for the latest twist and turn of how crazy this game can be, padraig harrington is inside steve stricker's wedge from his wheelhouse distance, while harrington had a 3 wood from 285 yards. so stricker will putt first. for birdie. >> i think that's the definition of rising to the occasion. >> harrington again is for par. >> guys, it does seems that stricker is putting on the line, very close from where he was in regulation, so he may have a good idea, and also a little slower than hi originally thought. >> it looked like to me like it was short of the hole, but it kind of fell to the left, too, which is surprising. i would think this might go a little right, bones? >> i didn't get a chance, but i

wasn't quite sure if he was going to dive right at the hole, but you have to think, this one will have more speed, which would help it straighten out. >> stricker has a birdie to close it out and win the title. >> almost a carbon copy of the putt he hit at the 72nd hole. >> so now harrington has to make it to move it to the second sudden-death playoff hole which would resume at the par 4 16th.
3:33 pm
>> he's got to be thrilled to have the opportunity to do that. >> absolutely, even the chance that looked like there was no way he was going to have a putt to stay in this thing, rog. >> this is very similar to the putt that stewart cink holed on the 72nd hole. >> yeah. >> just to the right, not much. >> cink was for eagle, harrington for par to stay in it. >> roger, if this goes in, this is one of the all-world pars. just incredible. >> he would have a huge smile on his face. >> he would. up and down from 285.
3:34 pm
>> you know, this will get there. it does no good if they leaves it short or misses it. it's got to go in. >> finally, it's over. steve stricker wins the 823rd kitchenaid senior pga championship on the first playoff hole. just the sixth man to win 16 senior majors. stricker has won the first two of the year. join the trophy presentation coming up on peacock, as they give the trophy to steve

west coast of all the fairs, a very prestigious award because of the event. you know, it honored farmworkers, farmworker hero day, appreciation day. there's an exhibit of all the cesar chavez history and the farmworker history. one big hall, but it is beautiful. it's like an exhibit or a museum. you go in there and they have all these archives, and pictures, and photos, and different things from the movement, you know. and then we did a concert, which we'll be doing again just the 11th. and dolores huerta this time will be joining us, which is beautiful. she'll be there. and we have a special song that we've written for dolores huerta and we'll be featuring that that sunday, and she'll probably get up on stage and dance with us because she always does. dolores is a fireball in many ways. you know, she's la reina, you know. damian: no. i've seen garbanzo perform that song for dolores huerta. it said beautiful rendition. the only--the sad part, abel, is we'll be missing once again your

heroes appreciation day. but that was as a result actually of for years they--you know, there was a lack of acknowledgement of farmworkers, which are big in san jose area, you know, as you know halfmoon bay, santa cruz, all the surrounding area. and so somebody brought up the point, "you know, we ought to do something dedicated to the farmworkers who are there. they're part of this county and they're part of this state," and how important they are. and so i guess time--as i said earlier that the attention and the deserved attention, you know, has kind of come up to surface, and that's what started this whole thing. and there were some great people on the board in the san mateo county that said, "yeah, it's time we honor these folks." and so they really worked hard putting together the event last year, the first one. and as i said, they ended up getting this prestigious first place award of all affairs for the best day of any fair in

western states. and so that was beautiful. i was so happy to see that came about. damian: and, again, your concert--your concerts, abel, are a mixture of your band, the malo band, and you name it. it's a smorgasbord of chicano rock bands and rock and roll bands. abel: yeah. yeah, it is a smorgasbord. and it represents a diversity of people, but also of music, you know, because we've been different genres basically 'cause my band was basically a latino soul band, you know, funk and soul and that rhythmic thing and then naturally with jorge santana and the malo people and the people from santana's band too, that brought the latin rock, so to speak. though we kind of melted the diversity of our people because, as you know, we come from all walks of life and all different genres, and that's really beautiful about the set we've put together and the music we're able to play.
3:43 pm
then we just go around the world in a sense of music, you know. damian: yeah. well, we're going to play your trailer at the end--again, at the end of the show. also with that show, a little bit of "suavecito," the show we did together with you, and jorge, and garbanzo, and richard bean, and mr. reyez out there. and we'll play that in a little bit. but, again, abel sanchez and his "song for caesar" band will be performing to dates, june 7th, that's a concert on that evening at the san mateo county fair, and then on sunday with dolores huerta to wrap things up. you don't want to miss it. we'll be back to wrap it up with abel sanchez on "comunidad del valle." stay with us.

a lot of chavalitos out there in middle school, in high school who are still learning about the legacy of chavez and the campesinos. how vital is it that we--that that torch stays lit? abel: that's very vital. and what we're pleased about is we're doing a great educational initiative right now to get films into schools, in high schools, in junior colleges and colleges, and universities across the nation. and i think that's going to be helpful because we've done some already all this year and it's been beautiful to see the young folks, the next generation. it's kind of like we're passing the baton to them to pick up and do something about this particular cause and any cause that they might feel is for social justice and treating people that deserve better treatment. and i think that's--it's vital, like you said, to bring that message there. and also we're going to be on pbs coming in september,

"american masters," and that will be across the nation this song-- damian: oh, you got the gig. abel: yep. yep. it'll be this year. so that is another way of the young generations, you know, that'll, you know, inspire their discussion, the conversation. and, you know, we're just going to keep on trucking, as they say. jerry garcia, "keep on truckin'." damian: i love that. i love that. any final thoughts, abel, before we let you go. abel: final thoughts are just to do all you can to--you know, to pay attention. and you'll find in giving the service, as cesar laid out of giving, you know, and being of service, it's a movement that is of service. and so i just pray god that all these younger generations pick up a service of their own in whatever area they decide that's important to them, but service to your fellow men. and that's kind of where i'm at with this project. it's taken me there, to just kind of carry that message and

continue cesar's message for people. damian: yeah. and you're part of the reason--a big part of the reason, abel, that that torch will remain lit and our chavalitos will learn a lot more about the meaning of the movimiento and how it needs to continue. abel sanchez, thank you so much for your efforts. we'll keep seeing you. keep on truckin'. abel: thank you. all right, damian. damian: all right. again, abel, a couple of concerts at the san mateo county fair: june 7th is an evening event at the fair with abel sanchez and the "song for caesar" band, and then that sunday afternoon at 1:30 back on stage at the fair as they wrap things up with the legendary dolores huerta on stage with them as well. boy, what an event. well, we'll be back here on "comunidad del valle" and play the trailer in its entirety and then a little bit of "suavecito." so stay with us.
