giant red wave, uncle sam. giant red wave that they're all talking about. they're all talking about a red wave let's hope that materializes, and i think it will. look at this crowd look at the enthusiasm >> and the new nbc news polling shows democrats have actually pulled even with republicans over the last month when it comes to voter enthusiasm. >> so we will see if that voter enthusiasm will translate to turnout at the polls tomorrow. let's bring in richard lui to take a look at early voting. richard, always great to see you. we're seeing you now with the latest numbers and how some of them set records >> good morning to you, frances and erin boy, you talk about poll closing. 20 hours and 56 minutes to go. talking about the 2020 election, setting records for early voting at around 70% that is two years ago. here's where we are as of this year as of november 6th. that was yesterday look at the numbers here we're at 41 million.

that sets a record for mailed in or done early voting the previous record was 39 that 39 million was in 2018. but this may not translate to a higher total turnout come tuesday. based on nbc news new survey, the total votes this midterm could land below 2018's by as much as 30 million we'll have to wait and see on that here is who is voting early. 45% are democrats. 35% are republicans. and this number, this republican number is low, driven by the trump era of pushing away early voting so now many republicans vote day of as opposed to their early traditional voting habits. so it is switched in recent years. what this means, last-minute stumps, as we were just looking at by republicans may be more effective to get these voters out, these republicans to polling places in the next 20 hours. okay let's look at gender now for
