get into the weekend, what is phenomenal about what's happening today is those numbers surged back up again as expected but it's only 3:00. numbers are still warming and we have already set records with those temperatures continue to rise. right now are record in concord reaching so far, 106 and another record in livermore up to 111 in santa rosa a record 107 and tying so far in san jose at 100. a very warm day so far with 80s in downtown. what will happen is this area of high pressure will be fading over the next 24 to 36 hours, so this is the last day of those 110 degree plus temperatures. the forecast through tonight, we do have warm 80s and 90s at 8:00 through 11:00 p.m. starting off in the 70s tomorrow morning and instead of that 110 to 113, we will be at 105 tomorrow afternoon and 106.

so tomorrow is a little bit better but look at major cooling by this weekend, instead of triple digits we are back to the 80s and 90s inland and that cooler weather does have something to do with hurricane kay, we will talk about the very unusual weather pattern that will bring thunderstorms to california this weekend. this excessive heat causing sporadic power outages across the bay area for several days. take a look at the current outage map by pg&e, not too bad right now, but more outages are expected this evening, making it extremely miserable for residents. we go to a major substation in campbell with a look at the conditions and why the mayor of san jose says pg&e's response has been unacceptable. >> reporter: the substation provides electricity to much of the south bay, but a transformer here because of the heat wave was one of the many

that failed during this period of time, leaving thousands of people in the dark, so tonight, some of those customers, there's exhaustion, and blame. there has been a lot of this across the bay area this week, in fact, a pg&e worker report repairing a line is one of many heat exhaustion reports today. >> we are being reminded just how difficult it is to work in these conditions and we are reminding all of our coworkers to be safe out there to take rest breaks and make sure they stay cool and hydrated. >> reporter: the good news, kaiser permanente says it has not seen a jump in he related emergency visits, but they still asked residents to take precautions. some of the patient say they are fed up with the heat and all these flex alerts. >> the heat is so bad. i've lived in phoenix for 10 years and i didn't think i would experiences again. it is awful. >> i am so done and i run hot
3:13 pm
so it makes it even worse. >> reporter: the mayor of san jose says he is done, too. the mayor issued a news release blasting pg&e for what he says are infrastructure failures that left nearly 100,000 san jose residents in the dark this week, including three san jose hospitals. the mayor says if pg&e does not present the plan to immediately repair and replace its infrastructure, the city will seek a court injunction to force it to do so. >> we are having good conversations with the mayor, i value and respect him and i appreciate that he is advocating for my city that i was born and raised in. >> reporter: the utility says it already replaced 700 transformers across the city in the last couple of years and it, too, is frustrated with the outages. >> this is historic and unacceptable, we all rely on power and it is absolutely essential to our quality of life. >> reporter: the mayor says he is concerned about the safety of residents and the viability

of small businesses that have to shut down because of these outages. my phone says it's 103 degrees right now in campbell, but the good news is it only feels like 102. pg&e causes heat wave a heat storm and as of noon a clock noon today there were 824 customers without power and you can expect that number to go up in the next couple of hours. too many flies, the reason so many of them are buzzing around the east bay right now and why heat is only part of the problem. your power bill could soon get even more expensive, it has nothing to do with the heat wave. will break down we
