high pressure kind of pushes its way back toward the bay area. it's going to fight back our ocean breeze and our valleys are going to heat up. take a look at concord. we're going from upper 80s to upper 90s on friday. and then hitting the peak of the heat on saturday, 102 degrees. then gradually coming down next week. this heat is going to take a while before it gets out of here, so we're looking at several days with some of our temperatures reaching over 100 degrees, starting on friday, continuing through sunday, and still pretty hot on monday as well. we're not going to see that extreme heat in san francisco, but warming up here as well with upper 70s for the weekend. mike, you're seeing slowing in contra costa county? >> we are, kari. highway 4. it was actually more focused just a few minutes ago so maybe something happened that caused folks to suddenly hit the brakes. it's smoothing out. it is 5:22 on a tuesday, we are seeing that volume build about the right time. over here, highway 37, some

folks may be slowing a tad bit past the crash that's reported at sunol boulevard. nothing major, not enough to cause that much of a relief over there. the bay bridge toll plaza doesn't really have the issue, taking a close-up look we don't see the transition having any problems. i think they're going to be clearing this crash, but there were a number of vehicles. no problems anywhere south of there. >> thanks, mike. next on "today in the bay," nbc bay area responds. >> resort fees are all over the map. well, we think there are some tricks to help you avoid paying them. i'm consumer i'm consumer (warehouse ambience)

our first trick is to check your rate. we recently saw a hotel in honolulu where west coasters could book a special rate that doesn't include a resort fee. the thing is, it wasn't the first rate the hotel's website showed. you had to click more rates and then scroll down to see it. so poke around while booking. pro tip, if you already have a reservation, you're not necessarily locked into a rate. many reservations can be revised right up until the week you arrive. so check to see if you can change your rate now to save money on your vacation. second, comparison shop for package deals. here is one good example.

some warehouse clubs offer members hotel deals that do not have a resort fee. third, see if your company has a negotiated hotel rate. many employers, especially the big ones, broker deals with the hotel chains. part of that negotiation is nixing resort fees and sometimes you can use your corporate rate. see if your loyalty pays. at least one chain waives resort fees for top-tier members. tip number five is see if using points instead of cash to pay for your stay makes sense, even if you have to buy the point. here is why. many hotels do not charge resort fees when you're redeeming their points. >> that's good to know. >> always good stuff. 5:27 right now. next, top stories we're following this morning, including targeted by hackers. another bay area city now battling ransomware attacks. we're going to break down the

for the mid-80s, much of the peninsula in the upper 70s and the tri-valley reaching 90 degrees today. we'll see the east bay temperatures in the upper 70s, expect about 68 degrees in san francisco, and hot for the north bay valleys, in the upper 80s today. more of this in the forecast. we'll talk about it in a few minutes. mike, that fog is a factor at the golden gate bridge. it's a little tougher to see on the north side of the bridge. a warning from chp. you do see how tough it can be coming through the fog, but it's nice to see cars moving well, spaced here coming into san francisco. so no delays show up there. there is a delay, but a smooth drive for highway 4 and 37 starts the build out of vallejo. the tri-valley, altamont pass, a little build. i think 680 northbound should be
