we've seen in the last few days. thank you so much for starting your final weekend of the month with us. i'm kira klapper. cynthia pimentel joins us with a peak of the climate micro forecast. did i get that right? a slight cooldown? >> oh, yeah. the gray coming slightly early and karl the fog saying don't forget me. i promise you all the high rises are still there. the low clouds are making their way into downtown san jose today. we're feeling the cool temperatures in san jose along the coastline and even as we make our way into santa rosa. along with that, be careful of the visibility if you're headed out the door in the next couple of minutes. full forecast for you, we'll keep the mild temperatures in the inland valley. the cool front will bring gusty winds into the bay area and the return of that rain. i'll be back with that in just a

little bit. kira. we begin with breaking news out of texas where a manhunt is underway following a deadly mass shooting. four people were killed at a home in cleveland, texas, about 45 miles north of houston, and a fifth victim, an 8-year-old, who was life flighted passed away. they're searching for francisco ora pay say, a san francisco national. he's related to all. he was noun to shoot an ar-15-style gun in the neighborhood, but it's not yet known if it was the weapon that was used. three others, all children, were taken to the hospital as a precaution. back here locally, a follow-up to some breaking news we brought you last night at 11:00. a warehouse fire on bay shore boulevard in san francisco is out this morning. firefiters say the two-alarm

vegetation fire ignited around 10:30 last night in a homeless encampment before spreadiding ta nearby area. it tooook m more than an hour a half too extininguish thehe fir. fortununately noo one was injur. the cause of that fire is under investigation. and a tight-knit community in the east bayou nighted last night for a candlelight memorial. it was for the home depot security guard who was killed while working to stop a shoplifter last week. what's so special is it was organized by people in the community who never met the victim. >> they're remembering the hero, honoring a boy scout. >> blake made me feel so comfortable there. it was because of him i kept coming back. >> reporter: and lighting candles for the 26-year-old. >> he was more than a co-worker. he was a friend and a family

member, and we all miss him terribly. >> reporter: police say he died after confronting a 32-year-old as she tried to shoplift. she shot at him after an altercation. she was later arrested along with hergetaway driver in oakland. >> i feel very sad. i don't know what to say. i couldn't even sleep during that night. i was thinking about him. this young man should have a very bright future. >> reporter: a case that motivated those who never met him before to attend and even organize his individual sniel different kinds of people have different kinds of gravity. >> reporter: tonight many shared their memories with blake and sent him one last message. >> i appreciated him so much. his friendship meant the world to me. >> reporter: the suspects are expected to enter a plea on may 12th.

a private security guard at a san francisco walgreens is under arrest for a deadly shooting at a store on market street near "forbes." 33-year-old michael earl wayne anthony was taken into custody shortly after the shooting yesterday. the medical examiner identified the victim as 24-year-old china brown of san francisco. a witness says she knew the victim who was walking out of the store when she was shot. >> she was doing whatever she was doing in the store. i was on my way out. i was by the little pay thing and she was out before me. as soon as she was walking out, all we heard was boom, boom and dropped to the floor. i was looking at her. >> police are relaying very little information only to say a theft occurred. the national guard and chp are now coming into san francisco to help crack down on the city's fentanyl crisis. now we know when they'll arrive and what exactly they'll be doing. leaders of both groups appeared

alongside san francisco leaders yesterday to lay out their plan. their primary focus, cracking down on drug dealers and fentanyl trafficking operations. it all starts on monday. the chp will be doing three things,irst sending officers into the streets tork side by side with the sfpd in high-crime areas. second,hey'll provide specialized training to sfpd officers to prevent drug-related crimes. third, they'll assist in trafficking instations. the national guard is not sending troops into t city. rather theyil help map out where cartels are operating and use data to figure out how to dismantle them. city leaders stress that their goal is not to arrest their way out of the problem but instead cut off major drug dealers and the cartels backing them. >> when the governor came to san francisco with the attorney general and they did a walk in the tenderloin, they heard the

pleas and the cries of the community asking for help, asking for something different. well, this is something different, and i'm looking forward to a real change in our city. >> san francisco accomplishes have made 269 arrests in a very small area in the course of four months. when you think about that, i think about your own community, think about the drug dealers being taken from your community. that's what the people who live and work in the tenderloin have to deal with day in and day out, and that has to stop. >> not everyone is on board with the reinforcements. the head of the coalition on homelessness in san francisco worries these efforts will mimic the war on drugs approach of decades past and disproportionately criminalize people of color. happening today, alameda

county is ending its eviction moratorium. the policy was put in place at the beginning of the pandemic, and the goal was to temporarily stop evictions, protecting tenants who were at risk of becoming unhoused. there have been rallies against the moratorium and they're calling on the county to reimburse them for any loss of income. you likely know by now it was not a good night for dub nation. the faces say it all. the warriors failed to win over the kings and they're forced to face a game seven game in sacramento to keep their playoff game alive. 90 miles to the east, a different look. the kings did what they haven't yet done in this series, beat the warriors at home. now the series is tied, 3-3. to a winner-take-all game seven after the warriors failed to take care of business at home against the sacramento kings. the warriors were nearly unbeatable in the postseason at chase center, going 13-1 before their loss to the kings in game six. the warriors were playing catch-up early and klay thompson got it going. he scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half, but the kings' bench was the difference in this one. the sacramento subs outscored the bench led by malik monk who dropped a team-high 28. steve curry had a game-high 29, but the kings were feeling it from behind the arch. they canned 17-3 pointers. sacramento blows out golden state, 118-99. now the warriors are facing a must-win in game sneechb the right team won, that's for sure. they came in and earned the victim and now we've got to regroup and get ready for game

clara county library district wants to help you be protected from scammers. it's hosting its second online protection program at the cupertino library. the fb i says back in 2021 there were more than 847,000 complaints of internote crime, the top crimes being personal information. crypto investments and nondelivery schemes. the county says scammers are always finding new ways to take advantage of people. the event starts at 3:00 p.m. today. oak lan a's fans gathered to look at the potential loss. the rally kicked off at the oakland coliseum where the a's were taking on the cincinnati reds in the first home game since the team announced they signed a land deal in las vegas. several fans gathered in the park's slot and on nearby overpasses to voice their displeasure with the team. one small solace for fans, there's no stadium built yet in

the only places that will be warming up to the upper 70s and 780s as we make our way into areas such as concord, dub lick, and san jose, 77 for you and 81 down in st. martin. we're awaiting our next cold front in the bay area. winds are definitely going to pick up especially as we go on into sunday. i'm already thinking of all the plants i put on the deck to get some sunshine this week. those need to come back in. as i advance this clock into sunday afternoon, look at that. 30 to 40-mile-per-hour winds as you make your way into france. i'm noticing in part with morin and the purple area. even in the south bay, it's going to be a pretty windy day as we go through the last day of april on into may. already making its entrance and going to knock down the temperatures, even more as we go on into tomorrow. look at that. only 60s tomorrow as we go on into the immediate bay. 72 the highs in fairfield. if you want to hold onto the warmer temperatures, definitely

extensive training and are now officially on duty as a team. the dog needs a name. and the department has chosen to name him rowan, a 150-year-old boy from michigan who was hoping to be a canine handler as well. his organs saved the lives of 20 people across the united states, the youngest life, a 1-year-old baby boy, the oldest, a 56-year-old woman. among those saved, this woman right here, wendy ryan of northern virginias who brother is chief of the campbell police department. wendy tells us she was within weeks of dying when she received rowan's smau bowel and large intestine. today on what would have been rowan's 12th birthday she'll meet his mom for the first time. >> in her darkest hour when she had just lost her son, she made a choice to give life to other

after the shooting outside the store on market street near forest. the victim has been identified as 24-year-old victim chynna brown. a friend of the victim said she saw her walking out the store right before she was shot. >> she was doing whatever she was doing in the store. i was on my way out. i was by the little pay thing, but she was out before me. as soon as she was walking out, all we heard was boom, boom. she dropped to the floor. i'm looking at her. >> investigators have released very little information other than to say a theft took place during the incident. california taking a big step toward cleaner air in the future. state air regulators approved rules to ban the sale of new diesel big rigs. the transition requires big rigs and local delivery and government fleets to move to zero emission engines by the year 2035. garbage trucks and local buses must be zero emission by 2039. and all other vehicles covered

by the regulation must transition by the year 2042. while truckers say the goals are unrealistic, the environmentalists say the move is key to reducing smog in our state. the rules are the first of their kind in the world. now to rats in classrooms and ceiling tiles collapsing. those are just some of the conditions teachers at one oakland middle school are dealing with and now they're demanding action, but they say the school district is not listening to their concerns. have to clean up themselves. parents are now worried about their children eating and studying under these conditions, but the cleanliness concerns don't stop there. >> you can see on the wall they tried to clean the uurien that came down. >> reporter: those are pee drippings from a second floor urinal. they have complained several times but they're still waiting for repears. for now no one can use the urinal upstairs. this monday the ceilings in a sixth grade classroom collapsed. fortunately it didn't happen during classroom hours, but kids are worried, and now parents are also concerned after learning that the last special day class at the middle school will be canceled next year. this mother says her daughter will be forced to attend a school further away where she'll have to take two buses to get

there. we reached out to the school district but have not yet heard back. >> reporter: the oakland school district plans to hold classes on monday despite a threat of striking from teachers. this video is from a big rally on wednesday after the teachers union voted to authorize a strike this coming week if a contract is not reached. the leaders sent a message to parents school will be in session as usual on monday and the district will be at the bargaining table with union leaders over this weekend. we're following this story closely and will bring you an update when an agreement is reached. happening today, eligible alameda county residents will be able to get free smoke alarms installed. you'd need to register first. register at

a manhunt is underway following a mass deadly shooting. five people were killed at a home in cleveland, texas, about 45 miles north of houston. the san jacinto county sheriff say they're searching for francisco orapeza, a 38-year-old mexican national. he's believed to be a neighbor to the victims, all of whom were related. the victims are all from honduras and range in age from 8 years old to 40. some were mothers found dead using their bodies to cover their surviving children. the sheriff's office says police were responding to a harassment complaint when they received additional calls of shots fired. orapeza is noun to shoot an ar-15 stile gun in the neighborhood but it's not never whether that was the gun that was used. three victims all children were taken to the hospital. a warrant for his arrest has been issued with a bd of $5
