smoother dry. i don't know if it was a crash or those who held off yesterday. >> thank you very much, mike. 6:01. we start with breaking news of the layoffs of facebook's parent company me tachlt we're talking about 11,000 employees. >> it's a small town. >> we knew it was. . they're going to cut 13% of its staff. secondly it's a littlemore. founder and ceo mark zuckerberg said, quote, this is a fed moment, there's no way around. that the company will offer fuehrer months of pay plus an additional two weeks for every year of service. health insurance for former employees and their families for six months. now, zucker berlg blamed overhaiering for inflating employee numbers, and we have heard from from a number of o's.

zuckerberg pointed out some employees cut are on visas. means not only do they lose their job, but they'll likely have to leave the country. we went through this in 2021 and 2009. san francisco's largest private employer confirm they'd cut about a thousand employees this week. another 2,000 could be let go for underperforming. they built the huge office building, cleared it out for the pandemic, and few people have returned. we talked about this month. companies hired around hired and hired before the pandemic, even during the pandemic. sales force would have to cut 40,000. i'm not suggesting they should. they have to to get back to 2019 levels.

that's how fast companies had been hiring and now they're doing the opposite. >> it will be interesting to see if this is the due them. >> yes, exactly right. >> thanks, scott. moving on to decision 2022 for you this morning, we start with the results of governor newsom, projected by a wide margin. right now he's beating brian dahle soundly. >> this was in sacramento. californians need to focus on what he is calls for, universal van yas. we have a responsibility as californians to do more. to continue to assert our values, which we hold dear, certainly california values. the dream is predicated on all of us living and advancing together across every conceivable difference.
