what can we expect to see in this new bipartisan bill >> reporter: good morning to you. this bill proposes banning children under the age of 13 from using social media of any kind that includes tiktok, facebook, instagram, twitter and many others it would also require parental approval for kids to use the platforms between the ages of 13 and 17 this is a rare moment of bipartisanship, during a tim where republicans and democrats are very divided on capitol hill the authors of this bill could not be further apart on the political spectrum, but they are both parents of young children, and they're united in their concern in the link between poor mental health and social media meanwhile, utah and arkansas have already signed new laws requiring parental consent for anyone under 18 to join social media platforms.
