francisco in a few hours. two weeks ago momeni's arraignment was delayed because his lawyer said she did not receive the autopsy and tox coality report with enough time to review it. ready could to the several drugs were in his system at the time of his death. and the prosecutor says they are prepared to move forward with the case. according to court documents, investigators have security camera video of bob lee and knee momeni getting in on a car and minutes later footage video shows what police believe is the same vehicle and the two people exiting the car. surveillance video shows moments after bob lee was stabbed. and police collected a steak knife near the area where they believe was used to stab lee

multiple times including once in the heart. the vehicle time family was present and they were very disappointed at yet another delay last time. so today may be a day that they were waiting for. and a congressman says his life was threatened by a former 49er and he is showing the evidence before eric swalwell posted this on twitter yesterday, a screen grab of a direct message appearing to come from former 49er full back bruce miller. it reads would you rather guantanamo or just execution. and it also included an expletive and the word traitor. swalwell scissors his family and staff are deeply disturbed by this and he reported that threat to capitol police. we reached out to capitol police but haven't gotten a response yet. as for miller, he had a troubled tenure with the 49ers.

the 9ers cut him back in 2016 after he was arrested for punching a 70-year-old man at fishman's wharf. and he pled no contest to a domestic violence charge in 2015. right now it is not clear if miller specifically was behind the threat to congressman swalwell. and this morning president biden is in japan for the g7 summit and back at home, his team of negotiators are still working to prevent the u.s. from defaulting on its debt obligations for the first time ever. brie jackson is joining us live from washington. the june deadline will be here before we know it. >> reporter: that's right. the clock is ticking. so before leaving washington wednesday, president biden expressed optimism that deal would be reached. but some democrats are pushing for the president to raise the debt ceiling without congressional authorization.

at 10:00. and reaching into the mid-60s for around lunchtime. so that is what we're talking about. reaching 73 in san jose. we started on you the week with mid to upper 80s and then we'll see morgan hill, gilroy reach into the mid-80s this afternoon. and for the inland east bay, warmest temperature we have here on the map is 84 compared to the 66 in oakland and 69 in hayward. pleasanton reaching 80 degrees. the seven day forecast is at the bottom of the screen and you see that we'll have more days with highs in the 70s as our temperatures reach into the 60s up and down the peninsula, 63 in downtown san francisco. and in sonoma, expect it to top out at about 76 degrees. if you are going to tahoe, we'll see temperatures there warming into the low 70s. and we're seeing quite a bit of warmer weather for the sierra, but also the potential of thunderstorms by the end of the

weekend. and with the warmer weather, now we have some flood watches in affect area wise across sierra and some of the lower lying areas down from the sierra snow that we're seeing melting fairly quickly causing a rapid peak of the rivers and creeks. so we're watching for that as the warm weather continues. but also going to see some showers and thunderstorms develop in some of those areas. not really affecting much of us in the bay area. not expecting any chances of rain. but we are going to see our temperatures staying mild into at least the middle of next week. there will be a slight warm up in sunday and monday, but other than that, a lot of 70s for inland. and for san francisco, we'll continue to see highs in the 60s each morning starting out with some clouds and fog. and even though it is thursday, we typically see a bit more traffic. >> and we're seeing that, but first of all we'll call out over here on the peninsula, still a bit of slowing around the crash

and then we'll gradually warm up going from 61 to 71. here is a look at the high temperatures. this is cooler than the past few days especially in san jose only reaching 73, but still reaching into the mid-80s for the south county as well as over towards fairfield. we'll be tracking the weekend forecast. and some folks are still working. >> overnight closure here north 680, that is still closed and camera showing no traffic flowing. but sensors are starting to light up this different colors. crews are moving and getting ready to completely clear north 680 in the next few minutes and then you should be just fine. we still have light traffic at the bay bridge. only slowing is altamont pass which is no surprise. and one city is moving

backwards where it comes to population growth. >> and bob redell is joining us live from the south bay. san jose no longer in the top ten? >> reporter: not when it comes to population. used to be top ten, but now only the 12 the largest city in the united states. this is according to the u.s. census bureau, latest data that was just released. and this is data that reflects what the standings were as of july of last year. top five largest cities, no surprise, new york, l.a., chicago, houston and phoenix. and here is the surprise. austin, texas now number nine. jacksonville number 10. and they have pushed san jose out of the top ten list. san jose now 12th with around 971,000 people. that is a 1% drop from the year

before and 4% since april of 2020. san francisco ranked 17th with just over 800,000 people and is that about half a% drop from the year before. so where are they going? no surprise texas and florida, both states have lower taxes and depending on where you are looking, they have cheaper housing. the "san francisco chronicle" says it could be a bad sign for the economic future as fewer people mean less tax revenue. bob redell, "today in the bay." >> so i guess we should be friendlier to our friends and neighbors and keep them around. father of banko brown is speaking out about how his son a tranlg man was killed by a security guard at a walgreen's. terry brown talked to us about the loss saying that words can't express the feeling of

losing a child. he has not watched the security video of the incident released earlier this week. d.a. jenkins says that the security guard's motive was some of defense. anthony told investigators that brown repeatedly told him that he had a knife, though no knife was found. brown has his own thoughts about why his son was killed. >> i think it was the gender. what my son represented. why would you be a person like that that is not armed or not carrying no gun, no weapon, no nothing. >> brown says that he is stunned that the district attorney refused to file criminal charges against anthony. he hopes that the state attorney general reviews the district attorney's case and files charges. a florida woman is being extradited by to california for the murder of a model. christina was known for her

rallying to protest against san francisco's laguna honda hospital. the group is demanding that the hospital stop discharges patients which they say led to deaths of several patients and some becoming unhoused. the discharges are supposed to start again as early as tomorrow. this comes after federal regulators temporarily stopped transfers last summer after 12 people who were transferred to other nursing homes died. the staff is working to make improvements. today's rally will be on laguna honda boulevard at 4:00 p.m. today might be the best day for you to ride your bike to work. people who travel with a bike will get free coffee and snacks and a tow bag. in oakland, bike east bay will host a post work happy hour to encourage people to ride bikes

district. and north bay temperatures ranging from 60 near the coast to 85 in clear lake. more warm weather in the forecast, and also watching out for the potential of some thunderstorms in the sierra. as we look at concord and the 10 day temperature trend, we're going from upper 70s to low 70s on saturday. that looks beautiful. but then it does warm up a little bit for early next week. but nothing too extreme there as we look at our extended forecast, a lot of sunshine and also mild weather. mike, you are seeing changes at the bay bridge toll plaza. >> and what everyone expects. metering lights are on and so the toll plaza fills in. no drama, so we know we'll have the wait. but look at richmond, easy slowing into berkeley. no problems for the maze. highway 4 as shown the early build and it continues, same thing for 37 over towards island. no delays out of richmond. and there may be a crash over here on the west side of the

now to the climate in crisis. one of the massive consequences of climate change is the melting of ice sheets in green land and antarctica. and in a new study published last week, resaernlgs believe that the retreat in one green land glacier could be happening faster than expected. the peterman glacier is one of the largest glaciers in the arctic circle. it was recently discovered to

have a gaping hole taller than the washington monument due to daily tides and increasingly warmer water. and this is a significant finding because scientists previously thought that daily tides did not have a significant impact on melting and projections for ice metal did not take it into account. a publishing says that global ice loss and sea level rise may be happening twice as fast than expected. a team of scientologists found a 669 foot cavity in part of the peterman glacier and they were alarmed at the findings that the melt rate was about 50% higher than the last three years. scientists on the study are worried that it is a sign that other vulnerable glaciers may be melting more quickly than forecast. and the the melting can affect
