morning. i'm marcus washington. >> kari will have a look at the forecast in just a moment. mike has been tracking this crash. >> everybody expects friday light. it is light except the problem in sunol. we don't have a lot of updates other than this will take quite some time. this is a jackknifed big rig. you see chp on scene. looking at some fluids on the roadway. this is the center divide. the truck must have been going that way but it hit, spun, front and rear axles were up on the center divide and the southbound side which is building distracted by all of this activity. we still have the closure 680.

folks are forced off into livermore. the traffic is getting lighter. that is one option for you. the other option is going up through town in isabel or completely avoiding north 680 and taking 880 through the area. pretty standard as far as the flow of traffic. we are at the limit approaching the dublin interchange. cooler temperatures as we take a look outside in san jose. 58 degrees right now. it's a cloudy start and is going to be clearing out. reaching 77 degrees, 80 in dublin and will feel like fall with the first wave of cool air coming in.

a few of us, take a look ahead to the weekend. 6:01. breaking news, firefighters in concord working to put out a fire at a strip mall. it started on willow pass road about four blocks west. so far no reports of injury. firefighters are working to keep it from spreading to nearby structures. a bizarre mystery unfolding in atherton. crews are digging up an entire vehicle buried in the backyard of a multimillion dollar mansion. >> landscapers hit it during a renovation project. kris sanchez is live. what are investigators saying about this? >> reporter: we don't know everything found inside the car but we do know it was a surprise

to the homeowners and that police were also surprised when they brought cadaver dogs in. sky ranger was over the home and property. atherton police say the homeowners called them when the landscapers discovered the car while digging in the backyard. the vehicle was buried four to five feet underground, police say there were bags of cement in the car and no visible human remains that were obvious to investigators. there was a scent pick up by cadaver dogs. >> cadaver dogs were called to the scene. the cadaver dogs made a slight notification of possible human remains. >> reporter: this property is assessed at $15 million according to the san mateo county tax assessor's record and appears the home was sold in march of 2020. the current owners are not under investigation but a former owner

now is. police say it appears the car was buried some time in the 1990s. in atherton, kris sanchez, "today in the bay." 6:03 this morning. parents and students are trying to get some answers to bay area's growing fentanyl crisis. last night people gathered to talk about the most recent impact on high schools. several teenagers have died in the past two years of those attendees received doses of narcan, that medication that is used to reverse opioid overdoses. the school superintendent explained why they gave that out. >> the more people that are trained to use narcan, we may save a life. >> fentanyl overdose deaths have grown a lot in that area.

new this morning a sobering new look at the impact of soaring inflation. moody analytics finds a typical u.s. household is spending $445 more per month and most experts agree prices will likely not retreat with interest rates expected to keep climbing. consumer prices up 8.2% year over year slightly down from the summer peak. one expert says the fed is trying to get that number down to 2%. >> it's a long way to go to get down to that 2% target and i believe the fed is going to raise rates and take that hawkish approach to raising rates until we start to see meaningful declines in those numbers. >> he says there are financial strategies you can take now in order to save on your retirement account.

>> the most important thing you want to do out of the cpi is focus on your income plan. what part of your income plan has some sort of inflation protection now if you're working or thinking about retirement. >> while it's hard to predict the rate of inflation he said the fed's efforts with demands increasing. pfizer gives its first hint of what it expects to charge for its covid vaccine. pfizer expects to charge about $110 to $130 per dose. the company tells analysts the vaccine will be made available with no co-pay to government paid plans like medicare. the government pays about $30 per dose to pfizer and its development partner. developing right now parts of the north bay may be subject to week power shutoffs due to

high wildfire risk. that's the word from pg&e which lists ten counties in its announcement. it's not yet clear how many customers in each county would be affected but napa and lake county are both on the list with the window from saturday to monday. these would be pg&e's first shutoffs of the year. a foggy start to the morning. the wind in those areas laura was talking about a concern. we do have that concern of public safety power shutoff and the outlook that shows these areas shaded in orange included in that psps as we may seeome outages there. you'll get alerts ahead of that most likely to your house phone or cell phone if you're signed up with pg&e. make sure you are signed up to get those alerts so you will know in advance.

this starts late with a cold front coming through. gusts may reach 60 miles an hour and top gusts 100 miles an hour, all of this coming as colder air arrives in the bay area. mid-80s inland. we'll be seeing temperatures in the 60s and 70s. we'll talk more about this coming up. mike has a look at where we can find lower gas prices. >> we do still have the major issue on the freeways. the lowest price for that county is at oracle. $5.04. alameda county, livermore central gas on south livermore avenue. that's $4.99. san francisco county, though, is pricier with $5.39 the best we could do at arco. one caveat, costco has the price beaters in all areas.

looking at the roadways, most are accessible except for northbound 680. you can get there but then you're stopped and forced off the freeway. you see it starting to jam up with the build out of the south bay. listen up, folks, heading up to the dublin interchange, can't take that direct route. 680 continues to be closed. 84 in through pleasanton. no major issues for the dublin interchange. the live shot we see that build for 580 is there. it's still at the speed limit. back to you. >> we know mike will keep an eye on the crashes out there. now let's check in with scott mcgrew. what are you working on? >> elon musk plans to make major cuts to twitter. cuts that would gut the company. out to the futures this morning, a positive move to the open.
