there are commercials to enjoy. we will show you a few favorites. that is all ahead this morning. let's begin with the top story. the unidentified object shutdown off the coast of alaska on friday. nbc's allie raffa is at the white house. >> reporter: peter, good morning. the search is under way for the debris of the object. the object shot down at the direction of president biden off the coast of northeast alaska. the object was flying at 40,000 feet. a risk to civilian flights. the president calling this mission a success. there are more questions than answers including the origin and capabilities. the white house highlighting the differences with this and the spy balloon shot down a week ago

this latest object come from. the biden administration said they don't know. what are the implications? >> probably russia. most countries with a significant capability are flying these balloons. >> was this a political decision. ? there was a lot of push back for the president who waited for it to cross the country. this time as soon it is it is over alaska, they shot it down. are politics playing a role? >> i hope not, peter, i hope he told the national security team i want to know right away. >> jeremy bash, thank you. we appreciate it. other news to share. the fbi collected one more classified document on friday of former vice president mike pence's home in indiana. the question is if mr. pence will be compelled to talk to the special counsel after the former

vp received a subpoena. we have garrett haake with the latest. >> reporter: fbi sergeants searching the home of vice president mike pence. they removed six additional pages. agents said the attorneys turned over a small number of documents last month. a search mr. pence authorized after material was found at president biden's former private office and delaware home. >> i was not aware the classified documents were in our residence. let me be clear. those classified documents should not have been in my personal residence. mistakes were made. i take full responsibility. >> reporter: friday's fbi search, like the two searches of president biden's delaware homes, happened aftering negotiations and did not require

a warrant. the search coming hours after mr. pence received a subpoena demanding testimony from the special counsel investigating former president trump's handling classified material and january 6. mr. pence has called the former president's conduct on that day reckless. stopped short of saying when he thinks mr. trump broke the law. >> do you think a crime was committed? >> i don't know if it is criminal to listen to bad advice from lawyers. truth is, what the president was repeating is what he was hearing from that gaggle of attorneys around him. >> reporter: mr. pence hasn't said if he will comply with the subpoena, but the testimony could compicate his future. he is widely expected to join the race for the republican nomination against his former boss. peter and kristen. >> garrett, thank you. we want to turn to the

search for survivors in turkey and syria more five days since the earthquakes rocked the region killing more than 24,000 people. amid the despair, rescuers are still pulling survivors out of the rubble. nbc'sreatt bradley was there. matt, what can you tell us? this is remarkable. >> reporter: one moment. okay, guys. we have to be quiet. we have to be quiet because rescue workers told us we can't speak, but i'll speak anyway. we witnessed something i would not have believed unless we have seen it. >> stop. stop. >> reporter: we're being told to stop. >> matt bradley, obviously there in the midst of the developing moment. peter, they are still pulling

people out of the rubble. it is a delicate situation. matt being told to stop. obviously that is the most important thing. >> we witnessed that happening. the effort is to try to find the survivors. we want to respect that. the death toll 24,000. we will have matt keep an eye on that. we want to move to other news. a video released showing a police arrest that turned deadly. a warning, this is disturbing to watch. the raleigh, north carolina police department posted body and dash and security cam video on friday that shows darryl williams fleeing a january 17th drug arrest before police tase him three times. just before the third taser strike, williams can be heard saying he has heart problems. then appears to go unconscious. he stops breathing.

williams would die an hour later at the hospital. raleigh police did not respond to nbc news request for comment. john fetterman is back home this morning after spending two days in the washington, d.c. hospital. the 53-year-old did not suffer another stroke. fetterman was hospitalized on wednesday after feeling lightheaded. he suffered a stroke last year. he has been open about the road to recovery and dealing with speech and hearing. and less than 36 hours, the kansas city chiefs and eagles face off for super bowl lvii at state farm stadium in glendale, arizona. the stakes are as big as they get in american sports. jacob soboroff with more on how the teams are getting ready. jacob, don't wake anybody up. they need their rest before it gets started. >> reporter: peter and kristen, this is crunch time the night before the big game.

good morning. thank you for joining us on this saturday, february 11th. i'm kira klapper. we are learning new information about that deadly explosion in san francisco. this morning, a 53-year-old san franciscoan named darren price is in jail and facing charges in connection to the explosion and fire that killed one person and left another badly injured. police say price is to blame for all the destruction after the explosion and subsequent fire at a home on 22nd avenue and noriega in the sunset district. they say price was booked for manslaughter, manufacturing

drugs, and two counts of child endangerment. sources tell our investigative unit firefighters found what appeared to be pressure stoves used in making some form of drugs in the garage. they found canisters used in extracting cannabis oil. all this as some nearby homeowners are trying to assess the damage that spans the spectrum, depending on how close they were to the blast site. >> they're boarding everything up to make it secure. we were told by the policemen there might be looters. >> emergency crews were extra careful with the evidence they removed yesterday. as it all traveled to a secure evidence crime lab, it sparked a hazmat situation in da daley ci for four hours. it is rainy this morning. let's check in with cynthia for the forecast. >> good morning, everyone. it is raining, and we haven't seen much of a rainmaker since the january storms.

information about a deadly car crash involving two hit and runs. a woman was killed yesterday morning in a san jose intersection after she was hit twice. it happened near the park. the woman was pushing an emty wheelchair across the street when she was hit and the van sped off. while on the ground, a u-haul hit her, as well, but it also kept going. call police if you have any information. new developments in an ongoing battle in the city of oakland over the wood street homeless encampment. a court order is back in place to prevent clearing of the encampment. the city has conducted several sweeps, but some 60 people still live there. a restraining order had kept the city from removing those people, but two weeks ago, the city said it had enough shelter beds for the unhoused still there. a judge lifted the restraining
