they recently called the threat a bargaining tactic and insist a new agreement is within reach. it is 5:05 on your wednesday morning taking a live look outside. love the feeling of fall? well, you have to wait around for that. summer has decided to make a comeback today. kari is tracking our wednesday forecast for us. we have summer going on today, but the big story nationwide is the blast of cold air and how winter has arrived very early. i want to show you some of the current temperatures across the country where in sioux city, iowa, it is 18 degrees. it is very cold there. that is the coldest number i see on the map here. we do see a lot of cold temperatures even in oklahoma city they've dropped below freezing. many spots didn't see the fall colors. they went straight from summer to winter. it will get milder the next few days. as we take a look at what's been
5:07 am
going on this large area of high pressure that's been in control over parts of the west and then going into the next couple of days we are going to see that shifting going from high pressure to low pressure and that's going to give us a big change in our weather as well. we're dealing with a battle of the air masses that we start to see during the fall where we quickly transition from warm air to cool air. so i'll have more on that and what we can expect in our forecast coming up in a few minutes as well. we've also been seeing kind of a whiplash here. but looking at where we can find some lower gas prices, let's head over to mike. i have a caveat for you. $5.29. that's on north first street in san jose. $5.35 in oakland in the east bay. a little help with the prompter, it's shell in oakland. and the last number is $4.99.
5:08 am
that's costco on el camino. and the caveat is that you are going to find these prices right around $5, again, costco is the big bulk purchase leader for many things and that's what's going on for gas as well. safeway is doing pretty well as well. these are larger chains. as you look out to the roadways, a smooth flow of traffic. we will show you the overall bay. first of all, we start with this map, a smooth drive around the bay. we told you we would zoom in where the crash is reported. so it's just off the freeway, off 237. the on ramp might be affected by a smaller crash. we'll track that. so far the speeds are just fine coming off 880 and then moving over to san jose. and this popped up as well and now we're showing you the area sfo has all the runways on the right side and 101 north of 380 we're hearing about a fire on the side of the road. i believe it's an encampment. so far no disturbance as far as the freeway goes.
