the weekend at queen elizabeth's favorite retreat in scotland, surprising the locals. >> how are you >> reporter: a fan taking a photo of the couple. stepping out to visit a new restaurant prince harry is set to join the rest of his family in less than two weeks. he and his wife continuing to attract distracting headlines. meghan who is not attending the may 6th coronation now publicly responding to an article tha claimed after that bombshell oprah interview two years ago she had an exchange of letters with king charles that left her unhappy about some of her allegations about unconscious bias in the royal family a spokesperson for the sussex's calling the story false and frankly ridiculous saying in part the duchess of sussex is going about her life, not thinking about conversations from two years ago related to conversations from four years ago
7:34 am
and we encourage the tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating we did reach out to buckingham palace for comments on this story. they declined to comment and we should note the susse spokesperson didn't deny the existence of a correspondent between meghan and now kin charles. they said the reason she's staying behind is to be with the kids on coronation day, otherwise known as prince archie's 4th birthday. guys >> well, that's a good excuse. all right. >> we'll take that let's take a look at the dynamics inside the royal family with daisy mcandrew. let's talk about this back and forth about these letters that no one has actually seen the letters, but what do you make of all of it? >> i think it's really interesting that, as we just hearing, there isn't a denial these letters happened of course, within that fevered time just after the infamous
7:35 am
oprah interview where the allegation was that the royal family was racist, and that did huge damage to the standing of the royal family i think not just in this country but around the world so it is not surprising there was a back and forth king charles wrote to meghan expressing the sadness and meghan replied allegedly she wasn't saying this individual was racist. she was saying it was an example of unconscious bias. some would say that's slightly dancing on the head of a pin i think as far as meghan i concerned, there is a distinction between the two. >> okay. harry is coming to the coronation, that we know is this an example of doing the bare minimum or perhaps is it a sign that, you know, there is a thaw there between his father and himself. >> i think all of the optimists amongst us would be hoping this would be a sign that the frosty relationship is starting to thaw i think the relationship between
7:36 am
harry and his father is better and closer than it is between harry and william. at the moment, there is no sign that that relationship is on the mend we don't believe they will be seeing each other. we think harry will be coming in in a brief visit, going to the coronation and then flying back to california pretty much directly afterwards. which will be a great sadness to a lot of monarchists around the world. >> tell us about the optics. what is it going to look like? will there be an opportunity if they are sitting together somewhere, will harry be with them or somewhere else >> there have been strange reports that the seating plan during the coronation has been sorted out and that harry is allegedly going to be ten rows back from the rest of the royal family personally, i'm taking those stories with a pinch of salt i think it is a little mischief making when none of us know what
7:37 am
it is going to be like, whethe there is any hugs or smiles between the members of the royal family that we know do have real problems but this is such an important day, the most important day in king charles' life and harry clearly is making a real effort to come over many people sad that meghan is not joining him, but it is an elegant compromise. >> thank you. >> all right less than two weeks to the coronation all right. when we come back here, we will pass along some encouraging news about the health of oscar winner jaime fox. nearly two weeks after he was admitted to an atlanta hospital. we will have the latest on that in a live report. first, it was a historic weekend for ryan reynolds and rob mcelhenney's soccer team couldn't write a better script. >> you really couldn't ryan reynolds described soccer as the most romantic thing on earth. even if you don't know anything about sosoccer, who o doesn't la little romomance with h ryan reynolds
