republican governor greg abbott at the u.s.-mexico border. as part of operation lone star, the state's $4 billion effort to counter migration, texas has constructed a series of large buoys in the rio grande river aimed at prevent migrants from crossing the buoys are said to be roughly four feet in diameter and spin if someone tries to climb over them on thursday, the justice department threatened to potentially take action against the state. the doj informed texas that unless the buoys are removed from the river by 2:00 p.m. on monday today, the u.s. will file legal action the offenses cited by theler include violating the rivers and harbors act, endangering public safety, and potentially obstructing the federal government's official duties so far, governor abbott has shown no signs of backing down in this standoff on friday, abbott tweeted that texas has sovereign authority to
