5:06 am
listing grievances including open air drug dealing and ineffective policing. they are seeking refunds on all sales and property taxes. one business owner hopes the petition sends a message. >> paying taxes does not add up. and i think a lot of these businesses that have survived the pandemic and survived everything else just hang on by a thread. >> the response from the mayor's office reads in part, quote, mayor breed has been clear on our need to end open air drug dealing in the tenderloin. the mayor knows this is challenging work and she is partnering with the district attorney who is focused on bringing prosecutions and supporting the police department to make arrests. coalition leaders are hoping for a sitdown with the mayor along with the removal of all drug dealers and more police presence.

shifting money away from campus police officers, that topic led to heated discussion in san jose. last year sj unified board members approved the formation of a an advisory committee to determine the need for school resource officers. opponents argue the $800,000 budget is just too high and more of that money should be allocated to things like mental health. the district says more money is being spent on things like student counseling but currently each school is actually dealing with that over staffing and resource officers. renewable energy advocates are voicing concerns about a new policy that will cut the amount of money solar households receive for their surplus electricity. state regulators approved the new policy yesterday. some groups argue incentive payments unfairly favor wealthier households. they fear it may cut california's new solar installations in half within two years.

now how does best in the west sound? >> i like the sound of that. >> i like it, too. >> the 49ers faithful is just the thing we were hoping to be saying this morning. it has locked up the nfc west guaranteeing a divisional playoff game at home. they came out on fire against seattle last night. did you watch the game? both sides of the ball. so, look, big hit second quarter led to that fumble and defense return. christian mccaffrey followed with a touchdown to make it 14-3. rookie brock purdy again looked like a veteran leading them to the 21-13 win. the kid, as a lot of people call him, made sure he gave props to the guys who helped him along the way. >> honestly, i don't think jimmy and trey get enough credit for what they've done. i'm coming on the scene where
5:09 am
they have been here throughout the off-season for trey and jimmy coming in and leading these guys and winning. and so for me to come in and i want to continue what they got rolling. >> the niners would need a whole lot to happen to top the conference and get the first-round bye. they will play three more regular season games before playoffs begin in early january. >> it was a great game. >> i actually watched the game. taking a live look at san francisco, dark and early for us. we will tell you it is coal out there. meteorologist kari hall has been tracking that. pack the coat, the gloves, whatever you need to keep warm, pack it. >> it is ugly christmas sweater day. you might as well wear one to the office today and stay warm. we are starting out with a freeze warning in effect for a lot of our inland areas and frost advisories. elsewhere temperatures starting out in the low thifts.

5:17 am
and his supporters said the decision made by twitter seemed arbitrary and counter to free speech. twitter's new policy prohibits posting actual physical location and other identifying information that would reveal a person's location regardless if this is information publicly available. that is a broad rule. if i take a picture at a rock concert and post it and you're in it, it reveals your location. wheels down at sfo, that posts your location. norad posts the location of someone every christmas eve. it tracks santa as his sleigh makes progress around the world because i'm a reporter who follows the rules, i contacted the pentagon to find out if they were going to follow this policy about tracking people because, marcus, santa is real. marcus. >> yes. >> and they did not get back to me. i'm shocked. >> not a surprise. >> shocked.
