agents whose conduct in cases related to the january 6 assault opt capitol brought into question their allegiance to the united states. the letter preceded the appearance of two of these agents, steven friend and marcus allen, before the republican-led house sub committee on the weaponization of the federal government according to the letter, friend told his management in florida that he would not work on the january 6 cases and espoused an alternative narrative of the day's events allen, similarly embraced alternative theories about january 6 and failed to provide relevant information to a special agent about a suspect who was discovered to have physically assaulted capitol police officers. allen previously revealed in a lawsuit against the bureau that he had been suspended without pay. >> all right, brie, want to can you, what did this republican-led sub committee expect to hear from these agents >> reporter: well, friend and allen appeared in a hearing
