it is 4:34 for you this morning. here we go. we got a surprise. i love this story right here. the city of hercules as a new mayor. he's only 25 years old. alex walker griffin is the man in charge right now. he has been on the council for two years and just wrapped up serving as vice mayor, and his council members selected him as mayor. he graduated from hercules high and has been involved in politics and local government since he was 13 years old. i feel like a slacker. one of his biggest motivations, his mother and grandmother. >> you can only complain so much before you decide to throw your hat in the ring, and i thought i could only go to public comment so many times and advocate for so many people before it's my time to run for office.

at 4:41, heading out in santa rosa, one degree above freezing. we will hold steady for the next few hours. we have seen clear visibility in this spot, but we have fog drifting around and will see a mostly sunny sky today but chilly. more on that coming up in a few minutes. kari, i am checking the golden gate for fog, and it's clear except for the dirty lens on the camera. cones are still out on the northbound side, so we see flashing lights and a little slowing as expected. a new report for san josé coming up in the south bay. good morning. wall street is set to open lower following the federal reserve's latest interest rate decision.

the market fell yesterday after the fed hiked the rate by half a percent, and they will top out at a higher level than previously thought, above 5%, and that's despite favorable improvements in growth and inflation. in focus today, reports on jobless claims, retail sales and industrial production. goldman sachs is considering cutting bonuses for bankers by 40% this year, and that's still being decided but the cuts are set to be deeper than its wall street rivals. it could mean high staff turnover next year. and company holiday parties are making a comeback. a report finds more than 50% of companies are planning an in-person party this year, and that's still down from 75% in

degrees, because that's the freezing point. we are seeing light patches of fog drifting around and more dense in novato, and elsewhere it has been patchy and just usually over the open grassy areas. 55 in concord. 57 in napa, and santa rosa reaching 59 degrees. tomorrow morning, we will start out at 30 degrees once again, so we're below freezing and a lot of our inland valleys, no change in the pattern, so most likely the freeze warning will continue. it's going to get a lot colder as we head towards christmas, especially for other parts of the country getting ready for the plunge of polar air. the polar vortex will be moving into parts of the midwest as well and eventuaually move into the southth around christmas. that may impact a lot of travel plans with extremely cold air coming in. fofor us w we will see a a coup storm systems moving onshore across the region.

looks like the tuesday storm is staying to our north as well as the storm on thursday, so that was looking like it was going to move into the bay area. right now those rain chances are starting to dry up for us. but we are keeping a slight chance of spotty showers on tuesday and wednesday. our temperatures, though, stay in the mid-50s for highs and morning temperatures near freezing all the way through the weekend. san francisco in the mid-50s and looking at more of the same weather at least over the next several days. as we turn to our climate in crisis, and the demand for biofuel and ethanol rises to power vehicles. according to the usda, the u.s. is the largest producer and exporter of corn and last year it was worth $86 billion with 90 million acres planted across the country, mostly in the heartland of iowa and nearby states. california produces about 20% of
