worked. first, the national transportation safety board said one of the evacuation slides -- two of them opened up inside the airplane and that ended up blocking the exits here and here. what does that mean for us? that's a reminder when the flight attendants are making their safety briefing, put your eyes on the two closest exits and count the number of rows to get there in case it's dark or smoky and you can't see how many rows there are. >> what is something that worked that sticks out to you? >> first, seat belts. think about it. it's astounding that so many people survived this crash. it's believed the only people ejected from the airline back here in row 41, they were not wearing their seat belts. to me that's a big lesson. the second is that the overhead bins -- let me show you a picture from inside the airplane. you can see so much is
5:38 am
skwrausled here. the engineering here worked and likely reduced injuries. this injury takes me to a photo from outside the plane. some of them took their carry on baggage down the slides with them. aviation experts are not okay with that. they say every second you spend getting your bag is a second you should be using to leave the plane as soon as possible. the fire here did not start immediately. if it had the people who were spending that time getting their bags could have costs the people behind them their lives, because smoke kills so often in plane crashes. so the lesson is in a emergency
5:39 am
