>> yep. >> they are kind of the big three right now. >> no question about that. >> you know, there have been four number world one's to win the players championship but scheffler will be the first champion to be to number one, even though a top five would have been good enough today. >> i think when they ask him what he is most proud of today and the pressure on him and somebody probably will, i think it will be just the way he handled his thoughts, just trusted his swing, and handled the nerves. this is a very nervous place to try to close out a tournament, and he has done it. he did it with the lead. the last time had he a big lead like that or any kind of lead going to the final round, he lost. so he overcame all of the mental hurdles. i think he'll be most proud of that. >> these things aren't easy as way to put away as scheffler leads us on to. >> he'll commit it.
3:31 pm
be candid, say it that way, about his feelings. >> lee for par first. >> an impressive player, scheffler has turned out to be. no doubter today once he got going. >> hatton put the pressure on him and scheffler put the foot on the gas. >> for par now for min woo lee. this would be a nice way to finish birdie/birdie/par. he knew it right away. thought it might grab the edge. woo's come out again from the crowd. everybody got to know this 24-year-old a lot better. he is one of those guys that kind of soaks it all in. he had a great time this week. why wouldn't you? by the way, if scheffler makes

par, he would be only the third champion to record all four rounds in the 60s on the players stadium course. greg norman in '94 and steve elkington in '97. scheffler victory train just keeps on rolling! what a finish to save it! back on top of the world!

when he won. you're an even person than a golfer and the kind of support scheffler has had. mom. and grandma is up next. she is supporting the masters logo on hearse quarter zip there. maybe that bodes well for a successful title defense there. we will see. he is certainly on a roll. damon hack? >> scottie, considering where you won, how you played, your family here and who you beat, why is this one special? >> it's a lot of fun. long day. tough day. i knew the conditions were going to get really hard late and tried to stay patient and got hot the middle of the rounds. >> what was the toughest aspect
3:35 pm
of this sunday? >> probably this morning, i'd say. i actually slept amazing last night. i was tired after the a long day yesterday and i slept pretty good. yeah. gosh. it's fun! i don't know what to say. >> four wins last year and player of the year. two wins already this season. in what ways are you a better, a different player now? >> i'm not really sure. i hope to improve and not overthink things and. >> i'm seeing moist eyes. what is it like here including your grandmother here watching you hole-by-hole and step-by-step? >> it's a lot of fun. i don't know what to say. my dad is staring at me and making it so much harder. they haven't been able to come out in a while. a newborn nephew is 9 months old and doing well and he is out here somewhere, i think. he is probably asleep. it's been a lot of fun to have the whole family out there week.
3:36 pm
we are going to go celebrate. >> players champ and number one again. congratulations. >> thank you. i appreciate it. >> as humble as ever. scottie scheffler. that 69, the only round in the 60s in the final ten twosomes today. when the heat was on again, scheffler handled it the best. the trophy presentation is coming up on the golf channel. look at the leaderboard. tyrrell hatton put a little pressure on him by burning the last five holes but you saw scottie say, i kind of got hot and put away a par and made too many putts for the field to get any closer to him. zing? >> he was the class of the field this week. in every way, shape, and form, he did it all. hit his irons the closest and three chip-ins. >> the family is

scheffler dominance continues. five-shot win the largest margin of victory on tour this season. a beautiful par at the last to put the exclamation point on it. his wife and the family celebration. that will ensue tonight. we remind you next week on tour, final stop on the florida swing, valspar championship where sam burns is a two-time defending champion. jordan spieth, justin thomas also in the field. pga tour champions in newport beach and the dp world tour in south africa. a beautiful trophy being engraved with scottie scheffler's name on it.
3:40 pm
probably could have started that a long time ago. scottie scheffler moves up a spot and gets 600 fedex cup points and move in position behind rahm and homa. you saw the talent from scheffler a long time ago. did you expect it to reach this kind of hot streak? >> it's almost impossible to predict anything like what scottie scheffler is doing right now. a feel good win because we watched him lose that big tour tow championship. he earned it with great golf do you know the stretch. the shot on 17 was all world. >> he is a good guy to root for. he has sixth pga tour win the last 27 starts for scottie scheffler. the trophy presentation will coming up on the golf channel.

valspar starts this week on the golf channel. for our entire sports crew, what "the doctor will see you now." but do they really? do they see all that you are? at kaiser permanente all of us work together to care for all that is you.

damian: we're back with the mendoza law firm here on "comunidad del valle." mr. andrew newcomb is a staff attorney there, and jorge de la cruz also works at the law firm but is also a daca recipient. so we were wrapping up that segment. which they can then submit. is that right? andrew: that's correct, mr. trujillo. so after going through and filling out all of the information--we try to phrase it in a way that's very user-friendly, that's not legalese, that's available in english and in spanish. and people can go through. they can complete that application and-- print packet all set for them to just add two passport-size
3:45 pm
pictures, the money order, and send it out-- damian: all right. you've been--if it's every 2 years, jorge, you filled it out four times or so. i'm not sure. but how complicated can it get, and how easy are you making it now? jorge: yeah. that's a great question. so, you know, it can get really complicated not just because of what needs to--the information that needs to be filled out, also keeping up with what immigration is changing, so whether the forms are updated or changed. recently we just saw a change that wasn't announced like that like it should have where, you know, the fee that the government charges of $495, you used to be able to just send one, you know, check or money order and they decided to split it into two payments. and if someone would have sent in just one, it would have been--there could have been, you know, a mistake, right, and then that holds
3:46 pm
your renewal back. and it's all these changes that make it complicated, right? it's keeping up with what immigration wants, how they want it, what information, what form, where to find the updated form. it can get really complicated, not to mention the burden of, you know, renewing now multiple, multiple times during these past 10 years. the burden of taking a day off of work or from school and then trying to gather the money to pay the attorneys or to pay, you know, organizations that are trying to help, it can get--you know, it becomes a financial burden. it becomes a burden with time, and trying to explain to your employer sometimes is not the most comfortable experience, right, when you're trying to explain, "no, i'm not going on vacation. i need a day to go talk to an attorney." so, you know, the system that was created by this law firm, you know, is honestly
3:47 pm
a key factor in helping dreamers, you know, not waste their time, not have to ask for a day--a whole day off of work or school, and most importantly not have to make that extra financial decision when filling out these forms; and also and most importantly not making a mistake when filling out these forms or maybe filling out an old form, not including the payment the way that it should. you know, it takes that whole burden at least, right? from the burden of not knowing what's going to happen tomorrow, at least we know that we're renewing correctly. damian: yeah. this is personal for you. just real briefly, if you can--i've spoken to other dreamers who've said that there is that initial shock when they find out for the first time that they're dreamers, that their parents brought them here without documentation. jorge: yeah. i mean, when i first found out, you know, i remember it like it was yesterday. right? i was a kid just like any other kid going to school and--
3:48 pm
you know, you go through school. i was fortunate enough to get decent grades going through grade school and high school. then you get to the moment where you have to either go to-- on a field trip that requires you to travel a little. you know, back-- when i was in school, there was no dream daca. so that was even worse. but then you get to college applications, then you start seeing that you maybe have a 4.0 gpa or above and you can't, you know, apply for a financial aid and you can't go to this school or you can't go to that school. you don't--you can't get a loan. you have an excellent credit score, but you can't get a loan without a cosigner. it becomes a shocking factor that, you know, at first it scares you. it scares you a lot. i know i was scared. i was wondering what was going to happen with me. but at the same time it gives you a drive. it gives you a drive to prove something not just to yourself
3:49 pm
but to society and the government as to tell them, "look, you know, i deserve to be in this country. i contribute to this country." and just like i contribute to this country, all 600,000+ dreamers contribute as well. we bring a lot of value to the united states of america, and this is our home. this is all we know. damian: yeah. no. we mentioned on the telemundo taping of "comunidad del valle" that there's a song by vicente fernandez called [speaking foreign language] you don't know how to quit. and that's you, and that's important. one final question, mr. newcomb. it feels like it doesn't matter on which side the fifth circuit lands. this--is it going to end up in a supreme court? andrew: very likely, and that's an unfortunate and very terrifying possibility. and if there is a negative decision by the supreme court, my hope would be that that would spark a grassroots movement because there's a lot of bipartisan support to give some stability, some security to daca recipients. and i want to echo what mr. de la cruz
3:50 pm
was saying about the difficulty-- the increasing level of difficulty with filling out a simple work permit, a simple daca renewal. forms that used to be 2 pages are now 9, 11 pages, with all kinds of opportunities to make some kind of bureaucratic mistake. the filing fees keep increasing and meanwhile the whole status of the program is in limbo. it's an unfortunate situation. so we're proud to offer the assistance that we can and try to streamline the process and eliminate some of those costs. damian: all right. well, we thank you for sharing this information with us and for helping out our fellow dreamers out there. thank you so much. jorge: thank you. damian: thank you once again. and, again, we're going to show you the website for the mendoza law firm because they do have that information available where you can fill out your renewal application for daca. and we're going to be back after these messages and celebrate the mexica new year. so you want to stay with us.

on twitter it's @newsdamian. we thank you once again for sharing a part of your sunday with us. we're celebrating this weekend the mexica new year. it's happening at emma prusch park all weekend long. it ends today, but we want to share an interview we did with one of the organizers and a little bit of video of some mexica dancers. we'll see you next week. damian: and we're back with pedro aquihua perez of calpulli tonalehqueh talking about the mexica new year celebration coming up in san jose the 10th through the 12th of march. and i've seen you in your vestuario, and--is it the more experience you have the more plumas that you get to wear, or how does that work? pedro aquihua perez: yeah. good question, damian. that is very much so what happens. you know, we take our regalia very seriously. it's part of our medicine. it's part of our culture that, you know, we employ and that we have. and so everything has a meaning. it's not just random. it's not just because i like the color blue or green
3:53 pm
or what have you. it's all related to our name, to everything that is important in our lives. and so our regalia is a representation of that, and the feathers, you know, are very special to us. they're sacred. they are earned. and so, you know, dancers that are beginning will earn their feathers based on the work that they've put in; you know, everything that they do to support themselves, their family, their community. as they grow older, as they get more mature and understand, you know, the symbolism, the meaning behind everything, then they begin to earn their feathers quite literally. and so that's how you, you know, kind of grow spiritually in that sense. damian: we're looking at video right now. we see the acorns on the ankles. is there a significance to the acorns? pedro: yeah, very much. again, it's part of our medicine.
3:54 pm
it allows us essentially from a practical standpoint to carry the beat, to join with the beat of the drums so that we're able to, you know, understand rhythm, understand steps, and understand, you know, kind of our ceremonial dance. damian: i'm getting a lesson here. i really appreciate it. a crash course in aztec culture. so give us specifics. the 10th through the 12th, it's a whole weekend dedicated to danza and to the mexica new year. pedro: yeah. it's a beautiful community event, damian, free for everyone to join us. it starts on march 10th at 5:00 p.m. and it goes through march 12th, sunday. so on friday, march 10th at 5:00 p.m. we begin with our cali native night. this is where we gather in unity all the local native tribes, the first nations of california. and so we will be honoring the ohlone muwekma tribe, which is our local tribe here in the bay area here
3:55 pm
in specifically san jose. but also we have many other native dancers showcasing their ceremonial songs and ceremonial dances. saturday then is the mexica dancers primarily during the--most of the day from 11 on. and then sunday we also have other nations participating. this year we have the honor of welcoming the makah nation from washington to join us and to share their song and dance. we also have some, you know, people from mexico. the totonacs are coming in from mexico as well as grupo tribu, celebrating their 50th year doing percussion mexica music. damian: and you talked about the aztec dance from mexico, the makah from washington, the muwekma ohlone.
3:56 pm
different nations, but it's one culture. it's the same spirituality that you all share. pedro: yeah. thank you, damian. yes, very important. you know, we're all native. we're all native, and we celebrate unity. our differences are essentially, you know, not that important to--you know, in terms of the whole idea of uniting under our indigenous culture. we all celebrate and we all honor, you know, the sacred elements of life. we all honor mother earth and our father sun. and so this is what brings us together in ceremony and in celebration. damian: i get a sense that, pedro, that if you-- maybe you're having problems at home paying the bills or something's piling up, you know, some conflict at home and you show up to a ceremony like this, [speaking foreign language] you forget about everything and there's some sort of zen that takes place.
3:57 pm
pedro: yeah. exactly, damian. you know, this is medicine. it's medicine for the individual. it's medicine for the family. it's medicine for the community. and this is why it's so important. this is why it's so important to celebrate, you know, the-- our new year because we come into a good way, we come respectfully. there's no drugs or alcohol allowed. it's a family affair. it's just a beautiful feeling. and you're right. you know, you get a sense of, you know, strength. you get a sense of a good, powerful energy that you can take back to your home and your community and work through, you know, all the issues that we have; the day-to-day, you know, grind, the things that we have to face on a daily basis. damian: that's wonderful. pedro, any final thoughts before we let you go? pedro: you know, this year we're celebrating the-- our year is 11 reed. and so it's really important to come out and kind of get an understanding of what that means.
3:58 pm
it's important to come out and celebrate with us. join in unity, you know, the community affair. just a beautiful celebration. and so you'll feel welcome. we'll do everything in our power to make you feel strong and, you know, just happy. have a great weekend in community. damian: all right. pedro aquihua perez, maestro at calpulli tonalehqueh, thank you for your time, for sharing it with us. pedro: thank you, damian. damian: thank you. at the end of the show we're going to play that clip in its entirety, the calpulli tonalehqueh; but, again, the mexica new year celebration march 10th through 12th, emma prusch park in san jose. ♪♪♪ ♪♪♪
