how the weather is looking, kari? >> still the same. we are starting off with cold temperatures and fog in parts of the bay area, and it looks good in oakland as we take a look outside from our camera, but it's another morning where we have to bundle up. it's mostly cloudy to start, and temperatures in the mid-40s. we are going to see a mostly cloudy day. as far as visibility, a little more foggy up in napa and fairfield. elsewhere, looking good on your drive to work. 62 in morgan hill. 55, a little cooler, in the north bay, as we prepare for late evening rain. i will talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. mike, you have been watching the roads and looking smooth so far? >> yeah, you did talk about the fog, and that's what is on the map. and the weather data puts it on the road data and says you are likely to have fog in the north bay, and no driving problems as far as the speed sensors go.

there's a crash getting out of the altamont and no slowing on 205. this closure over here, highway 84, typical construction crews. last night parts of the east bay started shaking after a pair of small and minor quakes. a 3.3 magnitude hit yesterday. this was centered east of union city, and people felt that as far north as concord and as far south in san josé. a lot of people on edge following the strong earthquake along the humboldt county coast. >> i was at my dad's, and then a buddy said we have an earthquake. >> the whole room started shaking and i went outside to

see my parents, and they were all panicked, oh, did you feel the earthquake? >> there are signs of point as the community recovers from that quake. most of the power is back on. >> and "today in the bay"'s cheryl hurd has the latest. >> reporter: the power of tuesday's earthquake caught on camera. >> i had to come out three times to get a breath before i found them back in the bedroom and found them but couldn't save them. >> they explained how their two dogs died when their home caught fire after tuesday's earthquake. they left the house for 20 minutes that morning checking to make sure the fire was out in their wood burning stove before they left but it was not.

and the department of homeland security lists them as possible targets for attacks. >> you look at synagogues or a lot of other places that are vulnerable, and people are starting to look at this as something necessary. i would not say it's in the conversation just yet, but we want to be proactive about it rather than sit around and not do anything. >> recommended precautions include a highly visible security team, and if anything seems out of the ordinary, have a detailed response in place. >> happening today, a warning if you are on the coast, king tides are expected and a warning is set to start around 6:00 a.m. the highest tides are expected to occur in the mid to late mornings for the nextfew days.

it's 4:45 now. we're taking a live look outside at the golden gate bridge. i don't see any cars. is that really the golden gate bridge? >> they are moving the crews. >> the roads look pretty clear right now, mike. i know you are keeping an eye on the traffic situation this morning. >> yeah, folks are out of town already or thinking about getting out of town, and we're looking towards the freeways and talking about a crash.

the one on the peninsula side, this is on the 101 at the ends off-ramp. the crash is a reported a disabled vehicle, and i don't know if it's affecting traffic flow. that's over on the peninsula side. in the east bay, a highway closure through niles and we know 680 northbound is closed until 5:00, and since it started on the 12th they had a little delay clearing the crews. and approaching the martinez bridge, there's a disabled vehicle. but the fog not a big deal as far as the bay bridge is concerned. >> yeah, the visibility is quite high for many areas as we see the clouds higher up as the system approaches. it will bring us rain later this evening as we go hour-by-hour. most of the day is dry, and then by 6:00 to 7:00, we will start

to see light showers moving on the coast into parts of the north bay, and sonoma coastline up around lake and mendocino counties. it moves through the rest of the bay area with hit or miss showers during the overnight hours. and most of that rain, the highest rain chances and where we could measure the most is further to the north. beyond that we are head into a dry weekend with rain. as you move up around oregon as well as washington, if you are heading north that's where the rain will be. for us, the rain returns on tuesday, and we could see a significant storm system coming in, and it starts out warm and then eventually the temperatures come down, and then we see another round in sierra snow next thursday. once again, this is possibly a very significant rain and snow maker for the bay area. the potential of three to five and maybe six or seven inches of rainfall next week, so we are

going to be talking a lot about that. at least we have a few more days to prepare. if you are going to the sierra, we are looking good through christmas day. next week is when the snow begins to fall and we could see several feet of snow there going into the new year. looking at our 7-day forecast, it will be some spotty showers later tonight. otherwise, we're dry, temperatures stay mild into christmas day. next week, colder temperatures come in and that rain begins and we are going to see our temperatures staying on the cool side through about next week. now, let's turn to our climate in crisis with christmas just three days away, and you may still have gifts to wrap and put under the tree, but is the paper eco friendly. >> there's always a celebration, and that means buying gifts and wrapping paper, but it can be
