while. as it moves inland it will bring that snow and the rain into the southwest and we are looking for several inches of snow and, i'd say several feet of snow, actually, several inches of rain, too, and that threat continues to move east into tuesday. we are looking, i'd say, an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain interior parts of california. we could see rainfall rates up to 0.5 inch per hour. again, that leads to the threat of flooding and mudslides, too, even in the sierra nevada mountain range we could see another 36 inches of snow before all is said and done as this moves eastward. >> all right. dylan, thank you. today has been declared a national day of mourning in nepal after the worst air disaster there in decades. a plane carrying 72 people crashed yesterday on the way to a popular tourist town. overnight chilling videos have emerged of the flight's final moments. molly hunter has the very latest. molly?

>> sheinelle, good morning. investigators are actually on the crash scene this morning. cloudy weather is hampering the investigation efforts. authorities confirmed 68 people dead. there is no sign of any survivors. overnight investigators recovering the black boxes from yeti flight 691. the cockpit voice recorder intact and will help what caused the twin engine aircraft to go down on a sunny, clear day. looking out the window, this facebook live stream video shows the plane coming in for landing. it was supposed to be just a 27-minute flight seen in its final seconds banking hard to qu the left, rolling 90 degrees, then flying out of the shot, then you hear the terrifying impact. a loud, thunderous crash, this eyewitness says. we saw smoke and rushed to the site. >> having that abrupt roll tells me that there's nothing potentially going on aerodynamically.

perhaps it was a lower than prescribed air speed that caused one of the wings to aerodynamically stall. >> reporter: a routine trip from kathmandu to the himalayan city of pokhara. onboard 72 people, including 15 foreign nationals. there is no word on any survivors. in contact with the airport just before crashing about a mile short of its final destination. the plane breaking apart in this steep ravine, crowds of people rushing to help, the thick black smoke billowing from the site evidence the plane had plenty of fuel. it's now the scene of nepal's deadliest aviation accident in 30 years. the high altitude, the mountains, difficult runways and the weather all historic contributors to nepal's spotty aviation safety record that don't appear to be factors. at the airport and hospital distraught relatives waiting for any news. this morning the focus turns to

latest developments, including revelations over the weekend that more classified material was found at mr. biden's wilmington home, adding to growing questions about how the sensitive records ended up in his possession after leaving the vice presidency. mr. biden's personal attorney arguing they can't release certain details quote relevant to the investigation while it is ongoing. the total number of pages recovered is uncleared. documents with classification markings have been identified in multiple locations. less than a dozen at the penn biden center in washington, d.c., back in november while the rest were unearthed in the president's wilmington residence in the last month. found in a locked garage and adjacent room. the white house admitting saturday that more classified material than previously known had been examined and handed over to the department of justice. as some democrats concede the communication misstep, especially given the president's past criticism of donald trump's

two weeks since the damar hamlin thing happened. >> hard to believe. we are happy he is getting there. dylan, the rest. forecast? >> yeah, it is messy in certain parts of the country, out west where we have yet another storm system making its way onshore, mountain snow, light snow across the northern plains in the upper midwest, minnesota, northwestern wisconsin. it's warm down south. but we could see a couple of spotty storms today, especially through the ohio river valley as we go into this afternoon. but in the northeast we have light snow, 1.6 inches of snow in boston bringing up the total for the season close to 3 inches. not much more for new england. that storm will continue to exit and temperatures in the 30s and 40s. that's a look at the weather across the country. we will get to your local forecast in the next 30 seconds. ♪ ♪ ♪

"today in the bay's" pete suratos live in oakland this morning where one direction of a major traffic artery now completely closed down. we're talking about 13 there, pete. >> reporter: yes, indeed, laura. 13 southbound near broadway terrace. i want to show you that landslide. did i talk to a caltrans worker. he mentioned they're pausing the cleanup because they're concerned it may cause more of a

landslide as they work on it so they're trying to figure things out as we speak. the call came in roughly about 10:00 p.m., a lot of moisture in the soil here from all of these storms. plenty of trees along 13 south in oakland near broadway terrace. that's a big concern. so they're saying no injuries to report at this time. right now southbound lanes here are going to remain closed until they're able to clear up this area. we'll send it to kari in the studio to look at the rest of the weather around the bay area. pete, it was raining so hard when that mudslide happened. and now we're starting to see the activity calming down but still those residual effects from the early morning heavy rain. now we're still seeing some spotty showers across parts of the peninsula. santa cruz mountains seeing another round of rain. elsewhere we see it dry up as we look outside in dublin. very wet roads and we'll even get some peeks of sunshine throughout the day. it will be chilly, only headed for the low 50s. then we'll see one more round of

altercation. the university says he has been removed from campus and is no longer a member of that basketball team. italy's most wanted man, mafia mafia boss matteo messina denaro was arrested. a convicted murderer who has eluded authorities for 30 years. the 60-year-old is thought to be the leader of the cosa nostra organized crime group. italy's prime minister says th arrest in sicily was a great victory for the state that shows it never gives up in the face of the mafia. spacex launched the falcon heavy rocket last night on a classified national security mission for the u.s. space force. it was the fifth launch for the falcon heavy which has the capability of carrying large payloads to the moon and to mars shortly after the successful journey, two side boosters landed. back at cape canaveral we have a lot more to cover, including georgia's victory and college football's national championship now tainted by tragedy.

lineman devin willock killed in a weekend car accident according to police, 20-year-old willock was riding in a ford expedition sunday morning when the vehicle left the roadway, striking two power poles and several trees. willock died at the scene. also killed the driver, 24-year-old chandler lecroy, a recruiting analyst for the team. two others who were also with the football program survived. >> all of a sudden outside i hear the crash, the power goes out. >> reporter: cecilia called 911. she went outside and saw the car. >> i don't think there was a single piece that was still in one piece. like the entire thing was crumbled like tinfoil. >> reporter: a tragedy deepened only by the timing >> what's up, man? >> reporter: just hours earlier willock joined his teammates in a victory parade through athens, celebrating the team's second straight national title. willock played both seasons. his determination on display in

an interview last year. >> i never believed there was a chance i could not get better. >> reporter: his heartbroken mother, charlene, speaking with nbc news by phone, says he was a caring person and great son who loved the game. >> this is what he wanted to do. he wanted to play football he was so proud of that team. >> reporter: now his teammates are sharing in that devastation. on social media countless tributes, memories from his brothers on the field, head coach kirby smart remembering willock as an outstanding young man in every way, always smiling, a joy to coach. and praising lecroy's incredible attitude and energy. perhaps philadelphia eagles player and former uga star jordan davis said it best. there is no grief without love and we love both of you like family guys, this is just an unspeakable tragedy. now, willock's final post on twitter gives a glimpse of what people thought of him.
