that the status quo is wholly unacceptable. both with regard to the loss of life because of drug overdoses but the impact on the

neighborhoods. >> reporter: opponents including groups like mothers against drug deaths say the need for a solution lies in rehabilitation and recovery and not what they call addiction maintenance. here's the statement against sb 57. san francisco is putting a band aid on a gaping wound in not building out a fully functional recovery operated system of care in handling the drug and fentanyl epidemic. there is no safe way to use fentanyl and to suggest that is possible is just another step towards normalizing a deadly and progressive condition. they say staffing is a challenge in treatment and rehabilitation. they want more money and funding to go into there, that aspect instead of this safe consumption sites. if the governor sign it is bill the pilot programs run until

toll plaza. we see some sensors changing already north of here. happening today, fbi cyber security experts will try to get the word out about a new ransomware used by hackers called zeppelin. the agency said the attacks malware is growing with health care and medical industries said to be especially vulnerable. bay area house speaker nancy pelosi will join leaders for a discussion on hunger and food insecurity ahead of the upcoming white house conference on hunger, nutrition and health. it will take place in marin at 1:00 p.m. for you this morning the white house could announce major changes to the federal student loan as soon as this week. >> they run out of time, scott. >> absolutely. because the suspension of federal student loan payments set to end september 1.

so to remind you student loan payments were suspended by the trump administration because of covid and then again and again and then the biden administration suspended them even further. we have been expecting that president biden would announce at least a portion of those loans forgiven altogether. he made it a campaign promise but forgiveness or not they have run out of time. there's no guidance to private agencies that manage student loan payments. about a resumption about the payments on september 1. at bare minimum the white house has to announce another suspension. kick the can down the road. politically if they announce loan forgiveness it would make sense to do it closer to the midterms. here's the secretary of education on "meet the press." >> student debt to expire.

schools had a few weeks. they had a week or so to adjust to the morning commute. we are seeing the traffic flow earlier at the bay bridge. we saw this from about 5:30 highway 37 starting to slow and then starting to see a volume build to 121. more traffic and more slowing than the first half hour. highway 4 kicking in. there may be a shift of timing going on. can't tell from this section. a disabled on the chp grid heading towards 68. they had issues with slower drives. now looking at the south bay with the build starting to build. disabled vehicle should be clear 85 at 87. back to you. >> thank you so much. great news for roku users.
