good morning. it is sunday, november 6th, 7:00 on the dot, as we take this gorgeous look at the sun rising from san bruno mountain on a sunday morning to remember. wow, that's a beautiful look, as we fell back an hour and now we get to enjoy the sunrise a little earlier. thank you so much for starting your sunday with us. i'm kira klapper. hopefully you enjoyed that extra hour of sleep. meteorologist vianey arana joins us this morning with a look at our microclimate forecast. and we both agree, we don't feel like we got more sleep. >> we don't! and i don't have an excuse!

i don't have any kids. i'm sure your boys were already up and running around. >> they were up at 5:00, but i was already gone. >> and binx is not going to understand the potty timing, either. that's my dog. let's talk about downtown san jose. you'll probably notice, we're not seeing any rain right now, that is. that will eventually move in, and that's going to bring some changes ahead. here's a look at what we're monitoring. we have this system just to our north. right now, a couple of clouds are starting to sweep through the region. current temperatures right now, we're starting out in the 30s in sonoma, napa in those low 40s. and here's the reason why. we have a good 24-hour temperature change up to napa. yesterday, we had that warmer air mass. today, we're setting up for the arrival of this cold front. that's going to sweep through with some gusty winds, rain, serena snow, and also, we're talking about an active start to the workweek. i'll take you through the timing of all of that coming up in a few minutes. keira? >> vianey, thanks. only on nbc bay area, we have new surveillance video showing

what happened seconds before a deadly crash on the peninsula. the crash killed a couple who leaves behind two daughters. redwood city police aren't yet saying what caused friday night's crash, but witnesses say they saw two cars racing down el camino real, at least one hitting that victim's car. "today in the bay's" alyssa goard spoke with a family member and witnesses who tell us they're concerned about speeding on this stretch of road. >> reporter: this dark car makes a left hand turn, we've frozen the video before the moment of impact, but you can see another car speeding down el camino and slam into it. the video came from alonzo forest' repair shop from across the street. he heard the crash and ran outside. >> two vehicles on the side of the sidewalk or right on the sidewalk, actually, one of the cars kind of like smoking. and as a mechanic, i know the car is about to catch on fire. >> reporter: two people died and

several others were hurt. this man, michael ayman tells us his brother greg amman and greg's wife was killed. their two 7-year-old daughters were also in the car, but they are expected to be okay. he says the family was driving home from dinner when another car hit theirs. >> going the other direction and pushed their car all way down the sidewalk a couple hundred feet. >> his two nieces now left without parents. >> as a parent, it's something you should never have to do, is tell children they no longer have parents. >> reporter: he says the girls are in the hospital with minor injuries and have been told about their parent's death. police say17-year-old driver of the other car and two passengers were also taken to the hospital. they are all expected to be okay. >> especially this area, where traffic is really bad. people are like driving so fast. and every time they've driving faster and faster. they use it as a highway when it's not.

>> reporter: flores says this is not the first crash he's seen here recently and he wants local leaders to pay attention. for the time being, he a his family brought candles to the growing memorial on the sidewalk. and redwood city police are still investigating this. they're asking anyone who witnessed this or who has any additional information to get in touch with them. alyssa goard, "today in the bay." the power is back on this morning, but last night, an outage at san jose international airport caused major hassles and delays. it lasted a little more than an hour and that was enough time to greet serious headaches for many travelers. "today in the bay's" marianne favro takes us there. >> reporter: you could see the power is back on now, but some passengers told us that the outage forced them to miss their flight, because tsa was no longer able to do security screenings. >> reporter: some passengers at sjc tell us when their planes landed, they had to wait on the tarmac longer than usual, because the power was out and the jet bridges connecting to the terminals were dark and not

operating. juan olivera says his flight missed her flight to london because tsa couldn't do their checks without electricity. >> we couldn't get past security upstairs. there was a huge line. there wasn't anything we could do at that point. >> reporter: an airport spokesperson says that the power went down at 6:30 and was restored a little more than an hour later. she said backup systems did go on, but it's not clear if they all worked. she also said it's not clear what caused the power failure or if departures were impacted. sean says he was directed to take a different path to baggage claim. >> they made us go all the way around and it became a lot darker in the airport than normal. >> reporter: some passengers said they couldn't use the kiosk to print out boarding passes. marianne favro, "today in the bay." a south bay police officer is recovering after a traffic

stop took a dangerous turn. it happened around midnight friday night into saturday morning. san jose police say a pair of officers stopped two drivers for speeding. the officer said it seemed like they were racing. police say during the stop, five people in the two cars became aggressive and attacked the officers. one officer was hit in the face, but is expected to be okay. when backup arrived, police arrested these five people. they're facing a range of charges, including assault and interfering with police. hundreds of people in san jose took to the streets yesterday fighting for safer streets after the death of a young boy on his way to school. they marched down cadillac drive in honor of 8-year-old jacob, killed near castlemont elementary school in september. he and his babysitter were in the crosswalk when a driver hit them, killing jacob. police say the driver did stay at the scene. they don't think alcohol nor drugs were factors. still, marchers yesterday argued
