that system come in in september because we don't typically get a storm system this time of month. we're starting out in the 50s and we have a couple low clouds around the peninsula and the coastline, and we are pretty clear. 9:00, 10:00, we climb into the 60s. if you are in through the interior, you will notice you will see clear conditions in san josé. we are going to bump up into the 70s, and we have 90s on the way and i'll tell you about that in a couple minutes. breaking news overnight while you were sleeping a new shooting in oakland, and the victim was shot and killed inside a van a little before 11:00 last night. this was at 51st avenue near international boulevard. and a new state was announced yesterday and welcomed by

oakland leaders focused on gun violence prevention. >> this new office will examine a broad range of factors like firearm availability to crisis prevention. >> at the end of the day, having the law enforcement from the bart, the housing authority, the sheriff, you name it, they are here on our streets, and we need to work together. >> over a 24-hour period ending tuesday afternoon, four people died from shootings in oakland. surveillance video showed a shooting on late monday. in that shooting two men died. jury selection continues today in the civil trial involving smith. a civil grand jury accused her of granting weapon permits to

campaign donators. smith is serving her seventh term of sheriff but not seeking re-election this fall. the fed once again raised lending rates, and that with is whammy, and today in the bay's ginger is with us, and that's good news, but will it help folks out. >> reporter: after the fed raised interest rates for the third time in a row, some are looking for much-needed longer relief. this week the fed raised inflation rates 75 point percentage rate, and that means car loans and mortgage rates and

student loans are expected to go up once again. if you are looking to buy a home anytime soon, you may want to look away. the average loan for a 30-year loan is 6.25%. the fed wants to make it more expensive to borrow in an effort to lower demand. >> we need to get rates up to where we are putting downward pressure on inflation, and that's what we are is on the way. we know you can expect inflation relief checks starting october 7th. that's the first day californians will receive the middle class tax refund. the big question, how do you get your hands on this money? you need to have filed a 2020 tax return by october of last year, and you can't be somebody's dependent, and you need to meet the requirements,

feeling no matter how much you make. everything is higher these days. >> so true. happening today, state fish and wildlife leaders try to get to the bottom line of an exploding problem, wild pigs that is creating headaches across california. the pigs are leaving their mark in the bay area as well, and this is video there of a pack roaming in morgan hill. this was last february, tearing up topsoil. state leaders are holding a virtual meeting to discuss that problem. lawmakers loosened the restrictions on hunting wild pigs which would limit the pig population, and governor newsom has not yet signed that into law. hurricane fiona, here's a live look at the radar. in the meantime, president biden now approved puerto rico's

a big rig crashed in florida yesterday, and -- look at that. beer. north of tampa, the clean up crews there in this case, yeah, they had to bite the bullet because these were silver bullets on the roadway, coors lite. thankfully, nobody suffered any serious injuries. >> think of all the weekend parties, oh, a shortage. here we go this morning. >> recycle those cans. >> you got it. let's talk about your weather, you we are having changes, and i want to do a summary of september storms. first let's start with a look at the satellite radar, because right now things are very quiet.

over the bay area things are looking good. we have systems mainly to the east, and for us we have high pressure that will begin to build and that will warm us up. let's take a look at what we saw the past couple of days. if you are wondering how long that system hung around, it hung around for five days. the northern coast saw two to three inches of rain. it's pretty normal for the coastal mountains to get the majority of rain, and we got thunderstorms and hail in the same day of record-breaking heat. it was crazy. and the monthly average we got about ten storms, and then valley totals was just over quarter of an inch to inch and a half, and so in the sierra we saw rain and a snow dusting, so

it was wild for sure. when it comes to the temperatures we are going to warm up, not into the triple digits but it will be pretty significant, especially through the weekend. san josé will remain pretty much in the 80s. the east bay, we also have upper 80s in through concord and antioch, 87. wind speeds light at about 10 miles per hour. san francisco will climb into the mid-70s likely, and then up through the north bay we are talking about santa rosa, 84, and your forecast gets warmer into saturday and sunday, but really it's the 90s that i think will throw people off because we had a storm system. let's check traffic with mike. looking over here, full speed ahead, maximum 65 on the freeways, and looking over towards the east bay where we have the build. a little extra slowing right
