right now at 4:30, rain, snow and wind. as the weekend storm moves out, meteorologist kari hall is tracking our hour-by-hour forecast and a freeze warning. the road closures you're going to want to know about starting tonight in the east bay. also, a purdy party. rookie quarterback brock purdy. it wasn't all celebration. the reason the niners win could have a negative impact on the team after a dynamic player was carted off the field. so much drama. this is "today in the bay" streaming live on roku, amazon fire, apple tv and online.

>> we need it. >> i have enough drama in my life. >> thanks so much for joining us. i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington is off. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's talk about this storm as it's moving throughout the state. heavy snow continues to fall in the sierra. look at this bird's eye view in the seat of the car with the fresh powder there. you can see the snow stacking up on top of rooftops as well. this is right off i-80. the road closed, you can see, understandably, for part of the day yesterday. but it's back open as they managed to clear it. chains, though, do remain required. take a look at this, snow in the east bay. you can see snow falling above the hills of livermore. this is along san antonio valley road. meteorologist kari hall has been very busy. today tracking cold temperatures. >> the cold air is rolling on in and that storm is moving out. as we look at the radar we are

seeing it all clear for here but it is moving just to our south as we do continue to see this storm system winding down for us. as far as temperatures dropping in the north bay, upper 30s. 45 in napa. 44 in fremont. we only make it into the low to mid-50s today. we are going to see some very chilly temperatures as we are going to go into the next several days but tomorrow morning even colder. and i think there will be a hard freeze in spots, so i'll be monitoring for that as well as the dense fog that typically tends to settle in after a big, heavy rainfall. we'll take a look back at some of the rainfall totals coming up in a few minutes. mike, you had a roll over crash in the north bay. we've had several crashes reported, and it seems maybe a loss of control for vehicles. over here highway 121 as you travel east. the only major intersection in the area. there was a lot more slowing a few minutes ago. it should be clearing hopefully

without any major injuries. looking at the napa area. slick roadways throughout the north bay and nothing major as far as any incidents except we have a lucky drive reporting flooding on the northbound side which is traditional around lucky drive. the freeway is open, 101 all over the east bay, contra costa county, slicker roadways. a couple scattered incidents we'll check on. no closures in the south bay either. back to you. >> lucky and not so lucky here as well, mike. a big blow to the 49ers as they watch another star player go down, deebo samuel left the game after -- you saw the play there -- he had an ankle injury. despite this injury, the niners were able to destroy the tampa bay buccaneers with rookie quarterback brock purdy outdueling tom brady. marianne favro has reaction from fans. >> reporter: niners fans are thrilled about the big win over tampa bay, they are concerned a prominent player got injured.

running play in the second quarter. the faithful worried what his ankle injury may mean. >> he's a really big part of our team, so, yes, i hope he makes a recovery soon. we need him. we definitely do. >> reporter: but for now fans who braved the rain for the game at levi's stadium are focused on the niners win, the upcoming game thursday, and coming up with a new name for the quarterback once known as mr. irrelevant. marianne favro, "today in the bay." >> ouch. >> well, he was drafted dead last. that's why. a big heads-up for late night and early morning commuters. major construction kicks off tonight. it will be closed while workers repave the roadway happening from 84 junction in sunol to the sunol boulevard exit in pleasanton. as "today in the bay's" alyssa goard explains, some drivers have been concerned about the

stretch of road for a while. >> reporter: if you drive along 680 in sunol in pleasanton you might notice -- >> the freeway needs to be improved. it's loud, very bumpy. >> reporter: caltrans says it wants to give riders a smoother ride which will require repaving and replacing a stretch of 680. >> it has to be done, and that freeway has a lot of potholes. >> reporter: so caltrans is closing the northbound portion of that freeway from the 84 junction in sunol to the sunol boulevard exit in pleasanton. this will happen monday through friday 10:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. through april. signs will guide drivers toward the detours. there will be local detours along sunol road. if you're going north from the south bay it's recommended 880 to 238 to 580. >> it's going to be a problem for a lot of people, but how else are we going to do this? >> reporter: bruce chan says the detour traffic will likely

golden gate bridge, and you can see there's water on the lens, water on the ground, but what else is headed our way? it was a wild weekend, kari. excited but busy. >> there was a lot going on. one minute it was nice and sunny, and then it was throwing down, and then it was sunny again. the wind was so high, too, saturday morning. we had a lot going on with this system. we'll take a look back at how much rain we measured as we are starting out with a storm system rolling out of here. this is l.a.'s problem now. we are going to start to see some of the rainfall drying up but take a look at how much we measured, an inch and three-quarters over the week in santa rosa and napa had 1.93. mill valley, mt. tam 4 inches of rain and in the canyon 8 inches of rainfall over the week. morgan hill over 4 inches and boulder creek in the santa cruz mountains over 6 inches of rain.

this was a huge rainmaker along with all of that wind and so now how our reservoir is doing. they were super low before all of this rain got going. 75% capacity at the reservoir. and then we take a look at uvas canyon reservoir. 18% and it went up to 39.9% for today. we've seen the reservoirs make progress and now we're headed for colder temperatures. look how heavy the trees are with all of that snow looking at palisades and you can see it was a really big dumping of snow. now we are seeing things clearing out there as well.

as we go throughout the week we are going to see all dry conditions, no more storms coming our way. we're going to see that continue at least throughout the weekend. so once again dry conditions, but very chilly. not just tomorrow morning but basically every morning as we go throughout the week into the weekend, we're going to see hard freezes especially for some of our spots that typically do get colder and our highs reach into the mid-50s. in san francisco, low 50s throughout the week and the wind gradually will start to calm down. mike, you've been watching a crash now in the south bay. we've had a number of scattered crashes. most of them no injuries reported. some minor injuries but a lot of them report cars going off of the paved area. i'm going to say it's a possibility whether slick roadways like here, north 680, it's possible your car will lose traction. be careful out there. a car off the roadway at mckey. no problem as far as the traffic flow and no major injuries. a new crash reported right here in the sunol-fremont area.
