removal appears to be finally over. this is "today in the bay" streaming live on roku, amazon fire, apple tv and, of course, online. good morning and thanks for joining me. i'm laura garcia. marcus is off this morning. we have team coverage on what everyone is talking about, the heat wave. kris sanchez is tracking the latest outages across the bay. let's start with a look at the forecast itself with meteorologist kari hall tracking what we can expect. another hot one ahead. >> yes, unfortunately. yesterday was pretty hot. today the temperatures go up a few more degrees. let's talk about what to expect as we're headed for triple-digit temperatures, over 110 once again, even hotter than yesterday. tomorrow will be the last day we'll see highs over 100 degrees. for the weekend, looking at tropical moisture coming in and possibly some storms. let's look at the highs with san francisco reaching into the 80s. we could be as hot as 111 today in santa rosa and up to 114 in

brentwood. san jose reaching 105. palo alto up to 100 degrees while oakland will reach into the mid 90s. all the dangerous heat continues and we're also going to continue to monitor for that potential of heat exhaustion, heat stroke. these are all real possibilities with several days on end of dealing with this hot weather. i'll send it back over to you, laura. >> thanks so much. 5:01 s. with the dangerous heat comes added stress on our power grid and threats of rolling blackouts. so far the rolling outages have been avoided. some neighborhoods are still enduring long periods in the dark. "today in the bay's" kris sanchez has a look at the big picture for us. >> this will now be day six of the extreme heat that's pushing power equipment to the limit. some families have spent the majority of that time without power. this is the pg&e outage map. as of this morning, most outages seem to have been concentrated

in the south bay. morgan hill has been hard hit along with parts of san jose. we'll update this map as we get more information from pg&e. pg&e says crews worked for hours on blown transformers. i saw crews on the expressway doing that. while they did that, families did what they could trying to keep cool, sitting on blankets, even bringing couches out from the house to be a little more comfortable. we met a mom of a 4-day-old baby who has been too fussy to sleep in the heat. the families have been spending a lot of time in their cars and a lot of money eating out. >> the kids have water and an ieft chess in the kitchen. right now we're throwing away or food or trying to go out to eat. >> there was one rolling blackout but it was a mistake, a miscommunication between the northern california power agency and cal iso. thousands of people were impacted in palo alto and alameda and healdsburg, they

queen elizabeth. doctors this morning issued a statement recommending she remain under medical supervision, but they're not saying exactly what the problem may be. the queen this year celebrated her 96th birthday. doctors do say she's resting comfortably at balmoral. we'll bring you updates as soon as we get them from across the pond. bay area house maker ro khanna and zoe lofgren will visit reid-hillview airport. they're calling for congressional hearings over led exposure in san jose. airborne pollution rates to higher lead levels for children living near the area. they ban leded fuel sales there raising faa concerns. since then, the agency approved the first everyone leded eve asian fuel. america's united nations ambassador arrives in san

francisco. linda thomas-greenfield will attend an event and plans to join oakland representative barbara lee for a discussion at manny's community space. teams in oakland are expected to begin clearing a large encampment in a matter of hours. some 300 people live in the wood stream camp under a stretch of interstate 880 where several recent fires have started. last month the governor's office sent oakland attorney a letter saying the city was dragging its feet on clearing out the camp. a judge recently approved clearing it out citing a new plan to shelter the residents. san francisco is the latest city to decriminalize some psychodelics. it calls on police to consider these psychodelics as the lowest priority. it also calls for decriminalization on the state and federal level. other cities have recently enacted similar measures

including oakland, santa cruz, denver and seattle. 5:05 on your thursday morning. although it feels like thursday afternoon. some of the temperatures already outside are way up in the bay area. this is a live look outside at san jose this morning. kari is tracking the heat wave across the bay area. >> it's going to be another hot day. usually we do have cooler temperatures in the morning to let the house cool down from the extreme heat. in some places we are seeing that, like santa rosa right now it is 59 degrees. it's also 81 in martinez it really depends on where you are. there is a wide range in temperatures, and we are seeing a lot more people taking advantage of public transit. so in pleasant hill as you're heading to work, maybe to the b.a.r.t. station, 60s to start, another spare-the-air alert day. temperatures reaching mid 90s by noon. as we compare where we're headed today versus the record, the daily high temperature record,

santa rosa is definitely going to smash this record. today's daily high is 100 degrees. we're expecting it to reach 111. in oakland it may match that high temperature record, go above that in livermore and definitely going above it in san jose. so another day of record setting temperatures. tomorrow we're back in the triple digits and we'll talk about the weekend coming up. mike, it's looking like it's really hot out there. hopefully your numbers are going down. >> always looking for deals. in sunnyvale, 4.73 at arco on sunnyvale saratoga road. at bon fair in vallejo, sacramento street the location for $4.79 a gallon. good range, good range of speeds as well as we look at the maps. overall i can draw your attention to the top of the map. we'll zoom into the eastshore freeway, the commute direction right now, early slowing from
