weekend. make sure you're staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen. we always give these reminders with the first burst of the warm temperatures we'll see, and never leave kids or pets unattended in a vehicle. the warm weather continues into next week. take a look at these temperatures, reaching 77 in novato, santa rosa 80 today. we'll see low 80s for the south county and low to mid-70s for the peninsula. we'll take a look at the weekend forecast coming up. mike has a look at the early-morning commute. >> most of the commute this early morning is not really a commute. green sensors around most of the bay. there's a little bit of slowing on westbound 580. the crash was past north flynn, but it looks like it just cleared from the roadway because the speed sensors have improved over the last 90 seconds. they've removed it from the traffic map. let's get a look at 580 a little farther down. volume is starting to pick up

through dublin. yesterday we had big problems out of the altamont pass all morning. so we'll give you the all clear right now, smooth flow. back to you. >> thanks, mike. new this morning, did you feel it? a 3.2 earthquake was striking here hollister around 2:15 this morning. people felt it as far away as salinas. the south bay mom accused of hosting alcohol-fueled parties for minors is expected back in court to set parameters for a plea deal. shannon o'connor has been held without bail for more than a year after being arrested out of state. earlier this week her attorneys asked the judge how much time she might face were she to plead guilty to all charges, which include sexual battery, and providing alcohol to minors. the judge set today's hearing to hear from victims and review more evidence. families and friends are mourning the life of a san jose man who was gunned down while walking his dog.

he was near blossom hill road on wednesday afternoon when he was shot and killed. torres took care of his mother, who lived with him. dozens of people showed up at a vigil last night. his family says he touched many lives. >> my uncle was a big piece in our family and all these people are gathered today to try to find an answer or try to help out in some way and show their appreciation. for the person that's out there, we just want justice. >> his family says she want to make it clear that he was not involved with any gangs. sjpd is asking for the public's help locating a suspect. the warriors finally have a win in this playoff series, bouncing back with two key players out of the lineup. >> the team dominated the kings. temperatures starting out mild, and then warming up for today. it's already breezy, northwesterly wind at 17 miles per hour, and then going into today, the wind calms down and temperatures head up. we'll talk about the weekend forecast coming up. looking at this beautiful view of the golden gate bridge, beautiful to look at. ♪♪ hi, i'm bertha coombs from cnbc. we've got wall street looking like it's going to open fractionally lower this morning, following a negative session yesterday. the dow falling more than 100 points, while the s&p 500 and nasdaq both lost more than half a percent, a big reason why, tesla, because the company reported worse than expected earnings results and it dropped 10% after that earnings report. dow, nasdaq and s&p are on track to end the week in the red with the dow and s&p set for their

worst performance in more than a month. in focus today, we are waiting on data on the manufacturing and service sectors. we heard from procter & gamble this morning. their earnings better than expected. they've got pricing power. expect to keep paying more for things from p&g. >> meantime, tesla is hiking presses on the model s and x. you're saying, wait a minute, didn't they lower prices on other models? they've lowered prices six times this year. but the plaid version of the model s and x are about to be about $3,000 more while the price on the base models will set you back 2% to 3% more. this after on wednesday ceo elon musk doubled down on the price war he started last year, saying that tesla would make sales growth a priority over profits. but i guess not for the model x. >> now, if you love big mac sauce, we used to call it special sauce back in the day, you can now get it on anything,

the opportunity i've been wanting. >> there will be more cadets graduating the program tomorrow in oakland, which is also earth day. so to learn more about this program and our climate in crisis, visit our website, nbcbayarea.com. now as you get ready to head out this morning, we're getting ready for a significant warm-up over the next few days. right now as we take a live look outside in san jose, it's all clear and we're in for sunshine. now that we're seeing clear skies across the region, all of the rain farther to the north, but take a look in the pacific. it looks to be a storm that's going to be coming in, but this will actually be the leading edge of some cooler temperatures that will be moving in on sunday, with some gusty winds. so you'll have plenty of opportunities to check out the meteor shower. the lyrid meteor shower will be peaking over the next couple of days, if you're patient and have a clear, open sky, you can see

about 15 to 20 meteors per hour, as temperatures warm up. so you won't have to bundle up as much, even during the overnight hours. and our temperatures reach into the upper 70s for fremont today, 77 in novato, and even some 80s here. this may be the first time this year we're hitting 80 degrees in some spots like morgan hill. tomorrow it's still pretty warm across much of the bay area, with upper 60s in san mateo, 73 in oakland, and 78 degrees in livermore. by sunday, we'll see some of these temperatures coming down, but still really nice out there for any outdoor activities. if you're heading out to the beach and going to half moon bay, heads up that it's still going to be cool out there and we will have a couple of days with some milder weather, reaching into the low 60s. but then by sunday into monday, it's back in the upper 50s. you can see the spike in temperatures again for the middle of next week. about the same in gilroy. we're going to have a couple of days of slightly cooler temperatures, but all across the bay area big changes ahead as it

feels very much like early summer out there. but then we'll bring it back to some spring weather for sunday and monday. mike, you were hearing about a new crash? >> west 237, just as you pass by, it looks like everything should be off to the shoulder. i'll monitor that with chp. no injuries reported. the rest of the south bay, no problems showing up on the grid. we do have an issue getting across the dumbarton bridge. a little bit of slowing. there was a crew yesterday just on the east side, opposite the toll plaza, and it looks like there may be folks there as well. but as you drive across the bridge, the cameras don't show any problem for drivers over there. we're looking at a smooth flow of traffic through the east bay, from richmond to san rafael. back to you. it's certainly not 30 rock, but quite the field trip for the third hour of the "today" show team. >> they're taking everything on the road, they're here in the bay area in wine country.
