the fourth of july, possibly at the pier, at the wharf, or if you have a rooftop you might get a great view of san francisco, maybe some fireworks. you might not if the fog doesn't let you. san francisco is home to one of the most spectacular fireworks shows in the region. crews were putting it together yesterday, assembling pieces on four large barges, and there were more than 10,000 pounds of fireworks materials. some of that will be used tonight in san francisco, other fireworks were used last night in richmond. tonight's sausalito and redwood city displays will also make use of fireworks materials. pat dyas oversees the production of the show and he says spectators are in for a real treat, fog or no fog. >> we try to put on beautiful, safe displays for people so they can satisfy that need for fireworks, celebrate our independence day like everyone wants to do, and keep their

thursday. only 62 in half moon bay and san jose reaching 77 degrees. so that's really cool for this time of year. but it's also going to be windy and we may see clouds linger a lot longer, especially near the coastline. now as we turn to our climate in crisis, we've had that fog and that breeze available to cool us off from this weekend's scorching temperatures. but there's a new study by climate central that says summer nights across the country have warmed up since 1970. and scientists say hot summer days, followed by very warm nights have become more frequent, causing nighttime average temperatures to be at about 60 degrees. now, warmer nights can affect our body's ability to cool off while we're trying to sleep and running the air conditioner means higher energy bills. with inflation, many can't afford to run air-conditioning, or many of us just don't have ac. now, for us now it's cooling down after this weekend's extreme heat, so we don't have to worry about this for now.
