by aides who packed up his items when he left the vice presidency for more on this, let's bring in chris pollone who joins us live from washington. chris, good morning. is it safe to say house republicans are having a field day with all of this >> absolutely safe to say that, francis. good morning to you, after democrats including president biden had withering criticism for former president trump's handling of classified material, it is clear that now republicans here in washington are using this to score some political payback. the house republican leader on the oversight committee has requested visitor logs for president biden's delaware home after the white house acknowledged another discovery of six more pages of classified material there over the weekend. the white house has admitted some obama era classified documents were found back in november in a washington office mr. biden used after he left the vice presidency. and this week lawyers found more in a locked garage and adjacent

room at the president's adjacent delaware home. all the documents have been turned over to the justice department which has launched a special investigation. the president's allies argue he did everything by the book while former president trump refused to turn over classified documents stored at his florida home >> what is the proper thing for a former president to do if he finds that there are government documents or classified documents that are in his possession and my understanding is they did the right thing by immediately alerting the archives and turning them over. >> the administration hasn't been transparent about what's going on with president biden's possession of classified documents. it seems political here. it seems hypocritical. it seems like a double standard. >> and let's give you a little context on these two situations, both now being investigated by special prosecutors. it's believed president biden had about 20 documents with one marked top secret. former president trump had about 300 with 25 marked top secret.

the fbi seized those documents from former president trump after he failed to turn them over when the national archives requested them francis? >> okay, chris, thank you. at least 68 people are dead after a plane crash in nepal it is one of the country's worst air disasters in decades cell phone footage captured the doomed flight's final moments going down just as it was about to land in pokhara that's a popular gateway for hiking in the himalayas. four people are still unaccounted for at this point, but spokesperson for police tell the bbc it's unlikely there will be any survivors the cause of crash is unknown. r reuters is reporting that the flight record verse been recovered. at jfk airport, two planes nearly collided on the runway. kathy parks spoke with one of the passengers >> cancel takeoff! >> a terrifying near miss between two airplanes on the

the incident be, the delta flight returned to the gate where 145 passengers and 6 passengers deplaned. brian healey was on board during the close call >> it was like a split second of panic that resulted in this audible reaction on the plane. i felt an adrenaline and there was total quiet on the plane, and then there was relief when the plane came to a stop. >> delta issued an apology to customer, provided overnight accommodations and is investigating the incident along with the faa and ntsb. a potential tragedy averted with just seconds to spare. kathy park, nbc news we turn now to breaking news out of alabama, where a 21-year-old university of alabama basketball player was charged with capital murder. darius miles was arrested on sunday after a shooting in tuscaloosa left one woman dead police say miles and 20-year-old michael davis were involved in the shooting investigators believe the incident was a result of an argument and that the suspects

shot into a vehicle that the victim and another man were in both miles and davis are being held without bond. in a statement, the university says miles is no longer a part of the basketball team, and the school is cooperating with the investigation. now to a tragedy in the college football world a star player for the university of georgia and a team staffer died in a car crash just hours after the team celebrated their national championship victory. nbc's jesse kirsch has more. >> reporter: the university of georgia community in mourning only hours after celebrating back-to-back national football titles fans cheering on the team in a champions parade be up an offensive lineman for the team, 20-year-old devon will lock and chandler mccoy died in a car crash when the vehicle left the roadway, striking two power poles and several trees. according to authorities,

a new project is healing an old divide in miami. the overtown neighborhood was gutted when the highway was built, forcing out half of the predominantly black population and shuttering a third of the businesses guad venegas looks at the new initiative to help repair the damage done. >> reporter: when bay heights was 6, she swung from the branchs of this banyan tree. she was surrounded by the vibrant center of overtown, miami. >> nobody locked their doors we slept all night with front doors open. >> reporter: those overtown memories, the 84-year-old historian and writer grew up with are now a rarity. a predominantly black community known as the harlem of the south that had a bustling downtown and night life rapidly became a ghost town largely because of a

highway project. in 1955, president eisenhower signed the federal aid highway act. legislation would clear the way for the government to seize private property for public works projects >> around '58, when they were getting ready to do the expressway, some people already saw the handwriting on the wall, and they started moving out. it was very bad. i don't know how else to tell you, except that it was very bad. >> reporter: during the 1960s, overtown lost more than half its population and a third of its businesses overtown was sacrificed for what the government determined was necessary progress decades later, an expansion to the highway that still looms above the neighborhood brings new hope to this historical part of town. >> there is a lot kind of going on to explore. >> jessica goldman and trina
