a lot of us mild temperatures as we make our way inland. only warming up to 77 in concord. 71 san jose. 75 los gatos and chilly 60s in san francisco. we will stay this way going into tomorrow but better news with more warmer weather on the way. show you that in the extended outlook in a little bit. >> cinthia, see you soon. the "ruby princess" cruise ship still docked in san francisco as crews work to repair it. the ship hit a dock at pier 27 thursday morning and now princess cruises says it expects the ship will be cleared to leave port once repairs to the hull are complete. and the u.s. coast guard completes its inspection. that might be as early as tomorrow afternoon. here's "today in the bay's" tom jensen. >> reporter: a repair team worked all day and into the night fixing the hole in the "ruby princess"'s hole where it collided with the dock thursday

and pounding and grinding away the gadges, passenger departed sailing sunday afternoon at earliest. >> this is a bad taste in my mouth. >> reporter: this couple and three more couples opted for the full refund and leave the cruise ship learning they'd need to spend another day and a half in home port and the cruise cut short. >> not leaving until sunday. you know? 4:00? who knows when we're going sunday at 4:00. i don't think truthful the whole time. >> disappointed. looking forward to it, but, you know, maybe it's another trip in the future but maybe not with princess. >> reporter: several passengers who traveled longer distances to take the ten-day cruise to alaska will stick it out. >> we're going to stay. >> yes. >> reporter: they're going the make the best of it enjoy the food entertainment and city of san francisco while they're here. >> doing everything they can to make it as pleasant as they can.

catastrophic cad failures out at this time. >> audioof a dispatcher describing the situation right after the outage. cad is short for "computer aided dispatch." backup generators also failed forcing workers to write down information, hand it to dispatchers, who then used radios to communicate with first responders. several calls also re-routed to the alameda county sheriff's office. all that chaos led to long wait times for people requesting emergency services. this week power outage isn't the only problem facing local 911 emergency systems. our investigative unit's found some of the worst 911 answering times in california. here's our investigator reporter. >> reporter: call 911 expect help right way. not happening in one bay area city where answering times are among worst in the state, where a police officer nearly lost his

"today in the bay" has the story. >> reporter: the investigation into this viral video from last october sparked a whole lot of concerns over transparency. a superior court judge needs to

make pubic all investigative and disciplinary records in connection with the scandal one included with a fire captain demoted as a result of a lawsuit timed by mercury news. >> i thelt the city should have reported more fully and earlier in the process, and here we are. you know? it took a lawsuit, but now that's what's going to happen. >> reporter: the mayor asking for transparency from the start just like the rest of us, what he received the chief's memo, which tells it all started when the fire crew drove an unauthorized man from the fire station to his work at the pink poodle strip club when the chief says this woman asked for a ride-along. so the crew drove her around the block. the memo recommended disciplinary actions but no specifics saying it's private. >> a group in this case made a decision that violated the public trust, and constituted a misuse of public resources and

the public needs to know those claims were operately done. >> reporter: we reached out but referred to the city manager's statement. the city respects the ruling but adds the city's ability to conduct a complete and thorough investigation relies on the participation of reporting parties and witnesses to cooperate. we hope the ruling does not detract from that. the mayor says the city attorney will now discuss with the city council possibility of appeal and the city has 30 days to turn over the documents unless there's an appeal. reporting for "today in the bay." police need help finding a man they say assaulted a runner on a popular running trail. it happened in malibu on the bay trail. police say a 17-year-old girl was jogging on wednesday evening when a man approached her. he asked her for directions to a hotel and wanted her to show him

on her cell phone map. that's when police say he touched her inappropriately. she pushed him away, took off running and was able to flag down a woman for help. if you have any information, contact mountain view p.d. san jose police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a woman on the city's east side. police say it happened just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon at story road and south white road. a homeless woman was pushing a cart when she stepped into the road outside of the crosswalk. she was hit by a car and that driver did not stop. a second car also ran the woman over. that second driver did stop, and cooperated. police are looking for driver of that first car. no description yet on the type of car. this, by the way, is san jose's 23rd fatal collision and 24th traffic death of the year. richmond police released new bodycam video showing what led to a deadly police shooting and a warning.

90s return on the board. tell you that coming up in about ten minutes. back to you. >> cinthia, thanks. be the delays continue for more than 3,000 passengers waiting for the coast guard to declare their ship safe to cruise. after it hit pier 27 early thursday morning. we do have a live look at the "ruby princess" right now, still in san francisco. princess cruise announced its ship will not be leaving port until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. we know the ship cannot leave the terminal until the coast guard has inspected and signed off on any repairs. our camera spotted crew it's crews working to repair the hole in the hull. thousands aboard the ship currently have the option of bailing on the cruise or staying aboard and enjoying it's ship's amenities including zumba classes, trivia night, time in the pool and meals at the restaurants. passengers who do cancel their cruise are being given full

less than 24 hours after we aired these videos city leaders announced an immediate crackdown. since then people living in the area noticed a big turnaround. more police and fewer people loitering. >> i do feel safer. there's been a lot more police presence which has been nice, no want san jose to turn into san francisco. >> next week mayor matt mahan is planning to meet with the homeowners associations of two neighbors condo complexes to give residents updates. new overnight. a woman hospitalized after making contact with a b.a.r.t. train. it happened just before 11:00 last night at the powell street b.a.r.t. station. the woman's condition is unknown at this time. people fed up with speeding drivers in east oakland gathered for a vigil yesterday at foothill boulevard where a

73-year-old grandmother was hit and killed last month while in a crosswalk with her family. witnesses say the hit-and-run driver appeared to be racing another car. traffic safety advocates held up signs asking drivers to slow down. they also called on the city to coats to divide the street and c make it safer. >> you'll see if you stand here eve an few minutes, people will pull out from behind other cars, stop at the light and blast through the intersection, a red light. if it's hard separators between the lanes, they can't do that. >> police are still looking for the hit-and-run driver who sped away in a black mercedes-benz. now to the biden administration saying the u.s. will provide controversial cluster munitions to ukraine. the weapons are warheads that explode and scatter smaller explosives over wide areas. human rights groups and many

"today in the bay's" reporter is at the office in san jose with a closer look. >> reporter: veterans i've spoken to say this a big deal for them. to be able to be forgiven for mistakes they may have made as a result of war. >> veterans lives -- >> reporter: they gather once a month at vandy's cafe in gilroy. vietnam veterans talking about the battles they were in and perhaps the scars. >> infantry, and we were on the ground and the general up in the mountains where we saw a lot of combat. >> reporter: this man retired from the army as a command sergeant major. like many who witnessed horrors of war, he turned to drinking, accumulating a few duis just like some buddies. >> hard to forget what happened in the war. losing all of the friends, the friends we lost. a lot of guys went to a lot of different ways of trying to

comfort their mind and try to forget, and in doing so they committed a crime. >> reporter: he was lucky. met judge stephen manly runs the veterans court for the county. the judge expunged his dui record. this weekend the same judge at the tret-of-veterans resource fair calmed the stand down. >> he will be reviewing records of veterans who have registered with us, who have records that are eligible for expungement. >> reporter: this applies to misdemeanor crimes like old duis committed in the county and minor violations like traffic violations. >> provide much greater opportunities for hiring, and other positions that will improve his overall wellness of

at 7:43, what we can do this weekend. two more days to get to the alameda county fair. it ends tomorrow. as far as our temperatures go today, we're going to see plenty of sunshine but still below average. warming up to upper 60s, low 70s. turning really cool into this afternoon. another place cool and very windy, look at our forecast for the rockies and the giants. hopefully we can beat them out there today despite the wind. those gusts anywhere from about 20 to 35 miles an hour as we go on into the afternoon. definitely bring a jacket to keep you warm out there for the game. how does the rest of the bay area look? if you have plans to head out to the marin county coastline, bodega bay turning breezy through novato and into parts of the delta rio vista. 30 miles an hour winds. through the rest of the bay, if you have outside plans maybe a dinner party later with friends, you might want to bring a light jacket just to keep you cozy as the afternoon goes on. even down here in the south bay.

day. i'm marcus washington. kira, back to you. >> thanks. 84,000 children's bikes recalled. woom bikes usa recalled after reports the handle bars could become detached or loosen during use. all sizes of original 2018 to 2021 model bikes designed for children ages 18 months to 14 years are part of the recall. according to the u.s. consumer product safety commission, there were 77 reports of the handle bar detaching or loosening. consumers should stop using the bikes and contact woom usa for a free repair kit. police in oakland are investigate egg two shootings that happened overnight. first around midnight at the quick stop gas station that's in the area of 12th street and 22nd avenue. police found a car that had bullet holes riddled around it. police say one person was shot and is now in the hospital. their condition is unknown at

. welcome back. a quick look at top stories we're following this saturday morning including the delays continuing for more than 3,000 passengers waiting for the coast guard to declare their ship safe to cruise after it hit pier 27 early thursday morning. a live look at it. the "ruby princess" still in san francisco. princess cruise announced its ship will not leave port until sunday, tomorrow afternoon, at the earliest. we know the ship cannot leave the terminal until the coast guard inspected and signed off on any repairs to the hull. our camera crews saw the crews working to repair the hole in the "ruby princess" yesterday. the thousands of passengers

gunshot wound victims walking in themselves to the hospital, but the number of victims at this time is not clear. police have not found any gunmen in either case. happening today, veterans in the south bay have a chance to get some help. the first veterans stand down event is being held at the santa clara county fairgrounds in a few hours. the term stand down comes from when service members rirned from abroad and no longer in a state of readiness. the county says veterans can get free haircuts, mental health resources, medical help and legal assistance. the event starts today at 9:00 a.m. and tomorrow at 10:00 at the santa clara county fairgrounds. cinthia has one last check of the forecast before we go. >> looks like a nice event. nice to get out there and they'll have sunshine. a quick peek. windy days to get through
