>> we're on a double date. >> awkward now. >> and we're going outside, too, especially if it's at lunch time because it's going to be really nice. we take a live look outside in san jose with some clouds floating by. we have seen a lot more cloud cover along the coastline and right now it is a calm wind and 59 degrees as we go throughout the morning, the clouds move in. the marine layer we see on our cooler days as our high heads for about 74 degrees in los gatos this afternoon and 78 in morgan hill. for the east bay 73 in walnut creek. hayward, 72 degrees. and we'll see some low 70s for much of the peninsula while san francisco stays in the 60s. our north bay highs top out at 75 in sonoma and, mike, you are seeing that commute just starting to wake up. >> starting to wake up. let's be gentle here. some may be hitting the snooze and that's why traffic is still light. the earlier crash looks like it should be clear from the

shoulder of westbound 24 oumt of the caldecott and to the maze, a smooth drive. a deer was hit. a warning we'll hear more reports of deer. be careful on the freeways in the early hours. we're in emeryville facing up university crossing. you can see the silhouette. there are low clouds and fog out there this morning. back to you. >> thanks, mike. new overnight for you, two people are in the hospital. this is after two apparent shootings in east oakland. according to police at the scene officers responded to two separate shootings along 92nd avenue with multiple victims, but the department was only confirmed to us two victims are now in the hospital. officers responded before 11:00 p.m. and that video from the scene shows one car shot out, and this is bullet holes near peach street. again, we're still awaiting more confirmation from police. and students will return to

class today at vallejo high school this is despite a shooting yesterday that injured a man. police were there responding to this. the man is a beloved football coach shot by the gunfire. >> this morning there are still a lot of questions that are unanswered. we go to ginger conejero saab who is following the developments. this is scary, ginger. >> reporter: absolutely. good morning, marcus and kris. you can hear just how scary it was in the video we are about to show you. we do have to warn you the video is disturbing. it's video posted on the blog vallejo crime and safety and shows just what happened yesterday. the shooting happened around 3:40 yesterday afternoon and police say there was an altercation involving students in front of the school on the street and a faculty member came out to break it up. shots were fired.

one of the bullets hit a staff member and the school was then immediately put on lockdown. they would not confirm the identity but staff and other people said it was joe pastrana known as coach joe. the vallejo police chief says he potentiall >> in terms of what went wrong, i'd have to challenge that. we responded very strongly for the safeguarding of our students. >> this was an act committed by people who do not value human life and it needs to stop. enough is enough. our children should feel safe when they come to school. >> reporter: vallejo unified saying there will be extra security on campus today as well as counselors to help the students and faculty process the shooting. the chief confirms there have been other shootings in the area. he's calling gun violence a public health crisis.

marcus and kris? >> i think a lot of people would agree. thank you, ginger. today the public will get a chance to pay their respects to queen elizabeth ii. this is what it looks like outside buckingham palace right now. this is where the procession of the queen's coffin will begin in an hour and king charms, prince william and other family members.les, prince william and other family members. >> this is where the queen will lie in state until the funeral on monday. thousands wait to pay their respects. our keir simmons with the "today" show joins us with what we can expect. >> reporter: good morning. we are right outside the great queen's body will lie in state. we're expecting her children he walk with her. her coffin carried on a carriage for a procession as the bells of big ben toll through the famous streets of london.

it will be a mournful day, a day of celebration as crowds lined the streets and prepare for the funeral that is expected to take place on monday after those four days where people get a chance to go in the hall and to see her. >> thank you, keir. the "today" show will have that live coverage as hundreds of thousands of people wait to pay their respects to the queen. coverage at 6:15 this morning with a special report. san francisco is reporting an increase in new hiv infections in nearly a decade. the city's annual hiv aids report says 160 people tested positive last year. that's a 16% increase from 2020. the first time that number has climbed since 2012. hiv testing dropped about 45% across san francisco during the first year of the pandemic. health leaders believe the pandemic caused major disruption and access to testing and

surface level you do have clear visibility as you drive out this morning. yeah, definitely cooler even compared to yesterday morning at this time with santa rosa waking up heading out to 50 degrees. it is now 59 in san hope say and 62 in hayward after this nice, cool start, walnut creek will start to see more clouds moving in and temperatures coming out of the 50s into the low 60s by 8:00 and you can see the warming
