them. and i think to confuse them with, you know, the pride and the trends, i don't think that's a good thing to do. >> the board president says he expects the revised resolution will get a vote in august. and tomorrow 1,600 students will graduate from santa clara university. >> and that includes a 14-year-old who is not even old enough to drive. "today in the bay"'s bob redell joins us now. bob, i understand he's going to become the youngest person to ever graduate from santa clara. >> correct, we're talking about a 14-year-old boy from pleasanton with an iq that is ranked in the top one-tenth percentile of the general population. while most of his peers just graduated middle school, tomorrow he will receive his bachelor's degree with a job already lined up at one of the country's top space companies. >> tairan was speaking full sentences at 2 years of age, at age 9 his parents had him tested

6:09 am
long game, meaning what does kairan want to do, what is best for kairan, and how can we best sheppard and guide that path that our son is telling us he needs to thrive. >> my journey wouldn't have been possible without people in influential positions looking past my age and looking at my abilities and my achievements. and so i want to pay that forward in my career. >> reporter: so marcus and laura, kairan will soon relocate to seattle to start his job at spacex where he'll be working on the starlink satellite internet service. he's excited about the implications and further advancement of what he calls the democracirization of access to education. >> also, just the confidence that he has. there are people who, whether they have ph.d.s or not, they can't sit in front of a room. >> the way he holds himself.

6:11 am
it is 52 degrees, the dew point is 52, so humidity is high. and as we go into today we're going to see temperatures going from low 50s to the low 70s as we go into the afternoon. but overall we are going to have some nice weather heading into the weekend. now some upper 70s and low 80s for the inland valleys. san mateo reaching 73 degrees today and san francisco has got more of the same weather we've seen recently with clouds to start and a little bit of some sunshine going into the afternoon. not much of a change tomorrow, but we'll see a drop in temperatures on sunday as we look at all of our microclimates, and many of them coming down about 10 degrees compared to what we'll see on saturday. we'll talk about those changes ahead coming up. cinthia has a look at changes in our gas prices. >> getaway friday and we want to help everybody find the cheapest gas prices. these numbers come from drivers who report them on gasbuddy.com. we'll start in the peninsula. san mateo, the arco on south delaware street comes in at
6:12 am
$4.39, followed by $4.35 at hq fuels in mill valley on shoreline. and the last one, cheapest for you this morning, is in vallejo. you'll find $4.11 at the shell on tennessee street. so good luck out there, drivers from the gas pumps to the roads. let's check on traffic. still friday light and we aren't looking at any major trouble spots, just in the south bay, graystone lane with that early house fire. we'll keep an eye on that. if you're taking b.a.r.t., there's a ten-minute delay at the union city station in the southbound direction if you're headed toward barry es sa just because of an equipment problem on the train. no other problems reported. back to you. >> thank you so much. what's next for the a's? it looks more and more likely that the team will be leaving oakland. ahead this morning on "today in the bay," we're going to break down what still needs to happen first before those a's call vegas home. >> and there are ads coming to
6:13 am

the low 70s there, reaching 75 in hayward and 73 in oakland, novato headed for 77 degrees, a few low 80s as you make your way into concord, as well as morgan hill, 82 degrees. tomorrow it's about the same where we're still having very cool coastal temperatures, morning clouds, but then looking at comfortable weather going into the afternoon. notice on sunday those temperatures come down in some spots about 10 degrees, so it's going to be windy and cooler as we make that transition, on father's day, keep that in mind if you're going out golfing. the ball may have more of a curve because of the high winds that will be kicking up. but also nice, cool temperatures. here is what's going on. we see a low dropping into the pacific northwest as high pressure builds over parts of the south. now, that's going to increase that pressure gradient, the wind flows very quickly between that high and low pressure and we're also getting some cooler temperatures as that ocean breeze comes back. our temperatures will reach into the low 80s today and tomorrow
6:23 am
and then you can see the drop in temperatures between father's day and juneteenth, the first day of summer is on wednesday and it's only going to be 79 degrees, while san francisco will see temperatures in the 60s through much of next week. cinthia, it seems like it's friday light. >> except here on the bay bridge. we've seen the metering lights turned on about a half hour ago but the traffic has been piling up and i think this is because of a crash that's on westbound 80, the commute direction as people are making their way from the treasure island on-ramp. there was a crash and we're seeing a little bit of a delay as people are making their way onto the fremont street exit. i'll take a look at more bay area roads in just a bit. >> thanks, cinthia. coming up next, nbc bay area responds. >> he says a rideshare driver drove off with $3,000 of his
