>> the bill is passed! >> late last night, the house passing the deal negotiated by president biden and speaker mccarthy to raise the debt ceiling, and doing so with ease and bipartisan support. >> tonight we all made history, because this is the biggest cut and savings this congress has ever voted for >> the bill passed 314-117, with 149 republicans voting "yes" and democrats providing 165 votes in favor. among the "no" votes, high-profile progressive democrats, like alexandria ocasio-cortez and pramila jayapal, and conservative republicans like chip roy and ken buck >> the people outside the beltway right now are saying, $4 trillion is too much >> reporter: the bill will raise the debt ceiling for two years, while clawing back unspent money from the covid pandemic. it will place a 1% cap on non-defense spending and impose new work requirements for some adults on food stamps.
