as we head towards noon it will be in the upper 60s, 68 degrees at that time and eventually making it into the low and mid-70s. dublin headed for 80 degrees. san josé also reaching 80 degrees. for some of the interior valleys we will be a little warmer compared to yesterday as that trend continues. we will see more sunshine heading into the weekend, so we will talk about where we may see mid-80s and low 90s coming up. cinthia, you are seeing slowing in the south bay? >> we will start around cupertino, a crash on northbound 85 around the stevens creek boulevard right there, and just a little slow and go. looks like the sensors are improving over the last minutes since chp reported that. and then other than that, the typical build trying to get into fremont but there's a traffic break that chp was out there

doing as people are making their way northbound on 680. i am looking at crashes popping up around south san francisco and el cerrito, and we will check on those and be back with more in just a bit. back to you. >> thank you. the a's are another step closer to leaving oakland? >> this comes as the nevada legislature agreed to help build the new ballpark in las vegas. bob redell is joining us now. it's not a done deal just yet. >> no, it isn't. good morning, marcus and laura. the owners must approve the move to las vegas, and the nevada legislature approved an amended deal to use $380 million in taxpayer money to build a new ballpark on the vegas strip. the a's will commit their financial commitment to the

packed the coliseum. >> who could possibly step up? >> not at this hour. let me check my wallet. >> thank you very much, bob. right now an investigation is under way after a series of explosions as firefighters fought a fire at a public storage facility in san josé. we have a live look this morning at the scene where crews are still there looking to put out flames at a public storage facility near blossom hill and coddle roads. the explosion was seen miles away and captured on camera. the fire was large. it grew to become a three-alarm fire, and it appears the fire could have been started by fireworks but firefighters say

it's too soon to know what caused the explosion. coming up, ginger conejero saab will be on scene with neighbors' reactions. police say this is the person of interest in friday night's mass shooting in the district, and he is a known member of a gang, and nine people were shot at the block party, and all are expected to survive. in a few hours the man accused of killing a woman in her san josé home will be back in court. police say in 2019 he broke into her home and killed her, and he's undocumented with a lengthy record.

county supervisors ultimately deciding not to make any changes to the policy. he has a scheduled court appearance this morning for a motion hearing at nine. today educators and advocates of the child care community will rally again on the steps of city hall to reallocate the city's early education funds. this was the scene last week when many gathered to ask to keep proposition c the way it is. this is not the first time prop c has been challenged. it narrowly won on the ballot in 2018, and he was opposed in the courts and won in 2021, and now it's up for yet another challenge. >> early child education is notoriously underpaid and very expensive. you have the impact two times, the families that are trying to afford early care and education

inland areas. along the coastline you will not feel a difference. we are seeing the microclimates starting to spread out in the next several days. san rafael, as we get up and head out the door, it's now 55 degrees with low clouds. we will see temperatures in the upper 60s boy 8:00, and then we will see high temperatures headed for the upper 70s. in martinez, expect a high of 77 degrees. 82 in livermore. 81 in morgan hill, and 82 in los gatos. we will see a few spots reach into the mid-80s tomorrow as a warming trend continues. we will talk more about the weekend forecast coming up. right now, cinthia has a look at where we can find lower gas prices. >> yeah, people are starting to hit the roads now that school is out for a while and we are closer to the weekend, so these numbers are thanks to the

right now at 5:14, let's head over to the peninsula where we get a live look outside in palo alto. another cool start and then we will see the clouds sliding in for a few hours and then back out by 9:00 or 10:00 as we head for a sunny and very mild day. we will see it warming up a couple degrees for the inland valleys. more on that coming up in a few minutes. from 101 in palo alto to 101 in san rafael, kari, looks good in the southbound direction but some sensors are showing a slow and go if you are going northbound 101 around the st.

today in the mission district, and reaching 68 for a high today in mill valley. santa rosa up to 77, and 87 in clearlake. you can see how the temperatures vary from the coast to the inland areas, and that's going to continue into the weekend. by next week we get slight cooling as another area of low pressure and a trough moves into the pacific northwest and brings back that ocean breeze. looking at the next two weeks -- the next two weeks, the climate prediction center is showing that california, much of the west, will have below average temperatures and in terms of rain, well, we may see more of that further to the north while we will see an equal chance of getting mainly dry area for much of the bay area. let's head to ukiah, because by tomorrow they will be hitting the low 90s. there will be a huge difference between weather tomorrow and then what we will feel next

week. overall our inland temperatures come down significantly after a gusty wind blows through and a cold front drops those temperatures between saturday and sunday. we will only reach the low 70s on juneteenth. a lot of people have the holiday off. we will see temperatures from san francisco go from upper 60s to mid-60s. cinthia, you were tracking slowing on the altamont. how is that looking? yeah, we see the slow and go as people try to make their way further into the bay area. people go this direction for their commute, and this is around the altamont pass road and carroll road, and we are having a situation because of debris on the road, and people on the freeway may be wondering what is going on there. eastbound 80 at central avenue, a crash around the costco. this is the counter commute

it will also reach 82 in los gatos, and in the north bay mostly upper 70s. we will talk about the slight warming trend coming up. right now, cinthia, you have been tracking the altamont pass. what is going on? >> yeah, this is the direction people head into in the rest of the bay area, and it's a crash around the altamont pass road and carroll road, and last check from chp, they said they have started to clear the debris from the right-hand side making sure people are not watching what is going on there any closer than they should. as far as the rest of the bay area, there was a slow and go going up northbound 680 into sunol, but the rest of the area is looking neat this morning. back to you. >> thank you, cinthia. 5:32 right now, and developing right now, an investigation is under way into what caused a large fire at a public storage facility in san

josé. the explosion, flames and smoke could be seen from a great distance. >> today ginger conejero saab there at the scene. are the flames still burning or have they put those out? >> reporter: good morning, marcus and laura. it looks like the flames have been put out, but not too long ago there was a couple flames that needed to be watered down. can you see, they are actually still working hard. they worked overnight, the fire crews have, into the morning, and water being hosed on part of the storage facility here trying to contain quite a stubborn fire to say the least. it was a three-alarm fire and the cause of the fire is being investigated. you could hear what it sounded like yesterday, the popping and the crackling of flames. it started around 6:00 in the

evening. you could see the initial explosions caught on camera in the distance. it appeared to be fireworks, and that's what people say the blast sounded like. the cause is still under investigation and they were not able to see if the fireworks we saw around the scene came out of the public storage facility. >> there was a bunch of popping and explosion sounds and one of my friends said somebody had fireworks in there and it set them off and it's continuing to pop. >> we have not permitted any crews inside the building. >> reporter: that was the fire captain last night. there's no update officially from their end this morning. the san josé fire spokesperson has not given us updates as far as containment, and it seems to be more under control than yesterday. the fire captain confirmed last

fired the officer who prosecutors charged this week. newly released body camera shows from last july a police stop. this is when the department said officers determined that passenger was wanted on felony charges, felony warrants. the video then shows the man resisting as the officer tried to detain him. at about this time you are seeing right now that man is pushed to the ground and then agreeing to be placed in the patrol car, and then he refused to get in again fearing a panic attack. that's when the officer is seen there kneeing the man in the stomach and then punching him. the police chief says in part, my hope is the community will see the actions of our personnel and investigate and bring this

matter to my investigation as their expression of their commitment of accountability and their oath. the accused getaway driver here is set to have a plea hearing at 9:00 this morning. the second suspect is accused of firing the shot that killed home depot loss prevention worker in april at the store on johnson drive when she was confronted over stolen items. and then suspects are wanted in connection to break ins on top of lombard street in the day yesterday, and one crew was filming with lots of equipment and they lost more than $30,000 of equipment there. the group says they tried to call 911 multiple times but the calls never went through.

the filmmakers then tried to confront the suspected thieves. >> i ran over there, hey, what are you doing? stop, stop. he pulls a gun on me and i stop, okay, dude, all right. they moved three cars down. they didn't even go a block -- they didn't keep going, they didn't leave, they literally went three cars down. >> we have heard that story many, many times. when the filmmaker went to a nearby police station he saw four or five other people reporting their cars also broken into. >> an alarming trend there. bart is expected to make cuts as it faces a budget deficit today. $1.1 billion will go into helping fund state transit. 400 million of that is going directly to bart. it rolls back $2 billion in proposed cuts to capital

summer, well, with the fourth of july being on a tuesday, this may be the best one. we are actually able to track those flight delays that are as of now, all the major airports are doing pretty well. watching out for severe weather moving across alabama as well as into mississippi and georgia. it's going to be nice and great for the giants game. they will be traveling to l.a. this weekend. if you are going to be going down there, it's going to be at about 58 degrees as you make plans to head to dodger stadium and it will cool off. this weekend around the bay area, we have the al mita county fair kicking off, and we have beautiful weather. nice and comfortably warm. in pleasanton, the peak reaching into the low 80s. if you want something nice and relaxing today, free movies on the beach in santa cruz's

new this morning we are getting a look at the first images of pope francis from his hospital. he's been recovering from recent abdominal surgery. the 86-year-old pope had surgery eight days ago at the hospital in rome and vatican leaders expect him to be released as soon as tomorrow. more than 40 migrants were dropped off at a church in san francisco from texas, and that included eight children. this is the latest move by governor abbott who has sent people unannounced to other so-called sanctuary cities. he tweeted out, l.a. is a place

migrants like to go. we received a response from governor newsom's office, that says in part, instead of demonizing asylum seekers, together we will make sure that the children and the families who arrive are safe and welcomed. you might recall earlier this month, florida governor sent migrants to sacramento. washington will get an update on the number of people trying to cross the border later this week. >> scott mcgrew, that number has been falling. >> it has been falling quickly, and that's why it's off the radar a little bit. still big problems to solve, but migrants, encounters, were down 11%. president biden has had a couple flash points go his way

recently. not only the border, but inflation. the president will meet with the heads of big ticketing agents like live nation and seat geek at the white house today. that's been a big push for president biden. other companies like airbnb have been straightforward about their fees, and sometimes the cleaning fees were as much as a night's stay. airlines, too, tempting flyers with what look like low fares than tagging extra fees at check out. and then the airlines are changing the retirement age, and if that becomes law it would solve the shortage of pilots.
